Well, I just had the MOST unusual and pleasant experience of exploring the new truePlace. I got stuck inside a camera, but quickly figured out how to move around. I ran into Thomas of Calagari ,Délé, trueBlue, and a few others, and just missed Mr. "O" by a few minutes. (I think he was there while I was still stuck in the camera ... rats!)

A Great time was had by all!!! (except no one brought the beer)

Funny thing though, Thomas and Délé didn't look anything like I imagined. Hopefully they will figure out a way to personalize our avaters.

Be sure to hook up your speakers and mic and click the "Start Voice" button in your message window for the full experience. Your name and any other traveler with voice turned on will show a "V" next to it so you know who you can chat with.

Great fun guys! Now what can we DO with it??????

This is great. Why not create an obstacle course for the jump area that would be fun lol.Has anyone had a look at a game called prenumbra? It was just like this except for there was something like a touch key that would act like your hand and could pull out drawers and stuff. TP1.2!

Is it me or are there only 3 areas? I try to go to a different area but then I keep going back and forth between now just 2 areas.

Well this is pretty cool! The way of the future?

I'm curious as to just how useful it will be for those of us on dial-up connections. The caching facility should help but I'm still thinking this is something that will best benefit those on Broadband.

I'm also curious as to how one can change their user name.

Hey Dele I found out what you were talking about and I have no idea whats up with that lol. I though it was just static but it did sound like a plane in the background I guess I'll have to find out whats up with that(probably a cheap mic).:)

Yes, I have to say it was fun to finally be able to actually chat with some of the good folks around here. :)

Now we just have to get custom avatars, gesture/emote scripts and some fun games (like paintball). So many possibilities for truePlace. ;)

Zep already made the first gesture I've seen in truePlace. He couldn't get his mic to work but was able to hear us and shake his eyeball yes or no, lol.

Asem: Yeah, it sounded like you were being attacked by a swarm of bees. In my best Chris Farley voice: "BEES, BEES...RUN....SAVE YOURSELF....YOUR FIREARMS ARE USELESS AGAINST THEM...RUN". lol :p

First i post a bug about "http://cart1.caligari.com/web/profileupdate.aspx"

you can found on Bug posts...

About the truePlace.. its cool...

I found some trubles on the interface... We dont know the name of the User on the character.. and i must say.. Jump if you are.. xxxx ...

I think it be cool, if we can add a avatar image to the face... Like a paper.. and that identify us between others...

And something to do, not only chat... like paint a wall... or something to share between others... Like Plasma tvs.. or Vhs (models you know) and we send or show thigs to other pals...

Thats is an idea.... and I think Trueplace have the potencial.. must work on it.

I found a problem with something.. its not the view angle of the user.. its like a union of the center of the scene with each user... The problem is it have colision and if the line its infront of you in the same level you cannot pass ... Only jump... I think if are some many user this gonna became a huge problem..

Funny you should say that, I discovered that the truePlace update had been released after coming home from a celebration, somewhat cabbaged. Who do I bump into first? Roman!

The environments are great. With 3D voice and First Person Navigation turned you'll speak with and fly with hatted eyeballs as if they're real (alcohol not recommended).

:jumpy:

prodigy: The blue line is a pointing device. While inside the space, you can select any object. You can move it and manipulate it with it's "widget" but only slightly and within seconds it will snap back to it's original condition and position. Anything you select will have this blue line attaching it to you, and can be used to show others where you are looking. (edit: you will not be able to see your own blue line. Kinda like when your fly is unzipped; everyone sees it but you!:o "...er ... excuse me sir ... but your (tehe) pointer is showing!" )

It does seem to be semi solid. If you stand in the middle of someone elses "pointer" your character will shake and quake trying to get out of the way. An improvement would be to have the ability to deselect the object to make the blue line go away. There doesn't seem to be a way to do this yet.

I also was in the main area, standing in the amphitheater and noticed I was slowly "sliding" towards the center. There must be a bit of gravity in the truePlace world.

Something's hinky here.
Entering shared spaces via trueplay 1.2 dumps me into an empty gray space containing a non-adjustable light and other confused patrons.
No links out, no objects, no clue.

Use this link to go to the truePlay info page. from there you can transport to the other two working spaces. Everything began to disappear in the forums space this morning, but the other two (Lab and Round Table) are still in tact.
