This should have been AW's PRIORITY objective FROM DAY ONE rather than
throwing together some "virtual mall" which I doubt very many people even
knew EXISTED (let alone WENT TO) and thinking they'd just get dirty freakin'
"filthy rich" off that "mall" (yeah right! Makes me wonder just how many
bridges they're bartering on eBay) while treating US - THEIR USERS like the
CRAP we've been "treated to" over the past several months (Granted some
people more so and longer than others, but still).

This is EXACTGLY why I continue to boast about Live365 because THEY *know*
where they'd be without their users. That is OUT OF BUSINESS & IN DEBT
PAYING OFF LEGAL BILLS!!!

And if AWcom doesn't watch it, THEY will be "out of business" *themselves*
before long (And AW only has to worry about NetBroadcaster.com being exposed
to the CARP).

This release even includes improved security in ejections, which

One feature *I'd* like to see (BTW....Why wasn't this thread cross-posted
onto WISHLIST until now?? Found that to be kinda strange) is mass DELETION
capabilities. It's funny though how we can just simply hit CTRL+INSERT and
not only duplicate but also place an object in sequential place, but yet you
can't DELETE objects in the same manner.

Is it just me not hitting the right keys (like SHIFT+DELETE) or is this just
yet another MUCH NEEDED improvement left out of 3.3???

I took a perhaps more subtle "wait and see" approach myself, however though
I too had the same concern you did Brant (among other things at the time).
But youi are right. We shouldn't complain too loudly (who knows - Morfe
features just may be added when the final product comes out) and it *is* a
step in the right direction. :-)

itself). Nor should they have eliminated tourists from AlphaWorld.

I've said this once and I'll say it again, AWGate isn't their "prize world".
AlphaWorld is. And they could've still allowed tourists to VISIT
AlphaWorld, but NOT to BUILD there. If AWcom did ANYTHING in this area,
this should've simply disabled tourists' building rights on AW and left it
at that.

But did they do that???? NOOOOO!!! They had to COMPLETELY BAN tourists
from AW!!! Why??? Only HE knows (looking and pointing up at the sky).

As it is now, AWcom has, for all intents and purposes, shot itself in the
foot. And it's NOT like AW is an "overcrowded world". Sure most of the
activity can be found at GZ but about how many people do you really think
are actually there on an average basis??? Couldn't be much more than 10
people. Everyone else is off elsewhere building or something.

Anyways...My little rant is slipping WAY off topic :-) *LOL!* But I think
you all get the gist of it (at least I *hope* ya do :-)).

Agreed. They need a Director of Community whose job it is to be a liason
between the company and the community. This person could also be in charge
of the Newsletter too. This person would also need to hang out in the key
AW worlds (e.g. AlphaWorld, AWGate etc.) and basically have a passion for
ActiveWorlds.

They would also need to post (at least ONCE IN A WHILE) in the newsgroups OR
move everything over to a web-based builletin board.

Live365 has such a person now. And her predecessor did many of the same
things. As a result, it's a pleasure to interact with the Live365 Staff
because, even though they're out there acquiring companies and other assets
like any other big corporation, there's a REAL sense of COMMUNITY on
Live365. In fact, ActiveWorlds should be taking lessons from these guys
IMO!!!

I think most everyone here can understand your beef against AWcom (afterall
WHO *doesn't* have one?). But by bashing the AW Community (particularly
those like Dion, who was simply trying to be of some help), you will not
only have bad Customer Care from AWcom, but you'll also have a bad rap in
the Community TO BOOT!!!

Having said all that Glitter, why don't you just take what little dignity
you have left and crawl back under the rock where you came from where you
can wallow in your own self pity all you want and LEAVE US ALONE!!!

not noticing any difference between 3.2 and 3.3 aside from the faster
framerate. :-)

Also, are the world you were in 3.3 enabled???? I know for a fact that,
unless they've changed it since the middle of last week, AlphaWorld *isn't*
on that list.

P.S.: BTW...My town has LONG since recovered from its vandalism problem,

mountainous terrain I keep seeing in the backdrop on AlphaWorld.... :-)

Bruce....If we're only only talking about TWO PEOPLE (or one person using
two different cits), then WHY make a HUGE PRODUCTION out of it???? Why not
just simply turn them into AWcom and the PK's and BE DONE WITH IT???

Seems like a no-brainer to me as I'd do the same if it were two people in
Hamsterville acting immaturely. And I imagine Chris would probably do the
same if they were in SW City and Goober would also do undoubtedly do the
same if they were in Goobertown.

You're also giving them EXACTLY WHAT THEY WANTED!!! That is PUBLICITY!!!!

As I said, why not juist simply get AWcom and/or the PKs involved and BE
DONE WITH IT??? This way the administravia is handled in a PROFESSIONAL &
DIGNIFIED manner and YOU don't come off as being the next Mussolini.

Hi everyone:

I am sitting on my bike at the coordinates of 5117N 92E and I am in need of
something.

Since those coordinates put me at the Median Way exit off my Riverside
Expressway (westbound only), I thought it would be ingenius of me to put up
a sign pointing to Ground Zero. But instead of just putting up any ordinary
sign, I thought it'd be cool to post the distance (in kilometres and statute
miles) as well.

If any of you can crunch the numbers for me (I'm NOT the math wiz I was when
I was a kid! :-)), it'd really be MUCH appreciated. :-)

In fact, since Median Way runs through a good portion of the NE part of AW,
perhaps it wouldn't be a bad idea if a bunch of us starting sprinkling signs
like that up and down Median Way so people don't get lost. :-)

Does this sound like a cool idea or what??? :-)

Comments??? Flames??? Tar??? Feathers??? Hugs??? Kisses???

AWLD, I can see the following happen....

1). Making THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE 3.3 (or later) FULLY compliant (including
AlphaWorld).

2). Duplicate AlphaWorld, AWTeen and AWSchool. Note that I did *not*
include AWGate because AlphaWorld can (and already DOES in many ways) serve
as the "default" gateway and adding AWGate would merely be redundant.

3). End ALL online downloading of the AW browser except for patches and
approved bots.

4). Ship the AW Browser and World Server to stores at prices equal to the
latest version of a game.

5). For world owners, add an "Affiliates Program" whereas an owner can add
advertisements (stratigically placed in appropriate locations WITHOUT
intruding on used and covered land. Obviously, this would have to be on an
OPT-IN basis ONLY.

For places like AlphaWorld, such ads need only be placed in populated areas
and in spots where land isn't covered. This would NOT be an option the
community would have as we would (in effect) have NO SAY in where such
advertising is located since places like AlphaWorld would be RUN & HOSTED by
AWLD.

5). GET RID of tourism completely. A citizenship can be included in the
price of the browser, which would be shipped to stores. All a user would
need to do is fill out a short registration form which would ask for a
desired username (which can be changed at any time UNLESS someone else is
online under that particular name). Once the form is electronically
submitted, then the browser will boot up (the form will NOT appear again if
a previous registration was successful).

Same goes for the World Server, but with obvious exceptions which only World
Owners would know about. :-)
