Vray 1.5 :D

Someone could think it's the Original Vray 1.5 version... but it isn't.

Similar like driving a Ford with a Porsche engine :D

Agree, I do not see the problem with 1.2. After all, it is effectively a point upgrade, whereas the Vray releases from 1.0 to 1.5 were significant upgrades.

Here is my million dollar question (Prodigy please do currency conversion for me)
Will VRay 1.5 be able to use these materials?
http://www.vray-materials.de/

The announcement shows this graphic (below) so as they say on a Meatloaf CD "What's it gonna be boy, YES or NO?".....

p.s. Heidi your glass slippers add class to the advertisement!

In a word...NO (well, not as far as I know).

What you have there are the Vray scenes converted for tSVray to show off the tS materials. As the others are for Max (or similar, I get confused) they are not compatible with tS Vray at the moment.

Of course, an official line this is not, just what I am led to believe.

But we have Vray shaders so you can make your own materials...:)

NO ;)

We (mostly parva) rebuild this scene (with permission from vray-materials.de) in the german ts forums to make a vray4ts material database.

As far as i know parva asked caligari to provide this scene but nothing happened (the content/materials/vray section is a 404) ;)

Misc is right. I and Vizu got the permission from the makers of vray-materials.de to use this scene for trueSpace/Vray materials but vray-materials has nothing to do with trueSpace/Vray. We thought it would be a good material test scene but until yet the scene didn't gone public (I think due to the fact that there are too many problems with vray shaders yet and the possibilites are quite low - no layering etc.).

The materials at vray-materials.de are just for the 3ds max version of vray.

Of course it's possible that Dennis and Mirko extend this in the future for other Vray versions too.

so just what are we getting in this update? I will probably buy it anyway lol, but just curious

also notice that on both the TS 7.5 page and the Vray 1.5 page it displays a picture derived from one of my very old entries on the gallery:

http://www.caligari.com/mail1/images/VRU_Artist_Feature02_t.jpg

Which is amusing because it was made in TS 6.6 lol of course without Vray hahahaha

HI all.. First very impresive with the Beta Testers comments..

Cos i think they cant say nothing before his release. What ever.. thanks for the comments  i allways apreciate the info....

Second, Yup, im agree with : theres no comparative info between 1.0-1.5

Third, Im agree the name can be 1.1 or 1.2. cos that can make a confusion on other customers. When i saw i think... WOW VRAY 1.5????????? and its not.. :(

Fourth Im agree its a misstake use other VRAY "Objects" to show Vray materials without any compatibility.. that confuse Users too..

Fifth. The glass shoe are using VRAY 1.0 not 1.5 or not???

Sixth. there is no a full screen from the new shaders or settings.. only that very small images..

Seventh I have lot of other questions... But i think i know the answer. (Nop untill his release.)

BUT.

Eighth for me 49$ its very accesible.. But only hope the new VRay have a few fixed bugs... I will pay that very happy... :D I have a very nice experience with Vray..

Again, my recommendation to the Caligari Team...

Im one of those guys who like very very much Vray plugin.. Im allways pushing to others uesrs to buy because i feelt its an amazing tool..

But Think better when you make a promo, Make new Renders, with many Examples and with very explicit information and without any kind of confusing info.

Change the 1.5 for 1.2 its a very nice point... ;)

Because whats happend on the next release?? We gonna beat Vrays version???

Hope understand my points..

on the other hand, I know us..it is completely possible people would assume a completely behind version of Vray, had they labeled it 1.2. On the other hand it is more of a 1.1, the MAX version supported at least their standard(with layers)material from the get go....(sigh)oh well, such are the trials and tribulations of brand loyalty.

Hello,

one question. Why is it not possible to use the materials from the V-ray page??

I face the same problem with the materials available on the Lightworks page. They offer tons of readymade stuff which would be grate help for me - and others too - but upto here I couldn't find a way to use this LWA in TS7:( .

Maybe somebody here as a solution.

So far the only thing I can see that distinguishes Vray 1.0 from 1.5 is DOF. :/

I updated from 1.0 to 1.5 on faith alone. There is nothing in Caligari's ad that tells me why I should send them more money. NOTHING!!! Their describing 1.0 and it's features.

NDA won't sell anything! I'll do this because you guys did a great job with 7.5. I hope you can sleep at night...

Yup.. they spend all your work on 7.5

Bad for Vray users..

We must leave to talk TOMG about Vray 1.5

Steinie: yes.. the new point showed is DOF.. on captains blog talk about Motion Blur.. but at this time i never see nothing about Motion blur or talk about it outside...

Realy im sad with this promos, cos i know all this work have behind lot of effort, and a bad promo opaques a good software and many days of work.. :(

I ordered a copy but then again I don't have V-Ray 1.0, choosing instead to wait a bit until bugs (hopefully) got fixed.

Good choice getting it.:)

J_edwards, It's really a double edge sword. On one side are the users telling everyone how nice it is. The other edge of the sword is hidden and seems to be used by Ninjas. (Their invisible right?)

Steinie.. you are realy funny :D

The pre release are good oportunitys to get the last version, but if anybody are not 100% sure to get this new release can wait "Our Tests" and you can get your own picture about the new Vray..

What i expect for this Version??

1) Planar Light Falloff Bug Fixed
2) a Mapped Shader
3) Better animation support
4) DOF and Motion Blur
5) Hair Render Support
6) multi-pass rendering
7) Few small bug fixed..

I know are few points fixed or supported but nothing official..

Nothing else. Hope work better with 1.5

HO!! yes.. the last point is Displacent Mapping.. ;)

You can see clear examples here.. (http://www.vray-materials.de/all_materials.php?mat=1040)

and Here.. (http://www.vray-materials.de/all_materials.php?mat=978)

By the Way clearly showed on Captain's Blog (http://forums1.caligari.com/truespace/attachment.php?attachmentid=1777&stc=1&d=1152246833) But that is the Player side.. is not a Vray Render..

Don't forget that this page is about more than selling to everyone who already has 1.0 - the information is for those who don't have ANY V-Ray at all, in fact who may not have tS7 at all.

So that is why there is no comparitive list of the features, because for the new users that would be more confusing than helpful. It's also why we have V-Ray 1.0 images in there (and same thing with animation; takes a while to produce a nice finished scene to render, so beta never gives us the best images to show off what a render engine can do!).

Would it really be that confusing if you guys created a comparitive list like you have for the different versions of ts5-7 it might give someone more incentive to purchase ts7.5 with it or without and want to get it a little later. It was kinda of annoying to see that page and think that you guys meant tsvray1.5 when you really show tsvray1.0. A list would actually be good enough for me unless because of the NDA and the features could be added or subtracted thing you kept it vague by showing few pictures of tsvrary1.5.

then again I do see the point of it being a more confusing since tsvray1.5 only works (maybe for the moment?) with ts7.5, but a list of some sort would be helpfull for those who own and even those who don't own imo.

hopefully what Prodigy listed makes it into tsvray1.5 and hope that multi-layer vray materials work. It should be possible to tie it into ts's mat layer system which is what 3ds did until choas group actually created a multi-layer node, but it's only in the Vray 1.5 SDK which isn't standalone yet so caligari would have to use its own layer system and implement tsvray1.5 materials based on that. Would be cool if choas group released there Vray 1.5 SDK in time for ts8.

Where is the page for upgraders? What are the benefits to spend 49$ for VRay 1.5 for TS?

So, if I'm not mistaken, users who paid $300 for v-ray 1.0 have to now buy 1.5...I apologize Roman, Tom, Norm, and all the rest...but that is utter nonsense(IMO)..I would understand if it was feature laden with the things that were not listed as features on the old forums..But these features were listed when the announcement was made(way back). This may seem harsh..but I actually feel as though I (and all the other Vray 1.0 license carriers) deserve this for free.

RANT RANT RANT

This would be, IMO, completely tolerable if it were more features AND was for tS 8.

Anyway, my soap box broke, so I gotta go home.

Roman did say a fix (or patch) will be given to all VRay 1.0 owners for free to work with 7.5.
VRay 1.5 will have more features but only the Ninjas know what they are. So Owners of VRay 1.0 wanting to upgrade to 1.5 are doing so blindly. There might be candy in the bag or dog poop.

Hhehehehe.. that its true.. but i trust on Caligari too..

To this promo i think they need to show more about VRAY 1.5, you can send a promo without good stuffs.. its better just wait to get better works from the Beta testers "like from the Image Gallery".. But the other point is you can make amazing stuffs with 1.0 its like how much diferences have a render from from Truespace 6.5 and 6.6???

Are the same thing..with less or more bugs but its the quality of the artist what it makes the diference...

Realy i like to know the diferences, i know the potential from Vray..and for meits the same 1.0 than 1.5 but i need to know how many bugs or new features have that new version..

Your right Prodigy, VRay is worth it. However when Caligari tells us the new features might confuse new users.....

Thats the reason we're not being told? Then be fair and extend the deadline for owners of VRay 1.0. Common sense guys. Award Customer loyalty.

There were some bad feelings about 7.0 as being Evolutionary. Well the Revolutionary 7.5 is being priced very fairly with tons of new features and I can see their giving Loyal users more than we expected. They started the Captains Blog and kept us up to date on improvements and features. (Except for UV Mapping and Texturing). Even today Roman keeps us informed and up to date with TS. Why not the same treatment with VRay?
