I am using it to create a user manual for a client.
Still a work in progress..but here is a sample.
All UV toon shading...
I like it ! I've done similar work...but handtraced the contours in photoshop. This method looks cleaner and better ! :) |

Yup..me too...lol
Much cleaner..and MUCH faster..especially when trying to do an animation.
:)
Play with it a bit..as you kind of have to model based on the shader..so as to not get too many edges (polys) rendered in 'toon'.
PS
Blockiness on some parts is due to no SDS/low polycount..not the shader. |

And this is made completely using U|V toon. Wow, I thought UV toon was good, but not that good.
Anyway, back onto topic:
Currently I am trying to model my avatar, eventually I might stick it in my Kart, just for fun. I am going to go play around with U|V toon some more; as when I used it I blended it with a 'real' version, this time i'll try it all in U|V toon. |

I did wonder if it would sound a bit big-headed putting that, and had originally put something like "of course being able to model helps too", however I didn't think people would take it quite like you did so i scrapped that bit. |

Erm......leaving that one unanswered..........can we not destroy my thread please.......
PS - I was trying to apologise (to Humdinger not you) in that previous post, you obviously took it the wrong way. |

Ok, back to your thread-any recent pics of your Kart?
By the way, my UV experiments with your bumper are not reaping any benefits at the moment...:( |

Well I have been playing with it for a few years now...though only recently did I shut off the 'Surface Normal' shading as mentioned before. As a result the toon shading is more 'predictable'.
Also you really do have to model with the shader in mind..as a model that looks 'good' with a traditional shader may not look like what you want when render in 'toon'
PS
No 'insult' taken. |

Aah yes, my Kart. I'm currently experimenting with toon shader a bit more, hopefully should have some interesting effects. When I do post that render I will add some little bits i've missed out, like the fuel line and the brakets for the bumpers.

Aah, I see. It's going to be interesting to see what my version is going to be like then. My kart wasn't really designed to be render with toon shader, but it'll look alright, I'll probably post a 'real' version too.
No 'insult' taken.Oh, good! |

Not as it is anyway. I might make a special adaptation to the kart that brings the steering wheel forward and also the pedals..... |

I will get back to my kart soon to produce some final renders, currently I am working on an RC Fan Car (http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/showthread.php?t=1002) (please reply to it in its own thread not here) |
