Toooo much infoooooooooooooooooo. Dammit, I love bragging about my system and I even manage restraint on these issues.

Sounds like you're running on empty, while on the other hand I'm running on full :) And mine goes away after a frame or two.

Press X to skip scandisk, it never does any good anyway. And if your PC comes to a dead stop on it's own, it means it has nowhere
near the hardware capacity you need, and some program of yours has a memory leak.

No wonder you're so messed up, your one of the cute little Petz kiddies. Blech, I knew I had tasted this level of immaturity before
and now I know it was my girlfriend before she got the idea to grow up. Blech. And no jfk, I will NOT have sex with you.
I think I'm on the verge of discovering that WinME is eating up my VRAM, I'm now getting a variety of Windows GUI glitches, icons
being substituted for other icons (.txt icon is Outlook icon right now) and when I pop in a Win98 boot drive and switch to the
correct drivers I have no problems whatsoever.

It's still using the hardware renderer, just your CPU is doing 100% of the work.

Hrmm. That makes a very unusual amount of sense. In fact, if I remember the message properly it even SAYS that Activeworlds will
start in software mode. I invite anyone who wants to try to switch to default Windows drivers and try AW, it will function, albeit
not very well, but it still functions. In fact, I was on 3.0 beta without a 3d card. If they had not wiped the beta board, you could
still read my glowing reviews of the software rendering.
[View Quote]"eep" <eep at tnlc.com> wrote in message news:3B0AD403.3CE5AF35 at tnlc.com...
> Er, that doesn't make sense. The whole POINT of a software renderer is to bypass the non-existant 3D video card and only use the
system CPU for all rendering. If AW 3.1 can already run in software mode (I've never encountered it since I have a 3D card) I don't
know what Roland is getting at when he says RW3 doesn't have a software renderer...

Another typo-"programmers" should be singular. However, it's darn near impossible to fix a bug that you can't replicate because you
have not the slightest clue what's going on in the RAM of the machine, etc. when the crash occurs.

Wanna push a PC to it's limits? Don't make it crash, moron. I know exactly how to push a machine to the breaking point, and it sure

*blink* You do WHAT? I bet you wouldn't be able to emulate my graphics system though, and since I'm apparently on my own with the
damned flickering problem I doubt you'd try anyway. Wonder if you even got my email regarding it, Prodigay has been having a beef
with delivering my emails lately, holding it up for weeks, months, indefinitely. Sounds like the FBI installed a carnivore system on
me or some crap-based on a 486.

Well, in general my video card is physically modified so I suspect crappy soldering on my part is the problem anyway, I'll
investigate it myself and send again if it doesn't help any.

Of course it happens right when I drop SETI and switch to Genome. :) Very original.

SETI RESEARCHERS ANNOUNCE RECEIVING THE FIRST MESSAGE FROM AN
ALIEN CIVILIZATION
A team at UC Berkeley has been distributing data gathered by the
Arecibo Radio Telescope in northwestern Puerto Rico to home
computers since early 1999 in a distributed computing project
designed to ferret out possible signals from an extraterrestrial
civilization.
Those signals have been found! Project leader Seth Liver says,
"We detected the signal on May 15 at 9:48 PM. Our first reaction
was to announce the discovery to the press immediately, but we
collectively decided to wait until translation efforts could
begin.
"We soon discovered the ETs used the universal language of
mathematics to encode a primer into the message, making full
translation surprisingly easy."
What follows is the full content of the first message ever
received by an alien civilization:
SEND 5 TIMES 10 TO THE 50 ATOMS OF HYDROGEN TO THE STAR SYSTEM AT
THE TOP OF THE LIST, CROSS OFF THAT STAR SYSTEM, THEN PUT YOUR
STAR SYSTEM AT THE BOTTOM OF THE LIST AND SEND IT TO 100 OTHER
STAR SYSTEMS.
WITHIN ONE TENTH OF A GALACTIC ROTATION YOU WILL RECEIVE ENOUGH
HYDROGEN TO POWER YOUR CIVILIZATION UNTIL THE UNIVERSE
RECOLLAPSES! IT REALLY WORKS! DO THE MATH!

Unneccessary, but with Roland's programming skillz, I'm sure it'd increase stability, when one world flubbz, the rest don't go down
with it unless it takes out the whole darn machine.

Unfortunately one belongs to my brother, the rest are here for repairs by customers.I DO have one I could give away, but, errr, I
ripped off a PCI slot trying to remove a stuck card. As far as processor latency goes, yeah, K6-2's are slow and probably wouldnt
benefit from anything beyond a TNT2 m64.

I'd attribute this to the P4 handling unoptimized code around the speed of a P2. With my Duron 1200/Quadro 2 MXR /256mb PC166 combo
I pull nearly 30 at 120 meters vis in many places (GZ's, high poly zones), and in lower zones up to 150-175, and it's off the scale
in empty places.
Disclaimer: If you ask me: "How the hell did you do that?" and I give a confusing answer and then you have the testosterone to so
much as attempt one bit of it with your own computer and obliterate the whole thing, you can't blame me.

Default is 700. Unfortunately I iced that chip, a motherboard and 3 maxtor hard drives when mobo couldn't decide whether it wanted
to boot with an FSB of 100 or 133.
Don't frequent many OCing forums, but usenet's alt.comp.hardware.overclocking gets a good dose of me.
