Hi everyone:

Boy, have I been busy coming up with some nifty ideas for my town. One
of them came not too long ago as I was layind down railroad track from
Retsmah's Crossing Station to Hamsterville (albeit in the sloppy
hodgepodge way I did :-)).

The idea was to have a HUGE Bus & Train transfer hub whereas people can
transfer from ohh say a Greyhound Bus to the local commuter train simply
by walking over to another platform. Local and long distance buses
would use some of the same roads and local and long distance trains
would share much the same tracks.

Of course, there'll be links to any major point on AlphaWorld via bus
stops assembled by me (this I can do simply by duplicating a sign and
entering the designated coordinates where you normally have buses park.
You supply this information and I'll make the sign, no problem. , But
you'll have to lay down the track and link it to your town (If I did
this for EVERY town like I would the bus stops, I wouldn't have time for
hardly anything else, now would I?? :-)).

Now of course, there's the UTN and the AWTA (both of which I plan to add
just as soon as my AWCC Registry goes through)

Speaking of AWCC, I was poking around the archived listings one night
and noticed there was something called the CVC or something like that
which did much the same thing, only they also included rivers and
streams. It was run Phalpha (that can't be right, can it?), anyway, if
that's fallen by the wayside, perhaps we could resurrect it somewhat via
my idea, which BTW, was derived from a build whuch BlankaM of
Blankabiorg started with Retsmah's Crossing Station.

I mean think about it, we could all have big transfer hubs (mine would
have mini twin tower office buildings on top of it :-)) or small ones
(the one alomg Mr. Brain's road will probably be little more than a Gas
and Convience Store as it'll be out in the middle of nowhere). It
doesn't matter. The only thing that it would require would be to be
able to accomondate either a train or a bus.

So, if you want your town included, send me a telegram with your
preferred/designated coordinates RIGHT AWAY so I can put up Bus Stop
signs. Note: THIS IS ONLY FOR ALPHAWORLD TOWNS. AWTEEN AND OTHER
HOSTED WORLDS WILL SOON BE ACCESSIBLE VIA AWTA. :-)

Any questions, feel free to post here. :-)

Cheers for now everyone :-)

I believe you're referring to the Community Linkage Commission (CLC),
which was actually started by SW Comit as a way to link nearby towns in
AW's SE quadrant to SW City via CLC-built roads and railways. I signed
onto the staff and agreed to handle the SW quadrant, starting with
GooberTown, but eventually we both found out it was too daunting a task.
Then phalaphe took it over and, as is his wont, has done nothing with it
since.

There were never any stations involved, just placing CLC road signs and
creating roads to connect towns/builds to each other. But hey, if you
want to give it a go, by all means! :) Certainly should be easier if all
you're doing is making teleports to various places...

Yeah Goober, that's EXACTLY what I was thinking of except there won't be some
form to fill out requesting to join. A simple telegram will suffice. And
like I said, I can create a Bus stop sign in lickety-split fashion in
Hamsterville with no problem at all. However, anyone who wants to link via
railroad would have to lay down his/her own tracks as this would be the best
thing to do.

I *could* also place a bus stop sign linking (let's say for the sake of
discussion) GooberTown with Hamsterville in GooberTown as well, but if you
don't know how to perform the simplest of tasks such as CREATING A SIGN with a
line command (or even WITHOUT one), you're pretty much in need of some serious
help. :-)

Well.....It's sort of like a teleport, only with a twist. What I plan to do
next with the track I've laid down at Retsmah's Crossing Station is really
quite cool. That is to use an object with a bump command which will basically
allow my avatar to go down the tracks WITHOUT my having to keep my fingers in
the keyboard (at least it works this way in theory). If you've ever been to
Blankaborg lately or to Smaugville, both towns have a train system that
urtilizes this feature. I plan to add that to the track ruinning the Blue
Line from Retsmah's Crossing Station all the way to Hamsterville, using
additional signage along the way in case the train stops (which it shouldn't
on flat land in the open).

Basically, instead of using the teleport command, it uses the warp command to
move the person along. Once I get the bump objects on the tracks in
Hamsterville, I plan to try the same effect in the street so that, eventually,
the same can be extended to my bus system. If it works, anyone would then be
welcome to try it in their town too. :-)

Of course, building a station is strictly at the discretion of the interested
town (I'm building one mainly because I need a major structure besides the
theater and the infamous Police Station in my town that's under my name,
however there are other reasons as well :-)).

In the meantime....
