I think we should all:

1) chip in and by a refridgerator and some gold stickers,

2) place the fridge in a central location (perhaps Kansas),

3) print off our art and send it to the fridge.

Once a month Roman can visit the fridge and issue the appropriate number of stars per art piece:) Hey, that gives me an idea for an artpiece:banana:

So, umm, maybe someone answered this already but how do we vote for a winner of the monthly galleries if we don't see all the entries until after Caligari has made their decision and posted their own gallery winners?

And do we need to have the poll open a whole month?

The only way I can see is to stagger the voting ie. Caligari reveals their decision at the start of the month. Then the forum votes during the rest of that month and at the end of the month the forum result are revealed, and so on and so forth.

Its workable but judging by the deafening silence coming from Caligari on this matter, I wouldn't hold your breath :(

Um, well let me see if I can say this without pouring gas on the fire...

When you see all the images in the gallery you're not necessarily seeing all the entries.

I know because a few years back I submitted an image that didn't make honorable mention. No beef with that here. Picked myself up, reworked the textures on my model, worked on lighting a whole lot and resubmitted a new scene to gain an honorable mention spot a month or so later.

So if you're basing your final decision on the images you see in the gallery you're missing a few in all fairness, just so you know...

Not sure you'd want to bring the missing ones to light, however, for the same reason that folks want the final user poll results to be hidden. Nobody wants to feel as if they've achieved high distinction as last place or close to last place.

P.K.

I agree...I think the best paths to take are the Administrators Gallery and the People's gallery. Actually, what we've done in this thread is a great idea (by having everyone vote and showing the results in a convenient bar graph:)

This will also create an enriched diversity of images every month...which is great for someone like me who likes viewing everyone's art. Starting this next month I'm starting my own forum gallery. Everyone will be welcome to put their work in there and share ideas and opinions:)

At my point of view, i think the best way to make this contest more interesting, is with few judges.. not from the users.. but yes from others members of the caligari team..

Like.. Roman, Norm, Paul and Tom..

So if you're basing your final decision on the images you see in the gallery you're missing a few in all fairness, just so you know... A good point Prof but I personally would have no objection to making my selection from the ones that Romans has chosen. (his judgment isnt that far out of wack ;) )

Like.. Roman, Norm, Paul and Tom.. If there is no chance of there being a user poll then this would be fairer as is would include more than one mans view on 'what is art'.

But at the end of the day it is Roman's company.

I'm still pushing for the user poll. 'The customer is always right' after all ;)

Still no input from Caligari on this? Sigh! :(

Not that Roman needs defending, but here's how I would look at it if I was the CEO of Caligari.

Since the CEO would be the one who takes the money out of his own pocket to pay for prizes I imagine he would have the final and only say.

I see nothing wrong with that. After all, Roman founded the company and it his vision that matters when it comes to what best displays his product.

Do I agree with it? No.

But I don't pay the operating expenses at Caligari either. :)
