Here's some good/bad news:
Primitive itch is giving away some more free stuff; PrimalParticles, PPFX, ShaderLabPro and (for me the crown jewel) the most bang up-to-date version of MoStu 1.1.0.2.

Guess this really is the final goodbye. Thanks Scott. |

Thanks for sharing, LazeeGazzz!
Hrm...maybe if MotionStudio now gets into the hands of more people, folks will send emails to Scott requesting 2.0.
Hey, I've been hoping for MotionStudio development for a few years, so hoping a little more won't hurt.
:)
EDIT: I want to offer a small Motion Studio tip, because I know someone is bound to run into it. When doing a drag-and-drop of a sub-skeleton onto a parent skeleton, use the right mouse button to select and drag. If you use the left mouse button, it will instead display all the bones from the skeleton you click. |

MoS is a crown jewel for sure. I've just tried the demo version, it worked like a charm. I just got into animation recently, and wasn't too sure what ts7.5 will have to offer, but it is always good to have a solid tool to play with. Thanks a lot. |

(wiping tear from eye)
As a note the new version of Motion Studio has 'batch poses' as well.
Allows you to save your rig with all it's sub skeletons into a pose library, though you can not blend these poses. When you have rigs with 10-12 sub skeletons it can really come in handy. |

Thank you Scott for the parting gifts..:) PRIMITIVE ITCH has been a pillar of the community for years..
Frank..the future of mostudio seems bleak..it doesn't seem to work too well in ts7.11 ..I get errors galore..it would have to be a complete remake when the new sdk comes out, when ever that happens..:(

Primary reason I'm still using tS6.6.
However, I was able to get it to work in tS7 when it first came out. Doesn't seem like too much should've been changed between 7 and 7.11 to prevent it from working, just so long as it's being used in Modeler side.
Hrm... |

Strange, Stan...
All I can suggest there would be to take advantage of the following message at PrimitiveItch.com:
Motion Studio is not dead: we will continue to work on upgrades and compatibility. General tech support will remain available via support@primitiveitch.com.
Sorry I couldn't help you further with that one. :( |

Thanks Scott for all the great support you have given to the tS community lo these many years. It hurts to see the great developers leave us behind. Oh well, as long a Roman doesnt follow suit I geuss we'll survive. What about the other developers who sold there stuff on Scott's site? There was a lot of good software that really enhances tS, a shame to loose it all.:( |

Well, one big producer of plugins who had products on PrimitiveItch.com is Chikara at CK Game Factory. However, I can say with certainty that he is still in business as I just purchased PolyTools yesterday (have been using shareware up 'til now - and mainly only did small poly stuff like the breaking glass example, etc.) . ...that, btw, may be the best $20 I've ever spent. LOL! How did I work without PolyTools before?
You can order from his site here:

I've been thinking about Polytools too....can you give a glowing review about why you like it so much? One thing specifically I've wondered is how well it Un-triangulates (to 'fix' converted NURBS objects)
Thanks |

Is it free for everyone, or just a free upgrade for those who'd already bought it? |

Free to everyone from the looks of it. This version doesn't have the licensing system like it used to so you should be able to download, install, and run. |

I've seen post here about problems with it working in TS 7.11. I do not own 6.5. Should I invest the time trying to use and learn this program or just wait for 7.5?
I know it is a very nice program but want an honest answer. |

7.5 does promise much better animation tools...but, it is up to you really. |

Hrm... In your case (not having an older tS version), I would say that waiting for 7.5 would seem to make the most sense. BUT, it wouldn't hurt to download MoStu and give it a quick spin in Modeler side to see what you think. If it doesn't appear to be something you can pick up on real quick, then at least you gave it a shot without wasting too much time (and it was a free download, afterall) - but it may turn out to be very straightforward to you and wind up giving you something to play with until 7.5 arrives.
My thoughts. :) |

The animation tools in TS 7.5 will probably be totally unrelated to the way Motion Studio functions; MS doesn't replace the existing bones per se so it will probably be complementary to the new system (although not being usable in 7) . I would say the same as Frank: you've got nothing to lose except a bit of time. At the very least make sure you download it so you aren't kicking yourself in a year! |
