Just a snippet of info on the UI. You may have have already noticed but the icons were completely overhauled for the new workspace UI..they are brighter and much cleaner and stand out against the darker toolbars but they remain very familiar to tS7 users.

Likewise, the tS6 layout and functionality was reinstated which is great for new users to tS7.5 so it will feel very familiar to owners of older version of tS, but the tS7 icons were pretty nice so it was decided to keep them.

So, best of both worlds there; familiar layout and nice new icons. Don't think for one minute that you are getting some 'old' version tagged on-there were some 700-800 icons in there and all have been lovingly redesigned.

I always like to do my bit for new users (new toptoolbar?) and to show just how easy it is to customise the toolbars I made a layout called trueSpace 6.7 (ts 6 to 7 :D ) which will allow cautious new users to experience the workspace (the real tS7) while finding the icons in familiar places. I will tweak it for release of anyone wants it.

And before anyone asks, I renamed the layout tabs on the top to suit my own layouts...you can do the same. You are going to have a ball setting up ts7.5 to suit your own workflow.

For instance, hitting the trueSpace 6.6 tab takes you to the model side of tS with everything looking just like you remember from tS6.6.

Hit the 6.7 tab and you get the same thing (almost) but you are actually in the workspace in wireframe mode. You can easily change to full DX sold render at the click of an icon.

Hit the tS7.5 tab and you are in a full workspace environment with floating windows etc. etc.

Exciting no? But remember these are just my own layouts...yours can be anything you like.

You could assign any particular workflow layout you want such as modelling screens, another for animation, one for materials and rendering. No clicking to open certain windows and resizing elements-you just click the tab at the top.

Do I sound excited about this...:D :D

That looks a really good layout Splinters. I've not played around with the layouts yet in 7.5.

Until I can post the layout, you could recreate it by copying the image. It is simply the 6.6 layout anyway and you could tweak to your heart's content...:D

{RyanT last seen running down the lane past the cows to the local pub's beer garden with laptop and TS manual}:D :D

It's wonderful, about 12c and very sunny. The mountains are slightly hazy though.

Another grab of the UI while I am messing with this. Wireframe and full DX can be mixed here as well as floating windows if you want them.

And full UI with floating player windows, wireframe mode in main window. Note also the little grey bar in the top of the LE and the side of the stack-one click and they collapse freeing up all that lovely workspace...:D

Looking very nice:D

I take it the "widgets" have to be used in workspace then, you cant just use the icons like you can in model??
:)

@Splinters: First and foremost, THANKS!..this is a really usefull, it may not stand out to some, but it is very usefull to the "NEW" user. I think that is probably one of the more considerate contributions made. I even think Caligari should implement the 6.7 layout in the release version. My opinion anyway.
