I've just had the jeeblies scared out of me while playing Half-Life 2 (Such an amazing game), so I had to do something to lighten my mood a little.
Still just a work in progress, but I'm sort of stuck here. I'm going to add the rest of that palm tree, but beyond that? Suggestions are most welcome.

Bit more island would be a start...;)
Maybe some fallen coconuts, a nice shadow from the palm leaves, a shark fin in the distance, the trace of someone being there recently; a sandal or similar.
Myself, I work from an imaginary narrative; have I just arrived at the scene, who was here, why have they gone...what happened to them.
This story is in your mind young man...I can only suggest technical aspects...;) |

I'm kind of going for the comically small Island. Also, I am leaning more towards something that shouldn't be there at all. I think juxtaposition is funny. :D |

Matrix? Just if some agents would appear from nowhere. What if you add a curvature to the water so it would look like a tiny planet with a tiny island. |

I was thinking more of the image of the two old men on an island constantly asking each other whether one of thems got some change for the phone. Please tell me someone else has seen this. |

I know what the island really needs: headcrabs, ah no, you wanted to relax from HL2 :D
I really enjoyed HL2, and the addon Episode1 was awesome...little short though :rolleyes:
Hm, ok, back to serious business about island-content: seashells, the last cracked coconut, a skeleton...and a bottle with a message in it...that failed to help him in time...or is that too cruel ? ;)
Oh, and the mentioned sharkfin is a must of course :D
Or things that shouldn't be there? A recycling bin for the bananas?
Another thing that would mix well with a sharkfin is a... hrm..is the thing you jump into a pool from called a trampoline..? |

Or both.
1. The night scene with the sad looking cat on one side of the island
2. The day scene with the ravenous cat licking its lips, looking at the shark, on the other side of the island.
Just shunt those two images together so that you have day on the left and night on the right. |

When I first saw the image I thought it was antennae on some sort of sea monster. 1) Just a copy of TV Guide with the word LOST on the cover.
2) A sign that says "Going out of business Sale"
3) A person in front of a Coke machine, and he is screaming "it ate my change!"
4) A boat goes by and someone on board shouts "do you know how to get to Caligari?"
5) Two scenes, first scene a bearded man finally starts a fire, " I have fire!!!"
Second scene, everything is burnt down on island and man looks bewildered. |

Hmmm, I think it looks rather odd personally. Though thinking about it, a blood thirsty kitten wouldn't exactly look normal. |

Great idea! I think this is going to be the start of the scene version of the squiggle contest: collaboration at it's best. We could set up group projects where everybody that enters is assigned a group and each group is given the task of creating something interesting (as a group) and then there could be a competition, with the winning group getting some sort of points (doesgn' really matter).
Maybe Caligari should start something like this (just a thought). |

PhotoBucket's (http://photobucket.com) quite good if you want to upload images and vids, you get 1gb of space and 10gb bandwidth, dunno if its per month or year. It allows hotlinking (meaning that if you submit a link to a photobucket image, then you can just get there by pressing the link, it also means you can stick images on this forum, even when the source is actually photobucket. Don't ask me why all providers don't do this, it's a money thing) I use it. |
