Transformers is coming out next year I think. Does look cool, lol. Ah to be a child again...
Ok, I think I've more or less finished the gun. Takes longer to render than the first mech, but I have used a lot of textures. I'll need to design #2 so that he can more or less fall apart. Start off heavy and covered with armour, but as he takes damage he loses it but gets faster. Anyway, Any extra decals to add to this thing? |

It keeps getting better and better ! :)
Decals...you mean warning signs and stuff like that?
A big arrow on the barrel that states "Dangerous end!" ;)
Would depend on your movie... if it's a fastpaced action flick with motion blur, we'll probably never notice any decals.:rolleyes: |

Ok, more help needed, lol. Anyone have any idea where I could put this gun? Seeing as my Mech #2 wont have hands... lol. I'd rather it not be his arms itself as that'll look silly when aiming. I was thinking a shoulder cannon or something... where would be best? |

Why not have it attached to his back (somehow) and when he/she/it wants to use it the gun goes onto their shoulder. A bit like this:
Obviously it's a mech so it'll all be nice and mechanical |

You could just have the gun running on a rail that goes from his back to his shoulder. |

Ok... I think this is the one I'm going to use. I wanted to make it look more humanoid, but ended up with a walker. One Rail-gun in the centre that extends in and out, and 2 rockets on the size (I know, only two, but it does pack a punch. Still not idea able to figure out how to attach it to the mech, but hopefully one of you bright sparks can figure this out, lol. Been racking my brains for an hour, and only came up with replacing it for one of the rockets. I really like the snapping over the shoulder idea, but I can't figure out a connection that would allow it to work.

Couldn't sleep last night so I made this. Only got up 20 mins ago, lol. Both 1'o'clockers, eh? You doing your GCSE's or A-Levels Hemulin? I didn't know school had ended already.
I definately prefer the shoulder Idea, but I couldn't figure out how to get the gun to rotate 360'. Now, it can nearly achieve that, and it doesn't look bad either. What do you all think of the animation? I'll start on the city/desert scene now, then I'll get down to animating.

I didn't know school had ended already.
Aaah, well officially school finishes today, however I haven't been in for just under a week...

Ahh, you will my friend... you will. The rocket and gun can both be aimed in different directions. How else do you expect him to take on around 20 of these things as they jump over sand dunes? ;)
I'll make a start on the city. |

I really like the handheld camera feeling you used in your animation ! :D
And I like this bot better than the humanoid :banana:
In mechwarrior I usually choosed walkers...they look cooler, and I never understood why a battlemech would have a humanoid form....tanks don't look like humans ;) |

When is it a good idea to give the good guy the advantage? ;)
Anyone got an idea of what music I should use? I was thinking "Pain" by 'Jimmy Eat World', but if anyone has a better idea let me know, and I'll start making requests.

City is really bad compared to the Mechs, but I really need it to be very low poly. Here's the top-view.
The other is a simple 3D test. The car is only there to help with scale. |

White line is very distracting as it is almost as big as the car!
Also the tunnel doesn't seem to lead anywhere underground and there is nothing above it to warrant a tunnel.
Good start though...:) |

I used a negative light to try to fade out the tunnel, but it was too strong, so the buildings in the back ground are black now. I wouldn't have noticed the white line... perhaps I'll make it 4 lanes wide :) The Mechs are going to take up the entire street... so they'll have to clear away some fighting space :D |

I decided that I'm going to try something different out. It's the summer holidays for me, so I've decided to make this my official summer project. The image below is the chair of some interior shots of the Good Mech. Now, here's the twist. Like that movie "Titan Quest" (or something similar) or the animatrix, I'm going to try and incorporate cartoon characters into the 3D background. Seeing as I like anime so much I'll have a go at that. Hopefully I can make it work, but if not... ah well. All I can do is my best. I can fill this scene with laods of gadgets and blinking lights, and seeing as it's seperate from the other scenes I can go a bit more wild with the polygons. Anyway, how does the chair look? Arm-rests?
