AW Menus

Nov 7, 2003, 10:29pm
Good idea, the only problem being that actually buliding it would take
up so much cell space. If it was actually implemented I would suggest
not doing it by commands that take up cell space, but an actual "Menu
Builder" interface, like in Visual Studio. But simpler, of course.

Now lag victims might moan about it not taking up cell space, but if
the menu was only downloaded once it was activated... (of course this
would require an "activate menu" command, but that's all).

heres a pic (attached file) dont bitch about it if its too big for ya

I think a Sims-like menu is asking too much. Also it doesn't fit in
with what we have of AW justnow. AW doesn't have flashy menus at the
moment (thank God... can you say LAG?) and I just don't think it would
look good having normal menus everywhere and suddenly this weird
different menu comes up. Cool, yes, but confusing and weird looking.

GIF patent expires, let there be image support!

Nov 7, 2003, 10:17pm
Actually Commie, the GIF patent only expired in America. As you will
find out if you try and downlod the GIMP, it's still illegal to install
GIF support with it in many countries.

So :(...

'density' meter for current cell

Nov 7, 2003, 10:16pm
Me too. It's cool, it's useful, and currently we have to guess using
the cell grid, which is inconvenient if you're building at heights.
With a meter to tell us when we're getting close to the limit, we'll
know when we need to use the cell grid.

AW_EVENT_OBJECT_BUMP

Nov 7, 2003, 10:09pm
Yes, but if someone was using AWHack or something, they would be able
to shift through it like normal. As for glitching through, it depends
on the bug.

support for .svg textures

Nov 7, 2003, 10:35pm
All depends on the file format and wether royalties would have to be
paid or not...

The narrator said "shit" in our Biology video. It was about pollution.
I dunno why, but they said "Human and animal shit is left to pile up at
the side of the road." I mean, in a Biology video, I would expect them
to call it feces, but there you go.

But yea, it is a "bad word". I don't say it. If someone said it on kids
TV or the 6 o'clock news here there would be an uproar. Especially if
it was on the BBC. But the BBC wouldn't do anything like that to us ^_^

ts3 problem

Nov 13, 2003, 7:41pm
Every time I try to load certain plugins TS3 comes up with "A device
attached to the system is not functioning."

I know it's not corruption or anything, because it's happening with the
same plugins that it happened with on my old Windows installation. I
checked the plugin's website and it is compatible with TS3.

You know you've been watching too much Dragonball when...

Yea, I don't watch it!

My rant...

Nov 5, 2003, 7:12pm
I just want to say THANKYOU ENZO for pointing out that terrain is
slightly higer than ground.rwx. Some people have been crying out for
terrin in AlphaWorld for a while, but can't they see what problems it
caused in AWTeen? Pre-terrain floors overlap with the terrain.

Here's my personal list of what I want to see in AW:

some new objects and textures - but DON'T overwrite!! like when those
objects were added in January... wow that was a MESS. It took many
emails from me to get most of the textures back to normal. At least one
still isn't right. I mean, what do you guys use to UPLOAD?

special commands - now we have 3 axis, which can be used to vandalise,
we might as well add special commands in too...

I don't want to see a skybox or anything. Leave the pretty skyboxes for
non-historic worlds. If GZ was to be revamped I would suggest doing it
by adding custom-made z-objects, but make sure the current one is given
a world (maybe AWGZ2?) to keep AWHS lovers happy.

I think that would require an extremely huge terrain file setting all
cells to the right level. Aside from reprogramming the worldserver
that's the only thing I can see (can you see AWI reprogramming the
worldserver?)

Who cares about the technicalities of it? Spamming, flooding, it's all
the same to me. This thread is about AW, not A!!CT.

Hey, that rhymes...

Tourist building in Alphaworld

Nov 13, 2003, 8:13pm
Let it become official:

A large part of the reason I registered was because I built as a
tourist in AlphaWorld in a combined cit/tourist town. Thankyou.
