If someone has 24h/24 connection to Internet, it could be interesting to
have a channel :) jeanphi jan-willem de bleserOct 5, 1998, 7:07pm

in short, a text-based chat room. Basically like a location in AW but
without the 3D objects and fancy music/sound. However, IRC does let you send files, private messages (like telegrams), etc., as well as seeing everyone who is in that chat room at the time. [View Quote] jan-willem de bleserOct 5, 1998, 8:15pm

sure I'm on a cable modem and I keep my computer running 24/7 for the worlds
I host... if you can find a free IRC (or any other chat type program) tell my the URL or send it to me and I'll put it up.. it will be up 24/7 except for occasional reboots. (system lockups etc makes me reboot, of course, hehe). I'm already hosting 3 worlds, 2 websites (both mine with one more adding soon :)), and 1 FTP... so I won't mind an IRC or other chat server :) PC Wizard ICQ-537376 wizardry at home.com http://pcwizard.ml.org [View Quote] jeanphiOct 6, 1998, 6:49am
Ok, if you can host one, it is great !
just got to www.shareware.com then you type 'mIRC' in the search engine, you should find it easily. You will jhave to install it, then to join the channell 'awsdk' and if it doesn't exist the machine will cretae it for you. Bye ! jeanphi chris wickensOct 6, 1998, 9:00am

Dontcha you think ur PC is lagged already, you need a faster processor than a p133 to host all that AND a chatroom at the same time, otherwise it will take like 1 min for the chat text to get displayed (it does not matter how fast your modem is, only a little, just how fast ur processor is)
rur
PS: no offence man [View Quote]
--
Chris Wickens
Quote: A feature is a bug with seniority.
______________________________________________
Business Home Page: http://www.bigfoot.com/~realitywebs
Personal Home Page: http://members.home.com/wicken
ActiveWorlds name: rur
ICQ UIN: 183367

pc wizardOct 10, 1998, 1:12am
I have a server program where you can just use IRC and connect to my
computer (pcwizard.ml.org port 6667) it won't be on dal or EFnet, so only sdk people will be on the server. Hows that? PC Wizard wizardry at geocities.com http://pcwizard.ml.org [View Quote] pc wizardOct 10, 1998, 2:36pm
If any of you want to use an IRC channel for SDK chats... connect to DALnet
and the join the channel #AW-SDK. I have it regsitered with ChanServ so it can't be taken over and everyone can go to it. PC Wizard wizardry at home.com http://pcwizard.ml.org [View Quote] |
