Yes! I am a late comer to Terragen, but would also love to see some kind of direct intergration with Terragen 2 and Ts 7+.
Time for a Poll! |

Cool Gallery they have, I have always liked this program and have used it on occasion, my only concern is that they have been developing this software forever and they are still in the alpha stage. I wonder how much this version will cost when it is finally released.
That aside I would like to have it. |

Not sure when Terragen will be available, a couple of other alternatives would be Vue 6 (http://www.e-onsoftware.com/), I am using the Infinite package, I stated about 6 weeks ago with version 5 Infinite and just upgraded. Using one of the other Vue package Vue 6 Pro would allow you to use the eco-system that was in 5 Infinite (a very capable package), you get moving water, clouds, plants trees, you can create your own scenes and animations and add your own geometry created in TrueSpace.
They even have a special on MatchMover Pro4 HD (a camera tracking program like Syntheyes, Voodoo, Boujou, PFTrack), it is considered one of the top end programs for manual and semi automated camera tracking. (149.00 for a 1500.00 plus program, it only saves to Vue format, but you can save in other formats inside Vue)
Mojo World (http://www.pandromeda.com/) I have the pro version, but the Standard package is a very capable package with just a little less control over your world creation and editing. You can export your world meshes and a texture of your 3D world (I have not been able to export a decent texture (a picture of the procedural texture that the program creates))... Limited plants tree support, you can do animated water and sky with volumetric clouds (Vue does a much better job IMHO though)
Then there is Bryce...
They all allow you to import your own geometry, and have some export control.
[Edit]
This was not meant to detract from the original post and it's endorcement of Terragen (which looks like it will be a great program, I just thought I would mention a couple of programs that I am happy with that do similiar things and are available right now. |

Hey Rich..
Well sure you gotta Love Vue 6...
But i guess I am looking for something not quite as powerful / expensize but with quality renders.
Byrce for example, though I have and like it , does not for me generate what I can do in Terragen in just a few minutes set up. |

@Humdinger
These programs do tend to get pricey don't they :D I am hoping that Terragen turns out to be in the 200.00 area, but hey do state on the site that they are looking to be in the price range of other programs in their class... hmmm, sounds like that means the 500.00 plus area.
I just got my Vue6 Infinite d/l last night, painting your plants and trees (eco system objects) unto your terrain is a very cool feature :D but like I said in my previous post Vue6 Pro would be a cheaper (399.00 is not dirt cheap by any means, but it's less than 695.00 hehehe) and get some of the new features of Vue6 and many of the older features from Vue5 Infinite. I only used Vue5 Infinite for about 6 weeks, but I was making some cool animations and scenes with almost no setup time (15 minutes to 30 minutes typically).
Still, all of these programs are pretty pricey as I stated above, wish I had back all of the money I have spent in the last 10 years on landscape generating programs hehehe (Bryce 1,2,3, MojoWorl and now Vue) ouch :), wish I made some money back on all of the money I spend on this hobby lol.

I installed it and it ran without any problems, so no ideas, other than making sure Windows is up-to-date (caused me some grief with another program on my laptop recently). Doesn't seem to come with much other than the default scene which I found to be terribly hazy and vague (even with the haze turned low). Unfortunately, with the holidays upon us, I don't see having much time to play with it for awhile (more preset scenes would have helped), so no real opinion yet.

Someone mentioned prices - I found the quoted stuff at the Terragen 2 website.
"Pre-Purchase Terragen 2 "Deep": $199 (upgrade from registered v0.9 for $100)
Pre-Purchase Terragen 2 "Deep" with Animation: $299 (upgrade from registered v0.9 for $200)"
They also mention education pricing and a free version.
BTW Amazing 'scape renders - thanks for posting. |
