I really like the program design, and I really would like to see it completely polished and streamlined.

I know you and team Caligari have had (and have?) much todo about the development.

Do not let our "bug reports" put you down, they are not meant as bad critisism. Sometimes I have felt bad to write on forum about bug findings.

I have submitted a couple of them, and will in the future if I find more, but:

I want to just say, thank you.

Sincerely,

Leif

Yes the temper of the forums seems to have shifted a bit from elation to frustration! As someone who hasn't gotten 7.5 yet (having to get it sent on disk) I've been fascinated by all the 7.5 related threads full of ideas and useful info plus complaints and frustrations. I think it is probably all par for the course at this stage. Truespace is undergoing a complete change and ver7 is the transition phase. I think Caligari is managing a difficult task well and the direction tS is headed is the right way to go. You can't afford to stagnate in the 3d business. Credit to Roman and the Caligari team - trouble is one step always requires a follow up and a review and there always plenty of people ready to point out the shortcomings (even if the complainers are wrong;) ). So I'd like to join Leif and say good on you & express my goodwill to future tS development.

I have to agree whole heartedly, that although I might find the occasional inconsistency in Truespace7.5, it is clear that the foundation you layed with Truespace7 is absolutely a step in the right direction. Alot to process, but alot of promise.

tS7.5 is a great program but not without its flaws. I am pretty sure that they will be addressed very soon. There is absolutley no way a team of beta testers, no matter how committed and talented can uncover each and every 'real world' bug. Remember that all Beta software comes with the caveat that you should not risk using if for commercial work as it may have bugs. With the user reports here I am sure that Caligari have a real shot at fixing them and making tS the amazing and groundbreaking program it so very nearly is...:D

I think Romans been in the business long enough to know this is part of the process. We the users are going to follow a path the Beta testers never thought of. There are a lot of hidden bugs found that way. TS has come a long way and the horizon looks rather nice.

As long as users complain there is no reason to fear anything. It gets dangerous when users stop to complaining ;)

Having been the complainer of a couple items already - and having also been one who was addessed almost immediately by Roman with a pledge to have the developers look into it - I also have to say that I am still wowed by the software and am very excited about where it is and where it is going.

So here's my appreciation as well. Good job Caligari, developer, beta-testers, costomer service, users, everyone.

Thank you,

Ed

I've been spending quite a bit of time with 7.5 and I must say it is a definite move in the right direction. Thanks to all for a great product.

Now if you could only include an "Enhace Poor Artwork" function in 7.6.........;)

Truespace 7.5 has definitely surpassed my expectations so far. It's been a long time since I've used any graphics application and felt like I was genuinely experiencing something new.

It also looks beautiful, and I don't think this should be underrated. To be honest, I don't really see how people have had the time to nitpick the interface (I personally think it's great) when there's so many cool things to try.

I don't really have anything to add bugs wise as the issues I've had have been covered already.

Perhaps one piece of advice I could give would be to give some warning that there's no nostalgic way to save and exit in workspace. That one nearly had me reaching for the vicodin. Maybe the cover of the manual should have big black letters saying "There's no save menu - don't panic, all is well" or something.

I really wish I could see this program through fresh eyes as it is so hard to understand those 'problems' that I know to be workflow or settings problems.

Hopefully I will soon be able to post here as a regular user and not a Beta member but in the meantime I will continue to share any knowledge I have from the Beta process...:)

I was suprised with the level of customer involvement right from the off! I posted in another thread that I had accidentally crashed TS twice when I missed and connected two edges to the same point. Within hours I had an e-mail from tomasb asking for more details and everything in order to fix it. Now THAT'S customer service.

Thanks guys for your continuing comments, both praising and critical. We are gathering all bug reports, fixing them as we go and should have a service pack out within 2 weeks. It will also include new additions and updates to the manual.

Roman,

I am not going to ask for a refund...period! (I'm a happy user)

BUT there are a few users that are frustrated about lack of accurate documentation and some bugs that are making them second guess their decision about the purchase.

You might consider extending the return policy (In just this release) for two more weeks so that they can use the software with the additions and new docs.

1) You would benefit by having a new happy user.

2) A refund means you lost that customer for life and thats ashame.

3) Money!

p.s.

go with door number three....:)

I, too, would like to extend my thanks and appreciation to you for all of your work on this release, and to just how much your vision of 3D graphics has influenced the 3D software industry since the mid 1980's. Thank you.

trueSpace 7.5 was worth the wait! What I'm most excited about now is that you've mentioned your commitment to making v7.6 (or whatever it will be called;) include updated import and export formats. I'd just like to request 3: COLLADA, .fbx, and an updated .obj import/export module. I realize that .fbx and .obj can be included within the COLLADA format, but it would be nice to have them available seperately for programs that don't yet support COLLADA.

BTW, I love the UI changes that you've made from version 7!

I agree with Steinie about extending the return policy. I think you should allow at least a couple of weeks after the update so we can try the new documentation and improvements. I guess another way is to get a refund now and wait for the new demo, but this will mean loosing out on the special pre-release price ?
