(RC11 none the less)

I did not see mention of a beta release in the interviews, I am pretty sure we have not hit RC11 yet though...

The only thing I see is that Heidi mentioned beta 10 or 11. I don't think RC was mentioned anywhere.

According to the promotional e-mail the release date is supposed to be on the 18th, but I see there's a caveat in case they run long. Personally I'd rather see them release a week or two late if it gives them time to hammer out any remaining bugs and limitations, especially if there are any that obstruct workflow.

Yup, take yoor time, I would rather a stable release for the users rather than a rushed release for the accountants ;)

I stand corrected, but I'm sure it's in the RC stages at this point.

I mailed customer services about a week ago just out of curiosity and not expecting an answer and they said it was going to be the end of the month.

I was concerned I had missed an email for the download version....

Two possibilities for that answer:

-they didn't want to give the real release date and gave that one to put you off.

-that person didn't know what they were talking about.

I think today is the last day for pre-orders, so tomorrow may be a possibility.

My Visa hasn't been debited yet, and I'm sure that that will be the first thing that they will do upon release! :D

if you check the small print on at least the v-ray pre-order page it says:

pre-order offer until 18th OR release date, whichever is later.

could be a week or so yet, pity i was hoping it would be today.

Truth be told I'm just looking for something that's more stable on Vista. 6.6 works fine but occasionally does some wierd things and often hangs when you exit. Saying that, I've had some spectacular crashes on XP in the last few days when switching between projects - I reckon it's the machine though.

I am told it's gonna be the end of the month. I would rather it be a stable release than it come out to early with loads of bugs..:)

So a week or 2 to wait..:(

Dev's are working around the clock and a few extra options are being put in as well as bug fixes.

So, every day extra you wait means a more stable and feature packed version for you...:)

Prodigy I dont think they can set a release date, if a problem occurs, then it has to be fixed. I email customer services and they said around the end of the month. I am sure if there was a fixed date then I would have been given it. :o

I just got an email from caligari saying the release is 30th April, a week Monday.

That makes me think that perhaps there was a plan to release it yesterday/today but are still troubleshooting

Well Caligari announced the release will be late because of bugs. Although we all can't wait to get our hands on the new software we prefere a stable release too. So as they say DownUnder..."No Problems Mate"

Greetings fellow truespacers.

It's been a while since I've posted, as I've been a bit devoid of inspiration recently. Concentrating on finding employment from day to day to keep the hunger at bay. Who would've thought it was so difficult to find physics teaching vacancies?

Anyway, I'm hoping to have my inspiration re-initialised with a 7.5 upgrade. I was holding off until the dollar weakened even more against the pound. Now it's a real steal.

Quality of work I see is continuing to improve with the new rendering options.

I may have missed some details, but does vray have multi-layered textures yet?

Cheers to all

Chris

ChrisJ,

Not official but we're told there is no multi-layered textures in VRay yet.

Someone from Caligari can correct me if that was incorrect.

Nice to have you back.

Hi all,

We were working hard to get the news of the release date change out to you all - believe me we have a lot of groups to mail! So while we hoped to make the announcement earlier yesterday, it didnt get out the door until the evening. Sorry for that delay - naturally I couldnt reply here before that mail went out.

The website is now about to get its update on all the dates and info too, again just the sheer mass of emails to go out took up all of yesterday so something had to give, as they say.

The statement on layered materials is correct, no official announcement in that there is no statement about layered shaders being in there or about them not being in there.

Furious work continues on the software, and we'll keep up the furious work in keeping you up to date and informed too. I can tell you that we have never been so busy :)

The delay is frustrating, we'd love to get all the new stuff out to everyone, but we do want to wait until it's right, so we'll just have to be a little frustrated until then. It's going to be an exciting time shipping this out to everyone and letting you all put your creative skills to work in 7.5 and seeing what you come up with! That's the reward and payback for us, for the hard work in development, so we are looking forward to that :)

HTH!

Tom

i don't think anyone resents having to wait another week, just keep the teasers and news of new features coming to keep us excited:)

Would it be possible for you to show a list of bugs that have been caught and exterminated to show people how hard you've all been working? I'm sure when people see the amount of work that goes into something like this they'll understand why it can over run if they don't already.

Well, that gives us considering purchasing VRay 1.5 to go with TrueSpace 7.5 a bit more time. But still no sign of the What's New In 1.5 for VRay. So I'm going to ask straight out here... Animated textures... These are a huge thing for me. Will VRay 1.5 support them? Can I texture an AVI onto a surface and have it play during an animation? This question is kind of a key hinge on my decission so if we could get an answer on this, that would be great.

Im agree... The poor lvl of information it drives me crazy... Im dont have any problem if caligari still working cos i belive n' hope they are working hard to fix new bugs or who knows..

But wait n wait to know what finaly gonna have on truespace is not sane for my health.. :D

But realy, are few basic things on any 3d program like animated textures, the mapped texture shader on Vray and the middle mouse button on the workspace, are ESENTIAL! to get a nice workflow on any scene.. To make a tv, to make a Floor with diferent shines or reflections on a same texture.. And for me.. the mid mouse button, rotate and with a double click look the object are esential to pass to the new workspace.. Im very concerned about that.. cos im still working on the model side, and if that are not supported will be more dificult my transition between the model to the workspace.. and about the vray support, to back again to work on lightworks to make a simple animated tv or get a floor with a mapped shader..

This is for me 3 Esential points.. and i report from the beginning of 7.5 develop and i never never never see an answer... Im very patient, but im still having doubts about what i buy because i never recive a explicit anwser.

Hope somebody understand what i try to say..:o

I wonder if middle mouse button capability could be incorporated via either the SDK or scripting.

It actually can. there's a background widget node and mouse listener node, and conditional or which should be hooked up directly to where the navigation widget is. Won't have time to do it but maybe one of the scripters will since it should only take a couple of minutes for them. I don't have time at the moment :)

Hi guys, and thanks..

Délé you make a step forward with your script. Excelent Work and better if you share with others..

First i know there are many many talent people in this comunity, full of knowladge and happy to help others.. But i cant expect somebody make a script to get animated textures supported by Vray on truespace.. If are so simple why is not supported natively.. and plus.. maybe im posting without sense because maybe that are fixed right now, but who knows???

TS still on develop, and if that are not supported i must wait another 6 months to see IF are supported on 7.6 or 8.0..

I very concerned about this IMO esential things on any 3d software..

Animated textures, mapped shaders.. are esentials on any Render engine..
I think lightworks support from ts.5 but in 7.5 who knows..

About the mid mouse button.

The tendence is click on a little red bar on a corner from the screen drag and doing that you can rotate.. move the mouse to the model.. again go to a corner and click again on a small green bar.. and look and blablabla.. just to look a object form another angle.... is more optimized click on the mid mouse button and move.. User interface guys!

Double click on the mouse button, you look at the selected object.. nono.. i must go to the look at icon. click and then the object be centred on the screen..

In Player that is not supported, in the Trueplay 1.22 is not supported..And i dont know if that will be supported on the next upgrade..
IM very very concerned if that are not supported on 7.5 because thats one of the worst point on 7.11 and on my transition between Model > Player side..

The best example is my 3.2 speed model challenge.. i cant do nothing good fighting to rotate or looking to a object.. i lost to much time fighting with that widgets..

Realy im gonna be VERY VERY happy if that be supported on 7.5 , i see many many excelent tools inside, but i dont know if what i request (nothing stupid in my opinion) are solved, fixed or added on this new released.

If the answer is not, i must ask some of you to make a script to solve what truespace 7.5 doesnt have..

But if are easy for some of you to make that.. i think can be easy too for the ts developers..

Best regards!

It is going to be impossible for Caligari to get all of the functionality that all of the users consider essential into this version of TS. We are all going to see things that we feel must be in there not included. Not an easy pill to swallow, but just a fact of life. Some of the community are stepping forward and temporarily filling the missing pieces for us. That's a good start for now in my opinion. At this late point if it ain't in there, it is not likely to be in there. I do not know for sure what is and is not included, I work in a different part of the program.

Based on all of the info I have seen in the brochures, emails and the Capt. Blog the program has a good deal of new features to explore...

Sorry if that was of no use to you, it's probably the best anyone is going to be able to tell you.

Rich, thanks for your relpy..

let me tells you a story..

6 moths ago, i need to do a scene with the brand new vray1.0. A animated camera showing few flats with a tv spot... I cant.. Paul Ashingtong calls to me and propose merge vray renders with lightworks render.. IMPOSIBLE!

Try to render a lightworks shot and vray on full screen.. are not the same.. he make a script to try to help to fix that.. but i lost more time trying to merge than telling to my customer, sorry dude! i cant do a simple tv.. If you look the my Vray animation (most amazing proyect) you can see the flats are only with a simple texture.. are nothing animated.. Try to add a Marlin studio People n' motion texture.. you cant..

This are 100% esential for me and for anybody who need to make a tv, a cinema, fake caustics, make water or anithing animated..

Is not esential for me get motion blur..(Telled on Captain's blog not listed on 7.5 list) Im not telling this, and is ok..

Whats happend with something implemented on TS 6 or 5.1 (dont remember) telled as a better user interface with the mid mouse button..

First add then extract.. who know if the next version we had a render button because caligari think is not esential...

Maybe you get TS for free, then you think are not esential. But i must pay for each upgrade.. for try to see if the bugs are fixed or not.. Thats a big problem..

And plus we dont know what caligari are doing.. fixing.. supported.. implemented... erased... we just dont know..

Just im worried about this.. I just see few screen shots.. few animations but the real software and the real test be when it be installed on my computer and see with my own eyes if i can do or i can't do what i need to do....

Tellme, you as a beta tester.. nobody test in 7.11 a camera can't reduce the size?? that kind of things i call it esentials..

Nothing personal Rich realy, but i like truespace to much and when i see something wrong i never shut up..

Caligari never releases complete product information before it is ready to ship. That is how they due business. Advising customers on a potential feature, then not shipping the product with that feature is not good. No matter how much complaining is posted, Caligari will kept to their current policy.

I think it is not wise to take on a project that your software can't handle. Taking on a project and then later learning your software can't handle the project is not wise either.

It is clear that the new tS architecture is a work in progress, otherwise there would be no need for model space (tS6.6). This new architecture has vast potential to allow trueSpace to become one of the leading 3d programs. The idea is very similar to what Modo is doing. Migrating 6.6 tools and adding new tools to the new architecture will take some time.
