World Server Troubles (Community)
World Server Troubles // CommunityryJul 11, 2005, 11:26am
Ok heres the story...
Purchased a World... downloaded World Server: World is running, however I can't get in... It just says 'Finding <My World>' I logged into AW as a tourist, and it just bounced back (you cant enter)... So, Ive turned my firewalls off (UNINSTALLED WINDOWS SP2!!!!), and it still wont work. Its not bouncing me back when I enter, as I have enter rights, as I'm the caretaker, so I think my computer may just be stuborn and won't let any internet data go thru (ActiveWorlds Browser to the World Server). Also, The server was on my mashine, and so is the browser. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated! I've hosted Worlds and owned my own before, so I don't know why this isnt working :( If you need more info, dont hesitate to reply. Thanks, Ry - Stressed! -- Ry Blog: http://ryslifeagain.blogspot.com builderzJul 11, 2005, 12:12pm
This coming from someone that is supposed to be offering free world
hosting to others... Ry, have you tried resetting the world after you added it to the world admin tool? You need to add a world and then reset it sometimes to be able to enter. Did you check the world rights to make sure that tourists are allowed to enter since you are trying to enter as a tourist? In addition, be sure to check that your router is properly configured: http://www.andras.net/router_aw/router_aw.html -Builderz ryJul 11, 2005, 12:20pm
I stopped hosting months back.
a) I cant get into the world to change the rights (Im only allowed to enter cause im caretaker. b) No, tourists arnt allowed, but I was checking if it would bounce others back. So the resolve: People who arnt caretaker (me) are being bounced. When I try to enter, it dosent bounce, however I dont get into the world, it simply says 'Finding World'. So obviously my computer, since I got a new one, is in some way not letting connections in. -- Ry Blog: http://ryslifeagain.blogspot.com [View Quote] ryJul 11, 2005, 12:25pm

This problem i also had, quite annoying
It seems to fix when port settings are configured, and despite the fact your not on a router, that still may be the case (Ehternet modems with security settings exist don't they?) Have you tried to get someone else to enter a world? Another reason maybe that the world is refusing to let you in since your on the same connection hosting it, and as i've experienced with hosting websites on my computer, things hosted on the same computer behave diffrently when connected by the same connection its on. That or i failed to keep the word connect to a minimum [View Quote] steve rJul 11, 2005, 4:48pm
I've seen some Ethernet modems which actually have a router embedded in
a sense, instead of them giving you your true external IP address it gives you a LAN IP address from a DHCP server within the modem itself. I myself have a DSL modem from Alcatel, it's a Speedtouch 510. I had to custom configure it to give my wireless router the external IP then I simply forwarded port 7777 to the computer which has my world server on it. If you have a loopback function in your modem (again I am just guessing here, I don't know what you have) then you need to have that on. If you know the brand and model of your modem we might be able to help further? [View Quote] themaskJul 11, 2005, 5:52pm
Try deleting your aw.ini.. It's probally configured not to also check
LAN, just direct to the internet. ryJul 11, 2005, 7:25pm

Ive reset the AW . Ini and at startup, selected: Through a LAN. (It was
already selected, i think before) Anyway, as TheMask is now hosting the world, its working, so I might leave it for a while lol. -- Ry Blog: http://ryslifeagain.blogspot.com [View Quote] |
