First, thanks to Caligari for adding the MDL7 format.
Second, is it due to paying royalties that the fbx format is not supported?
BTW if you have not read it you can find it here.
http://www.caligari.com/products/trueSpace/ts75/Brochure/specification.asp?Cate=BSpecification
BTW @Caligari: on the introductory page, the images showing the different layout seem to open the same layout regardless which image you select. |

I doubt it, there are no royalties on BVH or Collada neither of those are supported  We are still stuck with the same formats that are in TS right now, the improved X format is probably the one that is in GameSpace...
So we now have the ability to make good character animations but what can we do with them? :o For me I need to get them into other packages, this is not what I was told would happen... very, very mad right now.

I thought that too, at first. The image that opens is actually very wide and scrolls right. The other layouts are there.

bvh is there only as import, this is from the email sent to me
Import Formats
• BVH
With BVH import, you can load in a skeleton plus animation data, and then apply it to your model for instant animation. Huge libraries of BVH content are available on the web, allowing you to make your characters dance, walk, fall down, and any action you can imagine, without setting a single keyframe. |

Yea you can import BVH, MD7? and DX
Export is limited to DX, not sure what version, problem with DX is it triangulates the mesh and I think you can run into problems with bone animations... TS scn is very spotty for conversation... they don't have any good systems to move boned animation around, making TS7.5 nearly a closed system.
Oh well, that's their headache.

I'd like to ask...
This is what 7.5 will bring:
4. Rendering
... Other new V-Ray features will be good animation support, such as high quality motion blur, incremental updates for irradiance/photon maps, GI light maps, multi-pass rendering, depth of field, post processing, chromatic refraction, anisotropic reflections, true displacement mapping and more...
(from 1st post in Captain's Blog)
Not all of the V-Ray features above are written here (http://www.caligari.com/products/trueSpace/ts75/Brochure/specification.asp?Cate=BSpecification).
Why is that? |

@ rjo: thanks for the heads up.
@ RichLevy: MDL7, is the current3d gamestudio format...(for models) it supports vertex animation, wich I use frequently as bones are too slow for me.
@ leif: it ,ay be because the feature list is constantly changing during the dev cycle. |

Maybe in the future Leif, :(
I expect the Motion Blur too, but Dof are a good step :) I like very much the lastest videos with the new materials librarys and the reflection fixed...
Im still concerned about the Vray Animated Textures or the mapped shaders.. that are esentials and i report that from the start of vray1.0
Dont know if are supported or not, but is something totally needed on 2007..
BTW Displacent mapping looks EXCELENT.. |

Hey TomG - fyi, The web page formatting is misleading..
http://www.caligari.com/products/trueSpace/ts75/Brochure/specification.asp?Cate=BSpecification
The left hand side category headers are now out of alignment with the items on the right side of the page.. somebody only updated one of them... |

Ahh, you are a FireFox user like me? I switched the page to IE and the alignment problems go away.

Lots of good things in the feature list for tS7.5/V-Ray1.5. Sounds like a big step forward. Excellent!
One could hope, maybe, that those features mentioned in the early Captain's Blogs, but not listed for 7.5/1.5, will yet show up in an update (7.6?/1.6?), perhaps?
Haven't seen the V-Ray 1.5 email yet.

Looks like the page doesnt work under Firefox, it (Firefox) is not properly using the style margin commands to space out the items in the left hand section of the page. Isn't it wonderful having a standard for how web pages are displayed? (sarcasm off hehe).
Will look into it when time permits, though not sure when that will be since there is so much happening at the moment. Thanks for the heads up about it!

I don't think it matters so much...maybe a disclaimer would be nice, more economic as well. |

aha - I see...
Well - IE is no go for me... Don't see why it shouldn't work properly in both though.. still needs fixing :-) |

Just lazyness really, IE follows the M$ standard and Firefox follows the true WC3 standard. :p
The only time I ever use IE is when I update Winders and even that's grudged.
Don't get me wrong I don't hate M$ I just dislike them intensly :D
This is a tongue in cheek post, though I really do wish webcoders would stop using IE only commands and scripts.
I'll get my coat ;)
Cheers

"though I really do wish webcoders would stop using IE only commands and scripts."
Yes - I run a web development company and have to say that keeping up with the browsers is one huge pain in the butt - but important.. IE7 is much more compliant to W3C than prior versions but they are still awful at implementing proper standards that don't suit them...:p |

Thus labeled the "evil empire" or "M$(Garion, this rocks)". They think they set the standard, but it's closer to monopolizing...old ladys and little girls that enjoy "the pussycat dolls" or AOL are the problem...they cast the most votes with their money and ignorance. |

They are the Matrix. Resistance is futile. -)
