On top of that, there is usually some level of assumption by a central
server regarding the client software being used against it where the client
is supplied by the author of that server. If the browser is changed, you
could be putting some of these assumptions at risk with unknown consequences
(because, as is the nature of assumptions, they are accepted as safe
processing paths).

Where this fits within the term "illegal" is a little cloudy, but putting
remote components at risk through unauthorised amendment of client software
(no matter how trivial the change may seem at first) is tantamount to the
sabotage of the server too - and, if taken to extremes, that effects
everyone. I think we're all aware of what happens if the server get's
corrupted/unavailable.

Just my thoughts.
