I'll be working on my skills in another program. I almost finished modeling the Demon Mech, working on the hair and hands now. Oh it will be able to be animated too. Adding bones is next.
Then maybe I can make a door from a cube or maybe a beach ball with pretty colors on it.
Perhaps I can do a cylinder and call it cylinder.
Nonono.. sorry if you sound wierd.. but i dont want to say you cannot make a door with cubes..
I try to say.. if anyboy can make a door can join us... not you!! if "ANYBODY" cant make a ball.. cant join us.. because need practice.. but if "ANYBODY" can make a door with cubes.. that what is easy.. can join us..
Sorry James if sounds wierd.. but i never try to say that.. |

For the good of us all let him be a man of his word and LEAVE! My gosh we're not baby sitters! Why beg to have him back all he does is put you guys down. It was noble to ask him back and then what he insults Prodigy. No need for that one. Throw him back in he's not a keeper. |

To bad... today im very happy with the people responce and now this.. :(
Thanks Steinie and others, if someday ANYBODY have any complain with my english with something.. Please.. askme first.. maybe i wrote somethink what i dont whant to say.. ALLWAYS
OK.. lets start again..
Lets choose a International Space Station... IF ANYBODY are not agree.. Please rice your hand... ;)
I think to be this thing.. FUNNY.. the most important is .. it must be a FAST proyect.. Nothing about Months... Well its not something for few ours of planning..
Lets try to make a poll with few International Space Station Designs... nothing on 3d.. if you like.. its ok.. but if you dont have time maybe a sketch its ok..
Try to make with some dimentions... to know the scale.. that must be big.. but not to much.. A decent International Space Station.. OR ISS... hehehe
ISS SOUND PRO!!... hehehe
Ok.. ANYBODY can submit your sketches, draws or 3d designs.. then when we had 3 or 4.. we gonna vote the best design..
I miss something??? No... Lets make few sketches... :D |

Moving on...... :) .
A Space Station sounds good. I guess objects could be made by people
and posted to the forum, there needs to be a template for the main station so
everyone knows the scale for areas they're making objects for. Also, if this
is to be a truePlay scene, then textures should be a reasonable size but not
too large.
Just some thoughts, (it's good to have a framework).
Edit: Sorry Prodigy, posted same time as you. |

By the way.. the design must be nice, futuristic if you want but not too dificult.. remember.. this is our fist time, and are many users with diferent skills.. bring job to all... :D
I know we are a good comunity.. lets work!! :) |

Dont worry.. heheh.. thats happend on the best families..
You bring good points..
I THINK!!!! First we need to have the proyect.. then we must cut piece by piece..
Then post all the parts..
Any user can request any part who wants.. Dificutl easy or i dont know..
Yes your are right.. the textures size must be standarizated at 512x512 or less.. but main textures must be equals and we must chose before start.. like metal, decals or something...
Lets see whats happen when we choose the design... ;) |

Is this going to have the focus on interior or exterior spaces?
Because if you're building it to cage me, I'd prefer it roomy but not so large that it takes all day to mop the floor.
Something with lots of windows would be nice. |

I have in mind this image...
A clean white space full of windows to see the earth rotating outside....
Take in mind this proyect can be on trueplace... "That if caligari support our proyect" but i think yes..
We must work on the outside and inside.. i think make few rooms for countrys or better.. rooms for any continent.. a place to put images or whatever you whant to put from your country... Germany Usa UK Canada Australia.. any country have a little space on the ISS... can be an option
Anything you want to see on that ISS can be there.. :) |

For the interior I move that it be something along the lines of the interior of the Tantive IV (Princess Leia's Blockade Runner in Star Wars Episode IV) but with windows!

I could post a decent 3D model I found if anyone likes the idea! |

 Prodigy, I think your station is taking off. I think it's a good environment for collaboration, even for people with still limited TS experience like me. The nice thing is, an ISS is not just built to accomodate a few people circling the Earth in an elliptical orbit, but to perform all kinds of scientific experiments. There you have it. There will be corners dedicated to small, clean scientific gadgets and things. - And room for Spacekdet to mop the floor, of course ;) - So a simple rectangular and oblong map of the station, with an inventory of possible (imaginary) experiments would be a good start. The room suggested by Methusela seems excellent. The weird boxes on the wall could actually be the confinements of these labs (like tables that open). Ibrent suggested to take the lead in project management, seems a good suggestion to me, you need someone to assign the tasks, taking into account skills etc. Your idea of including the nationalities is also very interesting, even my country, Holland, has done quite a few experiments on several space missions. Just stick national flags on a nice visible surface somewhere. And of course you have all the other objects attached to the station of floating around. I cannot wait seeing one of you model a floating blob of water that has escaped from a bottle :) - I think, Prodigy, that your next step could be a rough pencil sketch, the forums are very rich in people that can come up with weird experiments (weightless pork, a colony of space mech ants, a radiation proof space watch....)
I hope you don't find me presumtuous, talking so much, ..., I will be the one that tries some simple bits and bobs.:o |

The Valley Forge from Silent Running would be kinda cool with the Forest Domes, Huey, Dewey, and Louie running around and what not. I hope that this ends up into Shared Space in some shape or form because that would a great way to Collaborate on a team project like this. |

TrueBlue, good idea! I didn't know that one, and found it in Wikipedia. I attached a picture for others who, like me, didn't know it was a movie. These forest doomes look kind of cool. Seems to me that someone will have to dive into the work of Buckminster Fuller. And Prodigy's project suddenly takes on quite a new dimension:D |

Could this be a manageable basic form? With the connecting tubes inspired by the image supplied by Methusela? Connecting 3 or 2 domes = 3 or 2 environments with more stuff in it. |

This was my idea, we could use the hallways in the ring and the bits connecting the ring to the main thing. The reason I think this is a good idea is because we can give everyone who participates a dome, and we can just add rings and domes as needed! That way everyone gets to design some kind of neat experiment or "World" inside their dome!
I also really like Burisman's idea alot. I've not seen you around here before, and if you're new, welcome to the forums! Good to have you on board! Your idea's great, it might also even be really cool if instead of domes, they were spheres, and the inside looked like Cerebro of X-Men (the movies mostly).
Anyways, here's a rough sketch of my idea: |

Methusela, thanks for the welcome. I have been around for a little while, but indeed sporadically, because I haven't a long track record in TS as you guys. You really amaze me, in the time I drew a simple pencil sketch, you came up with a model, really great. I think you solved the essential question, your model is completely modular and scalable. I also like your idea of spheres, as it more or less does away with the concept of gravity. I wish I had already attained the level of speed and skill to keep up with you guys!:( :o |

You can get a whole lot done when you stay up all night. XD
I'm no master, though I do appreciate the kind words! And don't be discouraged or anything, I'm sure you'll get really good at this whole 3D malarkey, you just gotta give it time and practice! Let's see if you and I can't successfully combine our rough sketches somehow...
Any ideas? |

Going off of Burisman's idea, here's something I thought was kind of cool. Also, if enough people join in, we can add domes like in my first idea along the pipes/tunnels leading from each sphere (sorry the glass looks so bad >_<).
Lemme know what you all think! |

I can't improve on Methusela's beautifully intricate design, so don't mind the crude nature of this one. What I only want to propose is these floating platfoms in the spheres to have a base for 'landscaping', of a room to perform experiments...
Methusela's wheel (1st attempt) is still a good modular form.
A simple chain (2nd picture) is duller, but also modular.
Methusela's rotated triangles are definitely fun, especially when it grows.;)
Do you think adding platforms makes sense? |

What versions of trueSpace is everyone using? Not to put off anyone with an earlier version of course. It shouldn't matter what version though those with 7.11 may be able to do some online collaboration too for sharing/developing objects. Gotta remember to share down the objects though for the benefit of everyone. Posting .cob files and such... |

Good to point that one out Professor! I only have to figure out how to post objects (well, my objects will not be the most sophisticated of the lot:rolleyes:
Using 7.11
Matski007, I think what Prodigy meant by starting this project was to demonstrate the principle "the more the merrier". Everyone jumped in spontaneously, so welcome. I guess a Senior Member will be more useful in such a project than a newbie like me:o |

Ok, will heres a suggestion, anyone here ever play Startopia? it was an awesome strategy game where you had to run a spacestation, it was set out in a ring shape with different sections:
http://www.gamegenie.com/reviews/pc/images/startopia2.jpg
Could be perhaps a slightly more simple way of doing this, but I do also like the dome idea. |

aloha!!! well well well.. nice ideas!!
First i like very much the idea to build a Dome with plants and crystal to see the Spece..
But i see a problem on the 2nd design from burisman because how you can go from the top to the bottom without a elevator?? if an elevator can be inserted with script or something.. i accept that idea. .but if not the structure must be on the same level or with stairs.. ;)
Other idea. can be insert a robotic hand outside... to move some parts ouside.. like a telescope or build something.. with commands..
Other idea its have a control pannel where we can see cameras.. I know now we can do that with 7.5 but i dont know if trueplace support the new projector "with J" ...
HO!! yeha.. try to search few hamsters cases.. can bring good ideas!! :) at my point of view its the same thing... hehehehe |

Some cool ideas already guys. :) If this is intended for truePlay we may want to keep in mind that an environment would have to be designed so we could walk around in it. Gravity only works in one direction in truePlay so the environment design must have a standard up and down.
So while all these designs look very cool, I think Burisman's or Matski's ideas are more practical right now. :) |

I've made an elevator before, it kind of worked but not very good. The problem was collision detection wasn't that great so the character would studder all the way up and then wouldn't come down with the elevator properly. So I would have to say that an elevator probably wouldn't be practical just yet.
You could have stairs or even platforms that people could jump to. |

Dont know a massive amount about trueplay, but I also think that we have to be careful about scale because some systems might not be able to handle a massive amount, so how about the sections instead of actually be connect, we split it into many seperate scenes:
you have a scene with walkways and windows and doors, when u click a door you are transported to that section/scene, thus loading times will be much faster and also we can open it to public as soon as the walkways and 1 area has been complete and say the others are still under construction, this will make things a lot more simple if we are all doing one part each, we wont have to rely on one another to complete certain bits.
Also a template should be made up, so all the domes/sections are the same dimensions and everyone starts from the same thing and builds the content inside |
