Hi all, I got my tS7.5 copy late last night, and I've had time to take a few looks around, but I've still got some questions that the manual doesn't seem to include answers to. Here they are:

* How do you start a new scene within the workspace? (not in model view)

* How do you export scenes/objects within the workspace? (also not in model view)

* Where do I go to set it up for dual monitors?

* Where can I find some free tS7.5 tutorials? (not in the manual, and aimed at animation)

thanX!

John

* From the icon on the bottom toolbar Generate new Space.
* From the Library in the Stack. Right click item and select Export.

Hey John

Read about the new Stack and Library system, there is a huge amount of power in there. You will fumble around for a bit and some things are harder to understand, but there is a HUGE amount of power in there, and really does not require a large amount of effort to take advantage of it.

Nothing special is required for dual monitors - simply open a new window, drag it onto the second monitor, presto!

Or click and drag any part of a current layout to detach it from its locked position (eg the stack, the animation editor, etc) and again just drag it onto the second monitor.

You can't export from workspace in the same way as modeler (ie no File menu). As noted, just save it to a library and then Export.

Don't miss the click and drag functionality for that! CTRL and click an object in the workspace 3D view, or in the library, or in the LE, then drag it wherever you like - not just wherever you like in tS, but wherever you like at all. Drop it onto your desktop, into a folder on your computer, into an email, release the mouse and click once after releasing, and your object (or scene, or hairstyle, or material, or layout) is dropped right there!

You can convert to other formats (eg the older COB and SCN) by the drag and drop, but its a great way to share objects, scenes, layouts etc!

Tutorials are only in the manual, there are quite a few good ones there, including how to make physics work with animation, basic intro to setting keyframes, etc. The manual ones are definitely tutorials and not just the tech spec kind of write up, so there are how tos and step by steps in there.

Video tutorials will be added to the manual as the manual gets updates. The videos will follow what is shown in the manual (ie currently it contains the text and image version of the same tutorials that will be shown in video) - or at least that's how I plan it for animation and character editing chapters (since I was working on those) ;) )

Wow! I didn't expect to get these many responses this quickly! ThanX! I'm starting to get a better hang of it, but I do have another question:

How do you add a custom layout to the bar that contains these options:

* 4View

* Default

* Floating

* trueSpace6
