I don't think there is a such thing as a holiday for the upper management at caligari.. I remember Norm hitting the beta forums quite a bit last year when he went on a vacation(or a trip somewhere). Instead I think Roman should send all of the wives of his employees some flowers...they deserve it.

BTW: as far as the poll goes, I don't think it would be very fair to the "C" team to ask them to visit yet another website, again, to do what they could do here..it is a nice offer though.

Instead I think Roman should send all of the wives of his employees some flowers...they deserve it.They deserve much more than that, the same is true for our Beta testers, we are all putting unreasonable hours into TS7.5 for quite some time now, but it is also incredibly exciting to see the quality of new artwork created with 7.5

Judging from criticism, I might not have done well with my real time "performance" in ardwark, but certainly full body IK is not a "toy" for "kids". I wonder if you could do this kind of real time performance say in Motion Builder, in TS7.5 you could just turn on 3D recorder and layer real time performances on top of each other with any combination of procedural clips, physics or key frame clips.

Check out on this page new margin animations (inside little TV's) by Dele showing full body IK, key-frames and physics simulation on Oliver's Bob:

http://www.caligari.com/products/trueSpace/ts75/Brochure/animation.asp?Cate=BAnimation

"Character Simulation" animation was posted to Captain's Blog but "Blend keyframes with physics" is new.

After that, check out "Endorphin show reel" on the page below (make sure you watch it until guy jumps on the horizontal bar) and ask yourselves why Endorphin cost $9,495 (no modeling or rendering) for this "Toy" like capability

http://www.naturalmotion.com/endorphin.htm

I am not suggesting that TS7.5 is a replacement for Endorphin, but I feel pretty comfortable saying that character Animation capabilities of tS7.5 are formidable and it certainly will take you quite a bit of time to explore them.

That was awesome (http://64.34.176.58/tS75_video/BVH.wmv), Roman.

Like I said, I am upgrading my TS6.6 to 7.5. BTW, is the download version comes with the electronic manual? It doesn't say it is in the particular link.

First, thanks for your upgrade order, it is appreciated, it will not not just fund R&D on next TS version but it gives us vote of confidence that we are on the right track. Actualy I meant two animation right below this BVH motion capture import by Mr Bones:) As for the manual, TS7.5 is in electronic form only, with embedded video tutorials. There is also printed TS7.0 manual (1,000 pages) as an option.

Each time I see something new on the site (like those little test animations) it makes me realize more and more that upgrading to TS7.5 and convincing my mate to buy TS 7.5 as a new user was the right choice for our projects. Cant wait to get it in my grubby little mits and start using. :D

Cheers

@Roman: I really had/have no problem with "The lighter/simple side of Roman "O"". I think that most of us were reffering to the marketing of tS in General.

We are still your loyal army of modelers, artists , and doodlers.(warm and fuzzy)

as far as no time off, case in point, this is a sunday evening and Roman has been floating around the forum.

Hey Roman, It wasn't criticism of the technology you were showing, it was the impromptu cuteness that you added to the voice track! I figured the long hours were taking their toll and you needed a holiday, or else you might play with little 3D aardvarks for a just a little too long and never come back! :)

I think we all agree 7.5 is looking very good at this point.. and I am sure about 6 months down the track we will have some excellent examples of user work, and probably quite a few new functionality requests to polish the tools for our own purposes..

re endorphin, It does one thing and it does it spectacularly well, If TS7.5 came close to 90% of endorphins features, it would be great for us, but still not good enough for the industry that has the big bucks.. the last 10% is the expensive bit and is usually about photo realism !

I assumed that the TS charactor animation was more aimed towards the gaming industry, for say charactor animations for intros or such, or in game animation design? lets see what we can do with it though :-)..

THe little videos were real nice and cute.:)

The way TS 7.5 integrates into the pipeline (incl. import and export

formats ) will make TS fit into the workflow of as many as possible

parts of the industry and that makes up the progress (those last 10 % )

towards photorealitic quality of the work that can be done.

I can think of lots of space for development including realistic

fluid-simulation.Or aerodynamics.

Most important the core is there .

I dont see it as a toy!!

It could some day turn out to be a swiss - army - setup tool

for visualisation for "prime time "

If you look at how fast Vue inf. moved into the movie buisness

nothing is realy impossible.

More funds towards R+D - ......... faster development

My opinion...

I think its totally posible make a movie, tv show, comercials, or what ever you like to do..

ITs a fact this is can be posible just with few factors..

1) Good proyect Idea
2) Lot of talent comming from the animator.
3) Time and effort
4) A Software capable to support the animator needs. (Animation n Render)
5) A good salesman to sale your final product..

I have 1 little proyect in mind, and im gonna start as soon i have, learn 7.5

Why with 7.5 and not with 7.11?

Because to animate you need updated animation tools and a nice render engine..

7.11 have the nice render engine (VRAY) but still with the old animation tools.. ;)

What ever.. Sometimes i think if is not a good idea change the name of Truespace for another when the new architecture be migrated, cleaned and "finished"..Because Truespace are allways looked by the 3d comunity as a novice 3d software, and Caligari must change that look, now have a nice software and is not just for novices..;)

Cheers..

i'm in the same boat podigy, an idea but i'm not even sure if i should start the modeling. Are the next gen subdivisional surfaces better for modling characters than 6.6 ones, or should i start to model characters now and open them in 7.5 to add the bones? The wait is starting to getting to me now

I think many of us are pretty much in a holding pattern pending the new release. It even seems to be showing in how quiet the forums have been last few days.

They're feeding the server steroids and protein shakes this week to pump it up for the tsunami of users invading next week! :D

If they are really concerned about the traffic there is an easy solution.

Secretly start early. Anyone that helped with the BETA gets first dibs, then the Pro Teamers, then send out notices to early birds etc. etc. until release time. That way you can control the flow.:)

Yeah, I like this idea. I am also being completely selfish. Or how about the bug squash showdown...Where they release the current release candidate to the pre orderers now, and we can play and maybe squash some bug simultatiously, then they could push the release back another month or so and I would still be happy..a semi open beta. I know this will never happen of course...and what will become of the "Captains BLOG"?

That way you can control the flow.I don't know about the start early part, but I believe that is pretty much the way they do it. If I recall, when trueSpace7 was released Proteam members got their download links first, then the rest. So I think they already do have a pattern like that to ease the load on the servers.

Holding pattern shmolding pattern!;) ;) I'm flat out busy building characters for tS 7.5! I hope to have a few ready with textured and optimised meshes so I can get right to grips with the new animation goodies. I assumed the forum was quiet because everyone else was doing something similar. :) The calm before the storm?

Ha Ha, yeah..I guess no one really reads the bio stuff(BTW check out W!zards, kinda dry, but funny that way..someone else here hates cats)

I was in the ARMY almost 13 years, thank (insert token of praise here) that that is over. All my posts aside from the last two months wer from either Germany(Baumholder, near Trier), Kosovo(near Macedonia), Iraq(Baghdad), France, Albania(who even reads my posts anyway:p ), or Iraq(Ramadi) again.

YES - except make it so that people in countries listed by alphabet, like Australia get it first :-)

Seriously - they should hire out akikami or google bandwidth for a couple of weeks! Its going to blow up, whatever they are expecting!

So the excitement is growing for the 7.5 release. W!zard sounds like he is getting ready by creating characters for 7.5's animation capabilities. (Have you ever animated before W!zard?)

How about everyone else. What ONE thing do you want to try first when you get the new release?

W!zard you can also tell us since I used you as an example.
Animated Characters might not represent the ONE thing you are just dying to try.
Prodigy, everyone knows you can't wait for VRay 1.5 but how about 7.5? What do you want to try first?
I bet 7.11 user's answers might be different but we'll see.

Here is a 7.5 Spec sheet if you need help:

Here is my answer:
I'm actually interested in the new "Soft Shape Paint, Soft Selection" features. I'm looking for an organic feel to modeling.

Steinie, I have a proyect in mind, and i try to make it with 7.5, i think i have all the knowladge and tools to make it now..

I remember when just ready to post in Feature Sugestions, RIGING TOOLS.. and when i saw on, dont remember if was on Captain's Blog but.. Realy i say A big! WOOOOOOOOOWWW....

Rigin is amazing.. and its easy to use..

So, im going to make a nice story board.. make models.. animated, ..Rendered with VRAY 1.5!!!! add sound, and maybe send to a contest or something like that..

I love animation, but i think 7.11 and below the animation tools are unstables..

Motion Studio is cool but i cant render with Vray 1.0 so, i prefer wait and start again with 7.5. :)
