I've just been looking through the TrueSpace 7.5 pages and on the very first one, the Intro page, it talks about TruePlay. It says that with TrueSpace 7.5, we can create our own virtual online worlds, like the Mushroom Village, and host it online for others to enter and explore via TruePlay.
I didn't know about this till just now and I have to say, I'm very excited by it. But I'd like to know more? Like, will it require programming or can it all be set up in TrueSpace 7.5? Once we've created our own worlds, where do we host them? Can I pop the world onto my KnightTrek Productions website or do I have to use the Caligari servers? If the latter, will there be a fee for doing this? And if so, what will it be?
I'd love to know more about side of TrueSpace 7.5. Can anyone shed some light on this please!!! |

No programming needed, with proper permission you just CTRL scene link to shared space and add new space inside current one. That is how we created 3D linkbars in existing truePlace.
You will be able to place your worlds on Caligari servers or buy your own server, called trueServe (available now). Any combination of truePlay and trueSpace7 participants can modify shared spaces (with proper permissions) collaboratively live in real time, whether it is a change of a single object, rule of behavior (Link Editor comes handy in there) or the scene itself.
For now we are concentrating on trueSpace7.5. I am very excited that trueSpace7.5 users will have full back to back production environment: 1. Modeling, 2. Surfacing. 3. Character Design and Posing 4. Animation 5. Rendering. After this whole pipeline works 100% for illustration, Film and Video we will exentd it easily online to busines collaboration, games and 3D social networks. As you see we cover everything:) |

Hi Roman,
Thanks for responding so fast to Paul on these issues, he's definitely not alone on being both excited and curious about where this is all going!
Words simply can't describe how completely excited and thoroughly optimistic I am about the clear direction you have chosen to go with both trueSpace7.5 and truePlaces. This perfect strategy will have very far reaching and excellent effects not only on us TS Modelers but very soon afterward on the whole world. Thank you sincerely for taking us ALL to the next level!
I see the entire internet as being a place currently in desperate need of what this technological leap will now be fully capable of providing to them. The related business opportunities this will open for us as Caligari Modelers are simply unlimited, and in the specific fields of online "business collaboration" and "3d social networks" you refer to above this future you're making possible for us all will be absolutely awesome!!!
You mentioned above in your response to Paul that:
"You will be able to place your worlds on Caligari servers or buy your own server, called trueServe (available now)."
I have the same question Paul had in regard to the use of Caligari Servers for placing our TS7.5 world creations...
"...will there be a fee for doing this? And if so, what will it be?"
Given that the alternative of purchasing a new Server to do this will be cost-prohibitive for most of us, I think this specific question of his is one that we all have very real concerns about in our decision to upgrade to 7.5 at this point.
I am also curious as to whether there is any third alternative to hosting shared spaces of this kind... will it be possible to do to any extent without necessitating the need on the part of new hosts to purchase a new "trueServe" server?
Thanks in advance for clarifying these issues for all of us, we are all very excited about what this may mean to us all!

This is very exciting stuff, indeed. I'll certainly be looking into this side of TrueSpace 7.5 once I get the hang of working with the new interface.
Roman, I think you may have deleted a post here by Tom as I get email replies sent to me and I got one from Tom but I don't see it here. In his reply, he said it would be possible to place a created world online for others to download and then, on their own computer, using TruePlay, they could access the world offline. Of course, there would be no one else in the world, but what I'm looking at here is a new 3D way to promote up coming events on my website. Imagine promoting a game, due for release, by having a 3D environment of the game for users to download and explore at will. Not only would this attract people to my site (:D), but it would promote TruePlay, TrueSpace and Caligari in the process. But since Tom's post has been deleted, I'm wondering if this bit of info was incorrect? Can I get this clarified please? Is this possible?
I appreciate that you are focused on TrueSpace at the moment, but this area, the ability to create 3D worlds for others to explore and intereact with, that's a HUGE feature in my books and one I can't wait to get my hands on! |

Hi Paul,
I deleted the post - Roman wrote his, and I wrote mine, at the same time not knowing the other one was replying already, both saying pretty much the same thing, so I just did some tidying up.
You will be able to send RSSCN files (the tS7 scene format) to a user, say in an email or they can download from your site, and they can open those up in truePlay. This actually works with tS7.11 too, so can be done already even :)
As noted, there is no sharing going on, they will be the only person in that space. Here truePlay acts more as a free scene viewer than as an interactive shared environment, so it can play two roles.
You can run truePlay, click on Local Scenes, then select and RSSCN from your hard drive to load it up.
HTH!

As for making TS7.5 content live, there are several ways of distribution: First as Tom mentioned, you can e-mail TS7.5 scene to anyone and they can view it with free truePlay. You could also post TS7.5 scene on your web site for downloads and anyone with truePlay will be able to walk inside of them localy.
Next, in the future we will provide private user spaces on our servers for a rental fee for live collaboration, we do not have pricing yet but I assure you it will be affordable. Finaly, for commercial use trueServe is available for purchase. It is not free but it is priced less that a rental fee you may pay for island in Second Life. Basicaly, unlike Second Life, trueServe will give you an ownership of your own commecrial space with your own Brand and Identity. |

Aw man, this is fantastic!!! This opens up a whole new world of possibilities to us all. I don't have TrueSpace 7.11, got 6.6 a week or so back in the post, so really looking forward to 7.5 arriving.
I've gone from excited to hyperactive now! LOL! |

Hi Paul,
Sorry if I sort of hijacked your thread before you had a chance to respond to Roman and Tom, like you I'm so genuinely excited about the potential of all this that I can barely contain my enthusiasm at all! :D
It looks like you and I are clearly aware of what this is about to mean to us all as Caligari Modelers, as for me I think of new and better ways to make LOTS of money with this every day, at least 20 times a day!
In the quote above of what you posted you said "Imagine promoting a game, due for release, by having a 3D environment of the game for users to download and explore at will." Now take that excellent idea to the next level for a second...
Imagine promoting your own expertise and services as a Caligari Modeler and Cutting-Edge 3D Designer by creating an absolutely awesome and potentially interactive new "truePlace-type world" (and burning it along with a link to free truePlay on CDRW's which you could give out like candy) specifically designed by you to help a given industry, business, or organization target specific new untapped markets with your sole expertise and truePlay! NOW you know exactly where I'm headed with all this!
Do I want to be an outside salesman of trueserve servers in the process? Oh yeah... you bet I do.;)
Man... stuff just gets better for us every day here, doesn't it!!!

Thanks for the fast and very helpful response Roman,
Your assurance that "it will be affordable" is fine by me, everyone here knows that you are definitely a man of your word. This is truly wonderful!
I hope that your term "for live collaboration" above includes the rental-fee-based hosting of multi-user spaces similar to existing truePlaces (but designed by TS Modelers as opposed to Caligari employees) so that at least we will be able to rent spaces from Caligari to co-host (with your branding) spaces which are intended for simultaneous multi-user truePlay live interaction.
The potential we could all explore with you on these ideas is something that I know we'd all love to hear a few more details about as you get past the TS7.5 rollout, and I truly appreciate that even with all that going on you still managed to make the time here to disclose to us all what you already have above. Thanks.
When the time is right in your eyes I'm sure there are others like me who would like to know what potential commision we might earn from directly selling trueServe Servers along with our related 3D creations to new hosts, but with all you have going on right now I'm content to wait on that for now. ;)
Thanks again Roman,
Becoming a Caligari customer was one of the very best moves I've ever made in life!

Hi mate.
No, no worries. I can see that you're like me, very excited about the prospect of this side of TrueSpace 7.5. I really do feel that this ability, to create 3D worlds for others to explore, even if on their own, is a massive step forward and like you, it's one area I can't wait to sink my teeth into.
I really do like your idea of using this tool to demo your 3D skills, I think that's a superb idea too. My only concern would be just how complex a world can you create before it becomes too restrictive for TruePlay to use? If you wanted to use this tool to demo some complex 3D models, it could be a problem. Also, what's the situation in regard to texturing? If you look at the Mushroom Villiage, every surface is coloured, I don't recall seeing any texturing in the area (I could be wrong). LOL!
But I'm like you. I want to create 3D worlds, put them on my website, add them to my KnightTrek Productions CD ROM, with a link for folks to download TruePlay, so they can explore my worlds. I'm very excited by this. And yet, if you look at the TrueSpace 7.5 pages, unless I missed it, this superb tool only appears at the bottom of the Intro page!! Roman, you need to give a page to this alone, it's a major feature and you should be shouting about it.
Thanks for your input, 3dvisuals dude. I should be very interesting to see what worlds other TrueSpace users create in the future... |

I know this is one area that helped to convince my mate to buy into TS. One of our projects involves this side of TS very much.
Cheers
