Looks like it may be the web client in this case. I'm seeing the message there as well (Unable to connect: java.net.ConnextException : Connection timed out: connect).
Connecting with mIRC worked fine, though. |

It is funny to see that we have a great 3D chat solution -truePlay- and people still stick at IRC !
Well... no so funny after all. |

truePlay is fine for viewing 3D stuff, but it's built in chat thingy is very... basic. mIRC is good, but you have to pay for it. Trillian (http://www.ceruleanstudios.com/), whilst perhaps not quite as configurable as mIRC, is free [& it can handle other messaging services like MSN, Yahoo, & AIM as well]. |

If truePlay have an option for turn off '3d model loading'
I think we dont need to download some 3d model from tP portal if we only need for fast text chat :p
I have 2 choise of connection. one is time base connection it's max speed only 3.5kB/s. can you imagine how much time need to download 3d objs from tP main page?:o
Other one is volume base connection. max speed of this connection is 128kB/s. But it's too expensive for donwload 3d obj from tP portal again and again :o
The second connection is good for IRC chat. because I can online for hours and only pay for few money :D
PS: you can download megaIRC, a free IRC Client from this link. Download size is only 398KB. (http://ironfist.at.tut.by/megairc.htm) |

Try sharing a link in truePlay and you'll quickly see the advantage of using IRC.
IRC: double-click and link opens in browser.
tP: Select URL (quickly, before anyone else types anything and the scroll resets to the last input) Copy. Open a browser window, Paste into Location and hit enter.
Clunky.
Using the voice chat aspect? Can you dictate that URL to me again? I'll have to write that down....
Don't get me wrong, I like truePlay, just not as a chat application.
Oh, and then there's this: |
