later in the thread. These newsgroups are an english based textual
communication form. English is the dominant (only) language and using it
effectively is a M U S T. Bad grammar goes unnoticed until Eep runs out of

Less load time, replace the screenshot on the front page with one that shows
the features of the new browser (3.1), a menubar with collapsing catagories
(on homepage just major headers are shown, then navigating to one of those
catagories brings up homepage for that section and any subcategories are
shown along with the original menu)

Just installed ZoneAlarm to one of my computers. No problems while running
nor after uninstalling. Cheap firewall. Now I need to disinfect the hard
drive. Anyway, heres system config.

Win98 SE, TNT2 Vanta Plus, Creative Ensoniq AudioPCI (manufacturered after
Creative bought Ensoniq), 64mb RAM, AMD K6-2 550 connecting to the internet
via TCP/IP 56k dialup on local modem. All drivers updated, NO Windows
updates with the exception of IE5.5.

Eep doesn't seem to retaliate when people are discussing him, only when
people directly attack him. If I were Eep I wouldn't post to this thread,
just sit around and watch it play out. Facter's initial vote in my opinion
shouldn't be counted, nor should Eep's (not that he'll cast one anyway)
because they're the two extreme parties and would cancel each other out
anyway.

Amen Goober. Seventy-five posts this morning. I read SIX. Facter, what the
HELL were you thinking? You've forced us to take sides, and set the grounds
for even more hostility than Eep could ever dish out. An anonymous vote
should have been taken, as I feel that the community should be involved in
the process. But what you turned this into was a debate, not a vote. When I
posted my vote, it was a vote, no extra words. Other people made strong
arguements for or against Eep designed to change other's votes. Peer
pressure was a factor that should not have entered into the equation.

This post will be my last in these newsgroups. If anybody has any last words
for me, I can be found via email. As it looks now, my donations to AWCI will

Very true. However, I doubt the music industry is going to want to even set
foot on software apps that don't focus on MP3s. Because you see, they'd need
to deal with the likes of Electronic Arts so they don't look like they're
picking on the little guys (Napster Inc. and any other small software
developer that crosses them). Capital Records vs. Electronic Arts... Now
THERES a fight to the death.

Well, since I cant get to beta, I guess it's back to here. I will NOT be
participating in any non-technical threads however.

After updating to 3.1, I noticed only one obvious problem which after a
quick exchange of telegrams Roland informed me that it was supposed to be
like that. The object movement commands are very well done, and the lighting
is amazing. Performance in terms of framerate is amazingly improved over 3.0
on my primary video card. However, when I exit the browser, my CPU maxes out
and my HD access LED turns on for about 15 seconds.

Duron 700 at 1050MHz (CPU multipler of 7), 64mb of PC150 RAM, Maxtor 20 gig
3400RPM HDD are the applicable specs for this problem. I've reproduced it
several times. Midi, MP3 and wav are all on.

I'll report back on the old gaps that Eep and I were talking about earlier.

No fixed size swap file, no network access to the drive either (even
unplugged cable to make sure). And no, I sure haven't defragged. MS tool
doesnt work and I haven't bought any utilities. Last reformat was early
January, but that still seems a bit too soon for major fragmenting

Primary card is Hercules Prophet II MX 32mb. Haven't tried it on TNT2 cards
yet though. I really have no explaination except AW3.0 ran at around 5
frames and 3.1 now runs at 10-15 frames. Haven't OCed the card any more
since 3.0 either.

Tried it with a nice pop rock track. MxPx-Teenage Politics sounds real nice
in Winamp (which I have running in DirectSound mode) but in AW, the bass is
gone. It just sounds like CRAP.

3.1 should've just been lighting. Lighting is good. Roland should have held
off on the rest and did it RIGHT. It's easy to make clientside encroachment
checks for all in-scene objects. Lighting someone else's property is OK as
it looks cheezy if it doesnt happen. Moving and rotating objects would start
moving before the encroach checks and as it moves, it is encroachment
checked at each step and instead of causing the object to be deleted, just
make it invisible! Nothing difficult there. Now making the server process
all this would be ludicrus but AW sucks CPU cycles and should use them for
somthing productive.

GeForce cards are CHEAP now. GeForce II MX cards are pricy, and better
GeForce II cards are mad expensive. ATI has another chipset that beats the
ass off of GeForce II MX in 32bit color mode but I forget what it's called.
