Just messing with Genhead nice little program that generates a igh quality model from just two photographs. 7 day fully working trial in this months 3D world...gotta get some piccies of the kids for fun here...my mush (mesh?) is too scary for the public.
Little bit of Vray rendering...needs more work but not a bad start...:D |

Of course, why use two photos when you really only need one? Check it out.

The ability to extrapolate a perfect likeness and animate it with little more than a single image further reinforces the fact that you'll be able to trust what you see on your TV less and less and that one day very soon lawyers will call on experts to help determine if video evidence is real or fake.
Of course the software Splinters mentions is available now. I have no idea about the availability of the software in the video I posted the link to. |

Hey that's pretty cool Splinters.
I'm curious though - what are the chances of a wireframe of that handsome head of yours? And a photo for comparison? I really like the idea of being able to put myself into my own renders (as long as it doesn't make me go blind!). |

Hell, I don't trust them now,!
Cool tool, though. 7 days seems like such a short time for a demo, but, ahem, it beats no demo at all. |

Splinters why don't you take the photos that Roman gave us of himself and use it in that program? Make him a nice Avatar.

Here is the wireframe...nice eh? I added a layer if SDS to the 9K poly model so it is pretty fine. There is a much lower poly version there as well. |

I doubt it...just seems to interpolate between common facial points. Still, I guess with the right points you might get interesting results. |

Hey Daddy O nice Raybans!
I tried to buy that magazine here but we seem to be a month behind. I want to do my head bald...:D
Can you rotate it in real time in 7.5? Stomp your foot one time for yes and two times for no.
Also notice the ear is not quite right. |

I thought the Magazine demo had a 7 day time limit for saving heads. The download does not save. |

Runs real nice in 7.5 but because I am using GI in Vray, it looks very dark. Grab to follow once I get this render done...:)
Yeah mag version is a special edition that allows full functionality for 7 days...can't be run after 1st May though so...
Must look at that ear before the demo runs out. |

Lol, that workspace grab makes you look like you've been in the sun too long. :D If you want real comments, then I think you should work on the ears. |

Yeah, ear is a bit dodgy...I will look at that before the license expires. It has been fun messing with the program though.
As for the glossy DX view, you of all people Hemulin should know that Vray and DX materials are very different. You can see how glossy the texture shows up in workspace but it is fine when rendered with Vray. |

Phew! thank god for that, I didn't like to mention it just in case your real ears are like that. Thought you might have been in the front row of the scrum to many times or maybe a bare knuckle fighter ;)
Looks great BTW interesting program.

Here ya go. Vray and LW for comparison. Glasses need work in Vray but skin looks more realistic IMO. |

Splinters, your work on this thread inspired me to give the software a try, I wasn't really pushed to do so. However, I've hit a problem and was wondering if you could see where I'm going wrong?

http://www.iol.ie/~pkb/PaulsHead1.jpg
My texture doesn't seem to fit onto the 3D head!! It looks like I'm melting! LOL! As far as I can tell, I've followed the instructions and placed the dots where need be. I then did some editing once the wizard was finished but when I load the head into TrueSpace and apply the texture, as you can see, it doesn't fit?!?! I've read throught most of the documentation but can't find any explaination of why this is happening of how to fix it.
Did you have this problem and if so, how did you fix it? |

Ok, first things first, get your hair tucked behind your ears...;)
Now, load up a 5k poly version of the Obj file using the luuv plug in. Now, use the tool to break the object up into separate parts and detach the eyes and head. Don't apply any UV to the object!
Navigate to the tiff texture that was created with the program, and the bump map and use the paint over function to get the texture on the head. Now find each of the eye textures and paint each eye with them. This should do it for you.
As you can see from the earlier posts, it took quite a time to get the point in Genhead right and I edited the texture in Photoshop.
Oh, and I applied SDS to the head mesh before rendering...
Did you get the 3D World version? |

Ah, there we go.
http://www.iol.ie/~pkb/PaulsHead3.jpg
Umm... Not bad. It isn't perfect but its not bad. Will take some new photos tomorrow and redo the process, see if I can get better results. My eyes seem a bit glazed over like I'm zoned out or something! LOL!! Also, doesn't seem to like my hair though it's not bad looking. And where's my goatee and sideburns gone! LOL! The geometry on my forehead looks a little off, as does my nose. And as for that egg pointed chin! LOL!!
Thanks, Splinters. Will mess around with this again tomorrow and see if I can improve on it but yeah, I like this. Not sure what I'm going to do with my head now, but I like it. Oh, and yes, I have the 3D World demo so only a few days to play with this. |

Yup, maybe a better texture..
First Roman's Head, then Splinter's Head. Now Paul Head's... We can hang those heads on Trueplace hehehe.. Im thinking on make my own too.. not using that soft, i prefer use the same technic than the roman's avatar. Lets see how many heads we can handle :jumpy:
And make a Head Gallery..:D |

Nice Paul, look at how mine started out then see how far it came in a day or so. Bear in mind also that I have tS7.5 and Vray 1.5 beta's, but with a little work and maybe an IBL you should get much better results. It's all in the lighting... |
