I myself enjoy it, as it makes it seem more real. I get sick and tired of
daylight all the time, and really, it doesn't make a whole helluva lot of a deal when the backdrop changes, or even the fog settings. When your building you are generally close enough to see objects anyway. True, fog makes it more difficult to scout areas for potential problems, but really, how often do you do that? Once a month at most? Also, it sets the tone for off-GZ conversations (on-GZ conversations always suck no matter what). It makes for photographic oppertunities if your the kind that likes to show off your builds in JPG format (really, how eye-catching is a mansion where the wall just suddenly stops? A mansion shrouded in fog looks much better.) [View Quote] > the Backdrop changing for crying out loud in AlphaWorld. These background images (varients on mountains) actually exist on the AW path already, but its quite
apparent that they can't decide whether we're on the ISS or another world. They used them at one point, 1-2 times each, then forgot about them. It's an illness, prolonged exposure to 1MHz computers causes a lack of
understanding when the ill comes in contact with a computer user with a large, mid to upper range system with an elaborate speaker system, attatched devices such as microphones, scanners and printers, and a strange cup-holder like device called a CD Drive. He will most likely catch on when he has a fast Pentium Class system under his fingers, as you can hardly manage Win3.1 on a 286 system. However, because he'll be bridging a massive technology gap, increasing his processor speed about a thousand times, adding some devices that he doesn't even know what they are, such as a mouse, and giving him sole use of 128 megs of RAM (as opposed to 512k), as well as introducing an OS such as WinMe or Win98, he will probably just cuss a few times and give up. Also, quit posting in HTML [View Quote] > My brother came over the other day and I have been trying to get him > to get a computer a real computer and not just the 286 they have now. > Anyhow I showed him AWs all he had to say as I showed him all the fun > was " but Mac it is not real" and the only thing I could say was that > it is indeed real. I find that Frontpage sucks period and that Dreamweaver is a great tool for
the basics. You know, generic HTML website with some flash and maybe a few java goodies stuck in. I personally use it for the beginning of my sites, and then switch over to notepad. It's also a great tool for being lazy and doing a cheap photo gallery for local viewing only. No glitz or glamor, just tables and JPGs. That'd also make it pretty cool for doing help files since you wanna keep them as low tech as possible. My computer is very temperture sensitive cuz i got some cheap RAM and a cheap CPU, and RAM errors grow exponentially worse as the temperture approaches 123 degrees farenheit. I find that Netscape will run well beyond that temperture barrier with no problems, but IE and OE will crash on launch at 115 degrees. I KNOW it isn't required under 95, but on 98 it apparently is. I've uninstalled IE twice with the same results, and one of those was
when the system crashed in the middle of uninstall and I initially blamed that. [View Quote] > IE isn't required for file management. I didn't have IE installed after installing Win95 and could do file management just fine. > [View Quote] --==USWF Website Updated==--Nov 17, 2000, 9:48am
I had NN6 a while back, and HATED it. It was ugly, rarely loaded, and was

Okay, a few observations here.
First, HOW THE HECK TO YOU KEEP COMING UNFILTERED? Second, GRAMMAR. Third, Xelag is a respected bot developer and doesn't annoy the shit out of us. there are 3 ways that your property could have been deleted by this unknown
person. The first, is that they somehow got your PPW. Whether they're a close friend or mortal enemy it doesn't matter. The second, is that they are the world owner, or assumed the rights of that person. This means they either had the PPW, or real password of the world owner, or was the world owner. The third is that they had eminent domain rights in the world, by being assigned them by the world owner or someone on the world owner's privlidges, or were on the privlidges of someone who has those rights. Obviously the kid is desperate for a password. Then when you email him with the encrypted password in the chat saying it won't work, you give him your
AW password. As for his bot that entered the world, did it actually have brackets around it's name? Or was it just another tourist-his partner? There had better be some significant reasons for this. Maybe updating the
universe server every few hours with a new build of 3.1 to allow Roland to test some new features. But you'd think that he'd be testing it on a specialized galaxy out of the way, but knowing AWCI, I doubt they'd do that.Anyway, don't get in a huff over it, just let the 486 "server" with 16megs of RAM get over it's growing pains or whatever. (paraphrased of course) AW is offline because we're idiots and messed up somthing and need to go back to a backup. We apoligize for any inconvienience this may cause. Essentially, this means they fucked over the world server during an upgrade or somthing and need to go back to a backup, which is hopefully more recent than the one that we went back to a couple years ago and lost all our buildings (when was that? 1997?) With a SUN Microsystems crew on site, I'd think they'd have had this taken care
of long ago. Anyway, if this is any help, I heard that the servers were rebooting themselves, and my computer reboots itself as well. Until of course, I got mad at it earlier today and pulled out the motherboard to check connections and stuff. The RAM wasn't in the socket all the way-Go figure. Must've been rushing when I switched to PC133. [View Quote] > We're going on 3 days now with no AW. I would think they would have planned > for stuff like this with a backup server. What a concept! My theory is that it took so long because there were 50+ rolls of duct
tape in various spots holding the servers together. The tape had to be removed, the problem fixed, and then the machine re-taped with fresh duct tape. The Sun crew provided exrta tape removing hands and swapped out the offending piece of hardware. Then once the server was rebuilt, they realized they had left one of their employees inside after a headcount and had to remove the tape once more. Once the tape was back in place and a head count had been taken, they set about restoring data from their 100 meg zip disks, only to realize that disk 5391 from AW's server was missing. Now they are in the process of hand reassembling the missing data hoping it'll be correct, which it most likely won't. There's only one reason I would post GARBAGE like this to this

The website which the world owner has posted to is located at http://www.geocities.com/awbigbrother/ and is constantly expanding to contain more propaganda (all staged or completely fake) about people. The world that this author owns is "utopia" an up and coming gaming world (formerly a public building world). The world owner, Utopian Monarch seems to have quite a grudge against me, and since he can't attack me personally has resorted to attacking Peacekeepers and my friends. I fee lthat I'm doing somewhat of a service by giving fair warning to avoid this particular sector of cyberspace. I also hope that because of these happenings, some of his advertising in other worlds may be cut off, teaching him a lesson (hopefully).
