AWEC Hosts Birthday Party and More! (Community)
AWEC Hosts Birthday Party and More! // Communityalphabit phalphaJan 8, 2001, 6:17pm
Dear Activeworlds Community,
AWEC hosts many events and runs a calendar full of events that other citizens run! In the month of January, there are many events such as AWCC's 2nd Birthday or Poets Corner or event Weekly Trekker's Trivia! Every month seems to hold a holiday that would stir ideas for parties, contests, and events. We are hoping to hold such events for every month of the calendar year! We know that alot of you folks will also be planning some fantastic events and hope you will contact us so we can add them to our calendar to give your event even more exposure and participation. In just over a month, we have had web page hits over 1600! Now...where is everyone finding out about all the happenings around AW?:) You can find this or more at http://www.awcommunity.org/awec/. Be sure to check us out! Thank You:) Active Worlds Event Comittee goober kingJan 8, 2001, 8:21pm
Translation: They're desperate for events because they don't know how to
advertise. ;) Seriously tho, it could be that the community is actually starting to lose it's luster. People don't seem to be as active in Active Worlds as they once were. Then again, I could be totally wrong and have to get out from under my rock10.rwx. :) [View Quote] -- Goober King Big things are coming... oh yes.... rar1 at acsu.buffalo.edu alphabit phalphaJan 9, 2001, 11:59am

Grrrrrrrrr............:)
DEAREST gooberking:) FYI.....The Community has not and will not ever lose it's luster......You see.....If you look around.....There are brilliant reflections all around you, of people who shine on because of all the love and caring and talent that is constantly shared with one another, in this wonderful Universe called Activeworlds:) Ummmmmm....Sweetie....Please let me help you with that rock:) Hugggggs:) Bit:) > Translation: They're desperate for events because they don't know how to > advertise. ;) > > Seriously tho, it could be that the community is actually starting to > lose it's luster. Heh Bits... you know I love you and everything, but that was just too
much sugar to swallow. :) I must say, tho, t'was a valiant effort at avoiding the issue. ;) Yes, people interact in AW, that's a given and I wasn't stating anything to the contrary. But usually, when most people want to hold a little gathering with their friends, they just gram-spam each other and that's it. Most people don't think to advertise with AWEC (or any other sort of events/advertising organization, for that matter) because 1) they don't know it's there, or 2) they think it's too much of a hassle to advertise that much. Perhaps what AWEC needs to do is take some initiative and help wake the community up, so to speak. :) Spread the word about AWEC, maybe even actually go out and meet the community you're so interested in serving, instead of staying cooped up in AWCC. :) Or better yet, organize some more big-time events of your own. You already have the Cy Awards and the AW Festival, but maybe a couple more would do what it takes to shake things up a bit and get the community *really* moving again. Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to ruffle any feathers here, (well, not *this* time, anyway ;)) just trying to help out where I can. :) [View Quote] -- Goober King Brings out the Grrrrrr in everyone! :) rar1 at acsu.buffalo.edu alphabit phalphaJan 9, 2001, 7:09pm
Hiya again gooberking!:)
Well I tell ya guy.....Here's some upcoming plans; 1.) We are attempting to get the word out to alot of folks about what the AWEC Calendar is all about, and what it can to do help their event attendance. 2.) We are attempting to host an event monthly, coinciding with holidays that occur each month. 3.) We would like to sometime in the future offer mini tutorials on what all is available media wise for folks wishing to up their attendance at events. 4.) We are offering a weekly poetry reading session which I've posted in here for folks wishing to participate:) 5.) See below:) Don't get me wrong, I'm not trying to ruffle any feathers here, (well, > not *this* time, anyway ;)) just trying to help out where I can. :) Hey guy......we would love if you could join us and help out where you can:) Sincerely, Bit:) alphanumericJan 11, 2001, 1:47pm
I think the idea of the Events Bot in some public GZ would help a lot as has
been suggested. ~Alphanumeric [View Quote] |
