II thought I'll drop in this displacement sample done today with 7.5 .
Outstanding. I've been waiting years to be able to do this inside tS.

Some keyboard shortcuts don't like sharing. Here is what I do to avoid that - I make both workspace and model have the same shortcuts, but I change one side to have "alt" pressed and one side not.

For instance if you try and map the views (forward, backward etc) to the same keys (I use 1, 2, 3 etc) on both sides, it doesnt work. Same with things like swap from World, Object and Screen mode etc.

So adding an ALT for one side is the solution I prefer (otherwise, it is necessary to use completely different keys).

I usually put the ALT on the model side, as I use the workspace more, and the model rarely, so it keeps the extra key press to a minimum :)

EDIT in case I misunderstood the question, just wanted to add, there is no way to automatically copy assignments from one side to the other. You need to manually set up the keys in each.

No animated shaders directly supported. Procedural / Scripted versions can be written, as noted below.

Tom

how about mapping an avi to a surface? is that what you mean by animated texture? or do you mean the keyframed type on the ts 6.6 material editor?

Neither are currently possible in V-Ray (ie not movies, or image sequences).

It is possible to script image sequences, as noted in the earlier thread. Not sure it is possible to script AVIs, somehow I doubt that would be possible at all.

So there is some measure of a solution, with the scripting :)

Is shader layering supported by Vray? Havn't gotten email yet and probably won't until tomarrow was hoping since I get the update for free because of being an early adopter of ts7.0. oh well can at least this be answered by those who have it?

should really mess with on weekend(Friday afternoon) because school semester is coming close to an end

Vray...Motion blur??? or incremental render motion blur???

@Tom: mapped shaders, thanks for opening up THAT door...woo whooo.

@Rich: like silo 2(more like)... I don't suppose there is 1)symetry, or2) symetry with deformation painting, or 3)Topology brush???

Has there yet been a definitive answer to the question of what exactly are the new features in Vray 1.5? I've bought it anyway, but would like to know exactly what it is that I've got. :)

3 new mapped reflectance shaders, some bug fixes, and DOF. Plus lightmap calculation method for secondary bounces. Looks like better HDRI support as well.

3rd one is the "Wrapped Mirror Map". I'm still not sure what it does. In the one test I did before release, it made a nice shiny car paint kinda finish... ;)

Maybe it's like an environment map shader and fakes the reflections with the provided map?
