Blimp: $500 a month
Sign: $50

So lets review... unless Active Worlds Inc is paying itself to put up
adverts for awcommunity.org this has to be the worst 3rd party marketing
setup I've ever seen :O Although I can't imagine anyone actually knows about
it considering for $500/m you can pay a bunch of annoying tourists to go
around spamming whatever URL's you want to every GZ in the universe :O

Posted this just for your amusement..

I just thought of something else with this one... Someone who knows more
about the refresh and OP management tell me will you...

For the blimp image to be changed... you would need a cache reset, right?

I'm guessing that, instead of replacing the texture on the avatar itself,
the image itself is simply replaced, meaning that it will update whenever
the next "OP refresh" time comes around on your browser. I do not know what
the refresh time in AW is, nor do I care to check, but I'd hypothesize it's
around a week.

the blimp is an avatar? O_O i always thought it was an object, with the
center far away, so it rotates? silly people making bots just to rotate >_<

They could always just do a force update by setting it to 0 for a few days
:)

lol trying to make money with the AW GZ? I wouldn't laugh at the offer so
much if the GZ was actually worth going to, considering how crappy and
embarrassingly obsolete it is now =P

I think that page has been on the AWI site for at least a year. The only
advertisements I saw that weren't directly related to other AW worlds or
events was something for CNet (could have been a Download.com ad) and
Caligari (back when AW users could get trueSpace for a discount).

Considering there are already banner ads at the GZs, does that mean some
people are paying that amount of money? O_O Or.. is it just a lost pricing
plan?

Its probably just a lost pricing plan, I think that while 3rd party
advertising *could* work I cant see AWI actually going out and themselves
promoting that the marketing arena is available. Hence noone uses it.
