linux? (General Discussion)
linux? // General Discussion
Jun 15, 2002, 4:12pm
Well a couple of my friends wanted to play around with linux, so I hooked up
an old linux box to the net (I don't care if it's hacked or whatnot). Since
I've been giving them some names, I was wondering if anyone else wanted an
account on my linux box.
If you do, e-mail me. blahman at 7k2.4mg.com . Make sure to include your AW
name (or e-mail), an account name, and a password and I'll make it for you
asap ;).

Adding onto that above, I will now offer the ability to host webpages
(although not OP's due to the inability to use the FTP to upload). You can
create webpages locally though.

http://www.ncftpd.com/ncftpd/ <--- A very nice (but pricy should you want
more than 3 users) FTP server you could run for them. read up on it. It's
high-performance and very secure.

It's not that.. it's that the box is behind a proxy that I set up.. being
the FTP is on this machine it won't forward to the other machine ;)

Umm.. i'm not sure I under stood that all.
The proxy won't forward FTP to the machine you need? Why not open up the FTP
port (is it 21, or 23.. i always get those confused). If it won't forward
FTP, how does it forward Telnet requests?

I don't have a telnet server on this machine, but the FTP server is, so all
requests to port 21 go here.
