My last three posts never got thru so here goes a fourth attempt.

I upgraded to truePlay 1.21 via tonight's email link.
Uninstalled old version, installed new one.
Start truePlay, ( I can see the text labels on the links now, good) sign on ( it remembers my name and login now, double good) and it takes me to 'the Lobby'. It's a geodesic dome and an navigation explanation panel.
The link to 'Check Web Content' brings up a web browser pointed to a page on the cali site. Good.
The link to 'Show local spaces' brings up a windows explorer window. Fine.
The open pdf brings up the help file, or I assume it will when I download it.

HOWEVER, the link ' Visit truePlace' just opens another identical chat window.
It's not linked correctly.
So I visit the Caligari web page with the links to truePlaces.
Following those links opens a new truePlay window, each one with an identical Lobby, regardless of what space -Gallery, Roundtable, etc, that I try to enter.
Something just aint right here, fellas!

Oh yeah...and we're all invisible...no avatars.
But we're all having a lovely chat, regardless.
We're starting to like these late saturday Night rollouts!... it helps to have a sense of adventure!

Here's hoping someone at the mothership reads this and jiggles the wires and gets this working.

Jiggle the wires again... the portal is once again stuck in a loop.
Been that way all day...(Tuesday Jan 2) matter of fact it's been out of commission since I got the email inviting me to visit the new Living Room truePlace a day or two ago.

Like iBrent in this thread (http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showpost.php?p=22423&postcount=1), my name/ password combo is being rejected when i try to login to the truePlay server. It's correct- I double- and triple checked it, so something on the server side is wacky again. I'd post this in the truePlay thread but since it's moderated it's pointless. What's up with that, anyway?

Well HAY now!

I just tried to log in and it said I used an invalid user name. What's up? Do I need to download the latest version?

(... or is it something I said?)

[EDIT] Never mind! I just downloaded the new truePlace, uninstalled the older version, installed the new, noticed it updated DirectX from an update from Dec 2006, and logged on.

It was a bit lonely but I went to all the spaces and except for starting outside the space in a couple of scenes, everything seemed to work fine. I just used the camera move tool to get myself inside the space.

but I had to re-register as a new user.

There was a technical issue not last weekend but the one before - every tP downloader who was affected was asked to re-register as a result, the email went out last week.

It is also important to keep the versions up to date - we introduce new features in the environments which will only work with the latest version of the player. Updates have been a bit thick and fast, but that's just because we've been adding stuff on a regular basis :)

Those forums are moderated with good reason - these forums, you need to be a registered Caligari customer to post. This cut down on a vast amount of spam and junk on the boards. For truePlay though, it's free - you don't have to be a customer. That means you can't post on these boards, where you need to be a customer.

Since we want people who just have truePlace and no purchased product to be able to talk about truePlace, we want to give them a forum. Since that is a public forum, open to all even if they are not customers, then if we don't moderate the forum, then all manner of spam and junk will instantly clog it up and it will become unusable.

So the solution was no forum for truePlace owners, or a moderated one. We chose the latter :)

HTH!
