Brilliant work again Splinters - your characters are great. Do you base them on any of your students perchance?:D
Re Harold....
Harold's unlikely to get 'helmet hair', that strikes hirsute cyclists everywhere
I was going to write this post in couplets that rhyme, but I'm far too busy and don't have the time
I've a problem that's similar to Harold's I fear, with extraneous hairs that grow from my ear
As a poet it's clear I'll not go very far, compared to the height Splinters sets the bar
A Wizard you know is all deep and mystic but I hope this review is sufficiently cryptic
To spread by a whisper, or gossip or rumour, that the story of Harold is full of great humour
and not only that but it's also got wit, I just hope someone gets to publishing it!
Thanks for sharing Paul - most appreciated. |

Absolutely my pleasure Wizard, and your wonderful 'review' made it all the more worthwhile. I think you have a latent talent for rhyme there...;) |

Most of my books go for a kind of two tier humour-much like Shrek where there were jokes that made the kids laugh but the parents sniggered at the innuendo too.
If the pattern here is not obvious yet, Harold represents the mid life crisis; silly stories for kids but with a nod to those problems and whims we get mid-life such as losing hair and buying a motorbike.
I was going to call my next book 'Harold buys a Thai bride' but somehow it did not seem appropriate for children...;)
All other suggestions are creatively and welcomely received....:) |

A few more tweaks...I am enjoying myself again...:D
Think I will need to simplify the bike to fit with the stylised imagery of the book-it is very clearly a Ducati Monster 900....that won't do...;) |

Great Pictures, you do awesome work Splinters
I think the bike looks great, although I picture Harold on something that looks a little more like Scooter |

Thanks Rareth. The bike needs to be more than Harold can handle-that is part of the plot. Harold is a 'normal' man who sometimes tries to do things beyond his capabilities-things inevitably go wrong...:(
Here is a rough sketch image from later in the story...can anyone guess the story line? |

Hmmm... perhaps Harold's been watching Japanese movies (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tetsuo), & got a bit carried away after 1 pint too many? ;) |

Damn Parva, how do you work it out so quick..;)
Hemulin; harold never dies...only my jokes die.
Alien; good idea, unfortunately beer and children's books do not go together but you are the closest yet. Your name is a clue here too. |

Alien abductions is a bit of a cliché. However I presume it is not this as nothing you do is obvious :D .
My guess is that.....on second thoughts maybe it is an alien abduction. |

Fear of alien abduction figures in it but it is not Harold's...;) |

)
LOL - Given that his original wife was going to take a kitchen knife to him as he lay sleeping I think buying a mailorder bride could be a good move for Harold - specially as it seems likely that the motorbike thing might not work out for the poor guy!
I think you have a latent talent for rhyme there...Thanks but I think the key word is probably 'latent'.
can anyone guess the story line?I'm thinking it's fairly safe to assume Harold prangs the Ducati - he returns home wearing various bits of the bike, his wife mistakes him for an alien and goes for him with that kitchen knife again (that Thai bride is looking like a better idea all the time!!:D ). |

Getting much warmer. You got the basic idea but his wife is not involved until the very end and then only in a 'I told you so' kind of way...:D
Key here is where he prangs his bike and just how suspicious the locals are.... |

Just for you then Madmouse. I tend to mock up stills like this to get a feel for the story..they are NEVER the final images, hence WIP...:)
And yes, it is a homage to that movie...;) |

He has a crash, gets tangled in parts of the bike, and on opening the door to his house, his long-suffering wife mistakes him for an alien and attacks him with the rolling pin, just to round out Harold's day :)

Ya know I was kinda getting to like Harold - being no stranger to mid-life crises myself I felt a certain affinity.... but I'm not sure I can forgive him for crashing that lovely Ducati!!:D :D |

I am sure by the time the story is finished it will no longer be a 'Ducati'...;) |
