Looks great! Very cinematic indeed, the translucent effect in the top image is very good (and very creepy!).

Thanks for sharing! Always happy to see more of this (so long as it is here in rendered form, and not for real peeking around the side of a doorway)

My Green Screen will arrive in a few days meaning i will actually hopefully be able to have them peeking from behind actual doors, although because im only using Truespace 6.6 Lighting wont look too great, me cants afford TS7 heh, but i might be able to win in the monthly competition with this, just re created the first couple of scenes and will post some pics soon.

You might need a Codec to play the AVI ill try find the link

Nice stuff!

But, but, but....interlaced video?!?! ;) ((Judging from the framegrab.))

Consider rendering to 24P (24 frames per second, progressive). That way, you get the film/cinematic look and if you want to take it to video, you can do a 3:2 pulldown in your NLE to convert it to 29.97 fps interlaced. I think even the free VirtualDub can do this.

This is just my opinion, though. If you are after the reality-tv look then going with NTSC interlaced would fit the bill.

Yeh, it seems to be an unwanted side effect of post processing the video in Photoshop as a filmstrip, picked a bad frame to show heh

Looks good and definitely creepy, I was thinking you may want to speed up the transistion or the time from the first time we see the earth til the time the creepers travel across the screen, seems a bit long. S/FX are really well done, how did you go about doing them.

Cheers,

The Asteroid was created using Primal Particles however i found that because its such an outdated plugin, the clouds the emitter creates are not shaded, so i rendered 2 passes, one with the background and average clouds and the second with a black background and larger clouds, in adobe premier i then exported as Filmstrips into Photoshop and placed the black backgrounded filmstrip as a layer above the earth backgrounded one and applied a layer setting that made it look more 3D and also gave the front of the asteroid a black negative type look which i thought looked quite effective. The reason why there was such a time delay before you see the asteroid is that i wanted it all to fit with the music and unfortunatly i ran out of time to make a small animation whereby you would see an establishing shot of the earth it the camera would zoom out of it, i do hope to rectify this though. other particle effects at the end of the video were created in Particle Illusion.

Am glad you all like this, i hope it atleast gets an honorable mention heh

I second what someone else said about increasing the resolution.

The only other thing is, the asteroid seems to be going past the earth, not towards it.

i have limited bandwith and decided to decrease the files size, i will get a higher res one up soon, i guess i didnt create the effect with the asteroid well enough, it was supposed to give the impression that the weird eye monsters came from spores within the clouds of smoke from the asteroids tail for if the asteroid hit there wouldnt be a planet for them to invade really lol
