URL Question (Community)
URL Question // Communityalphabit phalphaMar 4, 2004, 12:31am
Ok...here's the scenario.
On one of my web pages, I have other pages that when you hit "refresh" it automatically sends you back to the default.html. Another weird thing it is doing is if I want to send a person to a different html than the default html, they get an error message of that "inside" html not being accessible? I checked my html text and nothing there looks like it would be causing it. And I believe my url forwarding is correct also on our domain name server. Help please!?:) Thanks in advance, Bit:) jermeMar 4, 2004, 1:33am
I think you're going to have to clarify that a little bit. :-)
Do you have an example of a page I can take a look at? -Jeremy ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Jeremy Booker - Owner / Webmaster JTech Web Systems www.JTechWebSystems.com ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Yup:)
www.bitemebaitandtackle.com/blanco.html Now that blanco.html is definately there and appears when you click on links to get to it. But the dang thing won't appear when I give someone that url. [View Quote] mongoMar 4, 2004, 1:48am
If it's any help in deciphering this problem, I'm able to access the page by
manually altering the URL to refer to the http://64.217.xx.xxx/bmbat/blanco.html as the URL, rather than the actual URL you posted. I've had similar problems before when my domain name host forwarded into webspace. I'd only be able to access the root index.html, no pages below that. I don't know how your domain name is hosted, so I can't speak to that. Hope that helps. [View Quote] alphabit phalphaMar 4, 2004, 1:56am
Ahhh...well that helps a bit.
At least I can use that to get folks directly to the page. Thanks Mongo! btw...we are domain hosted at ehost.com Been there about 3 years now and no problems. [View Quote] jermeMar 4, 2004, 2:30am
I see www.bitmebaitandtackle.com's IP as 63.251.83.54. It looks like the
server is running Apache with name-based virtual hosting. [JerMe at www JerMe]$ host www.bitemebaitandtackle.com www.bitemebaitandtackle.com has address 63.251.83.54 So, looking up that IP directly gives an error message from the server b/c it doesn't know which domain to use. What IP did you use mongo? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Jeremy Booker - Owner / Webmaster JTech Web Systems www.JTechWebSystems.com ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.
