Even if they're ripped off, they're really nice...I'm actually on a sci-fi kick right now. I'm working on very ambitious, cool sci-fi scenes!woohoo!
Wait a sec...wasn't that guy the lead singer for Zepplin?
This just gets weirder and weirder:| |

Good point...EVERYONE yearns for controversy...it snatches us from our meager, earthly woes and puts our daily lives into perspective. The simple fact is I'm SURE that Robert Plante is feeling horrible about being caught....secondly, the other images are probably his...thirdly, I think he needs a sympathetic shoulder to cry on. Someone who does something like this on a macro-scale is secretly crying out for help.
If you want to talk, Robert, let me know...digitaldali_m_76@yahoo.com. I may not understand your frustrations, but i can certainly listen. Something tells me you need someone to listen:) |

And by the way.. The best way to eliminate that kind of trick's is "Submit your work WITH screenshot's of the wireframe" and you can win plus points if you add a picture of you smileing and the wireframe on your monitor behind you.... :D
That might be a good idea. (Though of course, it wouldn't completely prevent this, as someone out there might have their wireframes up as well. ) Still, it's a relatively easy task for a legitimate entry to satisfy that is a bit harder for an illegitimate one, so it could help prevent something like this from happening again. |

Here is an example..
For one hand.. we had the 3D.. and how much change if you take few minutes on Photoshop..
Prodigy you are going to really see the lines blur between traditional 3d applications and Photoshop CS3 extended which support built in 3D capabilities. I tell you the month of April with tS 7.5 and all the CS3 applications will be a early Christmas for me (or would that be a late Christmas  )
See the Photoshop CS3 extended 3d capabilites:

I for one would love to see a higher res version of the planets crashing! That image was amazing!
The win was very well deserved, W!ZARD, congrats very much! Especially since there are easily years and years worth of modeling in that scene!
The runner up is yet another mouth-watering addition to the 3D car field by Kheang Chrun, always been a huge fan of his work.
Loved all the honourable mentions as well! Keep at it you lot! (I have yet to progress beyond the honourable mention, so I feel your pain! XD)
As for the "scandal," it's undoubtedly sad. However, if Robert did, in fact, make at least some of the images, I'd be simply delighted to see them and listen to how they were made! If I recall, there were an awful lot of really good ones! I'd certainly be willing to forgive him and everything. I'd love to have another active forum member! |

Just thought it might be important that I share this: there's another image uploaded by Robert Plante in the June 06 gallery. I think this image actually is his, but there is no way for anyone to be sure by this point.

Alas, we've seen cases of stolen artwork before though this is the first case which affected the submissions to the gallery that I know of.
Remember a few years back when Geneg got his Stevie Ray Vaughn image lifted and sold on Ebay as original hand painted art on stretched canvas. They even went as far as to crop the top of the picture such that his signature wouldn't show.

This stuff happens quite often. Digitaldali, you are quite generous in asking him to contact you should he wish to talk. I'm not sure I could find it within myself to do the same, but it's an admirable gesture on your behalf.
Seeing stuff like this leaves me with a kind of empty feeling. :( Even though I submitted no image to the contest I feel like I was cheated out of full enjoyment of the gallery images for this and past months. Imagine the same feeling is magnified for the artists with actual submissions.
Sad indeed because so many other worthy artworks have the shadow of scandal taking away from their deserved fame.
The remaining "true" entries are quite good! W!zard, your image rocks and I thank you for letting us see it being developed behind the scenes. :) |

I just understand what it's like to be screaming for help and no one bothers to listen. I've been there several times myself...in fact, that's why I do digital art...just for therapy:) |

I hear you there Zachary! If it ain't fun then why do it? Digital art is a huge release for me - it's extremely thereapeutic, something to do with looking at the pretty colours and lights I think:D
Thanks for the kind words Prof and Methusela and others. Led Zeppelin rocks IMHO. Jimmy Page and Robert Plant (the original one) where directly respionsible for inspiring me to learn to play the guitar. |
