Well, we don't have a general NG anymore but I thought I'd post this anyway;
seeing as how the last planet was discovered some 70 years ago.

Planet Sedna is our new 10th planet confirmed by NASA =O

Actually after rereading that I'm not sure if they've officially classified
it as a planet. They're just calling it a "planetoid" in that artical O_o

Too large to be an asteroid, too small to be a planet.

After reading another article, it seems that it's currently undecided as to
whether or not it's a planet. They're debating it =P

Seems more like a rogue moon to me.

Hmm, nice. Well even Pluto and its sligtly smaller moon (actually a
double planet system) are not by all astrononers considered as
planets, they crave to fall into the planetoid (not a planet but
almost) category. Sedna certaily falls into this category.

Nice try, but it isn't called pwnage, it's called stupidity and pretty much
notthing near of it.

If it goes round our sun it's our planet right? To me, it doesn't even
matter if it's 1cm in diameter.

So than I guess that means all of the asteroids in the asteroid belt are
planets as well...

There are certain characteristics a planet has to fullfill to be considered
a planet ;P

After some thinking, I think orbit should be the determining factor of
an object in space. Also the number of objects in proximity and their
orbits as well should play an important part in the classification of
spatial bodies.

Meteors would be free floating bodies (there are meteor belts though..
hence the proximity of other objects)... then there's planets and their
moons.. then asteroids.. then stars.
