Uhhh, Vray has been available for a while. It is difficult to locate the link though, if I remember correctly. |

Do you know if
A) the 1.0 version will work or...
B) this will be a forced upgrade...or...
C) the standard added features free type of upgrade...or

Roman says that if 1.0 doesn't work in 7.5, they'll make it work with a patch. So we won't have to worry about being without VRay.

Ok, for those of you following this post....no, there is no Vray 1.5 or 2.0 for trueSpace as of 23 MAR 07.
There are however improvements to lightworks(hopefully "FG"). on the model side.....
Now with that said. Caligari team, Roman specificaly, it seems as though we are moving to a crossroads. When tS gets rid of the "model" side where will we stand with our renderer???
1) will lightworks move over to the Workspace(I can only remember "player")?
2) will Vray become the default, and lightworks be dissmissed?
3) will the "player" side look so good we will not require a non realtime renderer? |

Here's some quotes from Tom Grimes that might help a bit:
One important point is that this is the release information for trueSpace7.5. V-Ray is a separate item, and will have its own release information (in terms of pricing, release date, emails, etc). So do please notice this announcement only covers updates to trueSpace and not to V-Ray - there's no V-Ray functionality covered here, as that is not part of this upgrade. News on that (functionality, pricing, date) will be coming as soon as we can release it, of course!

No implication on time scale for V-Ray release is intended, so please do just wait and see. I can say that V-Ray work has been ongoing at the same time as the 7.5 development work. If by "long time" you mean 2 months or more, that would be very unlikely for it to be that long. But no guarantees given on the date as the unexpected could always happen. However by my definition of a "long time" it won't be a long time before V-Ray is out.
Buying tS7.5 on pre-release and V-Ray on pre-release once it comes out will most likely be the cheapest option - pre-release is generally the cheapest you will see the product for several years, if you look back over history.
Should there be a combined V-Ray and 7.5 offer on the completion and launch of V-Ray, you can be assured you will not find yourself losing out by paying more if you have upgraded to 7.5 already.
So, for those considering upgrading to 7.5, you can do say safe in the knowledge that adding V-Ray to it when available will be no more expensive (and might even be less expensive) than waiting for the V-Ray release to see if there is a bundle

standard stuff, I just don't visit as often as I once did and caught the impression that I may have missed some tidbit of info somewhere. Thanks.
I am still curious though what will eventually happen with the "model" side and when lightworks will be moved/if, and still wondering about the FG in lightworks 7.6. |

I hope they give us a list of features added to VRAy when the preorder notice comes out. For an Amateur the price is rather high and I would want to know if its worth the price to upgrade. |

As noted in a previous thread, Lightworks 7.6 is not included in tS7.5, it is the same version of Lightworks as in tS7.11 (had we updated it, we would have been sure to mention that in detail in the 7.5 information of course).
Modeler side is still there for this version, so no answers to give at the moment on questions about what happens when it goes. Mind you there is enough happening in tS7.5 without the need to start worrying about what will happen in future versions (before 7.5 is even out the door) :)
And same comments as before on V-Ray pre-release :) You'll know when the pre-release is due, that will be when it arrives in your mailbox ;)

thanks Tom, too much info is never enough sometimes. I thought it was lightworks ver 7.6 but, I guess I was wrong..I know it mus be quite annoying getting these questions..when 7.5(tS) is not even "out the door"..sheesh..users:p
