E N Z O where are you???????? Your baby, your child, your dream is in need
of a revolution!!!!!!!!!!
Please come back and liberate our beloved Alpha World and give it back to
the Rule of the People!
Nice of you to provide A!!CT world Mr Bruce. Your efforts are sincere, but
Alpha World should be back open to tourists. Things around here will never
be the same without Alpha World and the other public building worlds of AW
Inc open to tourists.
I have not given up on Alpha World once again being open to tourists. I'll
never give up on that. Nothing can replace it, nothing can take the place
of it, nothing can compare, nothing, not even a new Alpha World.
Nothing.
Did I say, nothing? Yes.
Nothing.

LOL AW world is a great world, my first builds are there at 372s and it goes
east to west from 9 east to 100 east, my builds are a little sandwiched
among older <not a citizen> builds, but mine are still there. once when AW
world crashed in August 2001 (August 15th to be exact) I opened a little
trial world called A1CT to consume my time, this same world eventually was
renamed A!!CT in November 2001. :)

If newAW is ever released, that is.
Go take a look at the poll at the bottom of the left sidebar at
www.shoemakervillage.org. According to the results at 11am VRT, 30% believe
that AW 3.4 will never be released :)
Take a look and vote yourself,

You have to look at it from the business side of things.
AlphaWorld biggest building world, and place tourists wish to go to the
most. Now if they let tourists in, then why should tourists pay to get a
citizenship? Heck let's just let tourists back into every world while we're
at it!
Now you see, that wouldnt be a good thing.

AW Should go to $25 a year cits and tourists in all worlds.
I think this would be a good idea because as would gain money as more people
would be able to buy cits.

that would be a good idea , i dont think even with the price increase , they
get more ppl to register then before
Feb 8, 2003, 1:16pm
One thing that I was thinking about and in some cases many will see the
point of the argument is the recent events with the nasa space program.
I beleave Enzo has allowed tourists to enter aw to place their respects at a
site that was created for this.
Now what sort of impression will it be when at a whim this privelge is
removed? Perhaps some might want to bring friends in to see this "Memorial"
at a later date only to be refused access. Not a very good impression!

It would if they *didn't* have BUILDING RIGHTS. That's the key!! I fail to
see why AWI finds this so hard to see....
But then too, what do I know??? I'm just the mayor of a town that's
predominately a bunch of roads which string together a bunch of old builds
created by people who are either no longer cits or don't care about those
old builds, or are amongst the (sadly) growing list of cits no longer among
the living.....
Like I said, what do *I* know about what AWI goes through every month???
Apparently a few things given the lack of DIRECT communication between AWI
and the AW Community....
Eliminating tourism ALTOGETHER on AW was AWI's BIGGEST mistake IMO....
Just my opnion.... :-(

I dunno. I kinda' look at it from the perspective of how I was 7 years ago when I first came into AW. I was very interested in building, but it took quite awhile for me to practice building to the point where I would have paid to register and keep using the program. There are worlds where tourists can practice building, sure, but the the risk of deletion is high. I don't think I'd have gotten interested at all if I had worked hard learning to build a house for a few days only to come back to find it all gone. I'd have said, "to heck with this" and uninstalled.
The unique thing about Alphaworld (back when tourists could build there) is that serious prospective builders could really get hooked on building in AW. They could take their time - weeks, months, whatever - to explore, get ideas, and get good enough at building that they enjoyed it. The more time they spent out in the boondocks of alphaworld building a big project, the more they wanted *someone* else to see it, which meant a risk of deletion. *That* was the incentive to register, for many tourist builders in the past.
With the higher registration fee now, it's all the more important (imho) to let tourists build in Alphaworld. It may take even longer now for people to get addicted enough to building to shell out the money. Those tourists are the future world owners.

Not only that, but those builds marked as <Tourist> at that site CAN BE
DELETED BY ANY CITIZEN!!!!!
All the more reason to bring Tourists back to AlphaWorld, but DO NOT give
'em building rights. It ain't that hard to do nor is it rocket science.
It's COMMON SENSE.

Totally agree with you Lara..... I wouldn't ever have spent the amount of money I do here on cits, worlds, OP's, etc. if I hadn't
the chance to build in AW for about 4 months prior to my first world purchase....
Would never have known what was possible here...

Actually, according to ENZO, the reason he kicked tourists back out of
AW was because some of them were posting porn pictures at these memorial
sites. Nice way to show their thanks for letting them back in, eh? :P

ago when I first came into AW. I was very interested in building, but it
took quite awhile for me to practice building to the point where I would
have paid to register and keep using the program. There are worlds where
tourists can practice building, sure, but the the risk of deletion is high.
I don't think I'd have gotten interested at all if I had worked hard
learning to build a house for a few days only to come back to find it all
gone. I'd have said, "to heck with this" and uninstalled.

> The unique thing about Alphaworld (back when tourists could build there)
is that serious prospective builders could really get hooked on building in
AW. They could take their time - weeks, months, whatever - to explore, get
ideas, and get good enough at building that they enjoyed it. The more time
they spent out in the boondocks of alphaworld building a big project, the
more they wanted *someone* else to see it, which meant a risk of deletion.
*That* was the incentive to register, for many tourist builders in the past.
>
> With the higher registration fee now, it's all the more important (imho)
to let tourists build in Alphaworld. It may take even longer now for people
to get addicted enough to building to shell out the money. Those tourists
are the future world owners.

If AW employees answered the poll, then it wouldn't be any fun. It's just a
simple poll - don't take it so seriously. Had I known so many people would
take it so seriously, I wouldn't have posted about it :)
Besides, I don't think the AWI "employees" (why the quotes?) have any better
clue than we do. Keep in mind that the original release date was June 2002.
After that, Shamus apologized and it was stated that build 443 was a "final
beta." Now we're on what - build 454 or something like that? :)

I understand , Wasn't taking it that seriously, was just pointing out, that such a poll is kind of pointless, since nobody OTHER
than AWI "employees" are going to have any valid information to base such a vote on.... see my point ? God knows we all dont know
squat about what they're doing, except for the little tidbits a few here hear from bill, tom, or shamus....
