Hi all,
Thought this could be fun for all you animators and movie makers out there. Nintendo are running a contest where you make a Nintendo themed move (can be film, video, CG, whatever).
Now you have justifiable reason to go making models of Mario, Bowser, Pokemon or whatever, and not have to worry about the big N and their copyright enforcement ;)
Anyway, could be a lot of fun, figured especially with the new tools in 7.5, though of course you could do this in any version of tS, even the free tS3.2.
Contest rules do seem to say you need to be over 18 to enter, but I didnt read them in detail so do check into that. Besides, it would be entertaining to see a collection of Nintendo themed animations, I'd be interested to see what everyone comes up with!
PS - Nintendo do note that you must not use any copyrighted material (images, characters, trademarks etc) that are NOT Nintendo's. So no coke cans or battles with Master Chief.

Have fun!

Turbo squid has some Mario objects... Probably other ones as well.

You animators could rig them with skeletons and animate. |

Would be a lot of fun if people did some entries for this, I think :) Of course finding time is always an issue, but even one or two animations would be fun to see.
Thanks!

I wrote the info on this contest to find out if there were plans for any more competitions since time is such an issue on this one, and got an almost immediate response! See below.
Hi Ed,
Thank you for your interest in our film contest! This is our only film contest at this time, however we have several in the works and are always thinking of new ones. If you cannot participate this time around please check back often to learn about any upcoming promotions.
If you have any other questions please let us know. Thanks again.
So there might be chances to enter in the future if you can't get in on this one.

That's a funny one. Isn't it forbidden to model copyrighted stuff ? :D |

That really annoys me at times too and not only with competitions but also with some mail order companies. There's nothing more annoying then trailing the net for hours looking for something you want and all you can find are companies who'll only ship to the USA.
Solution?
Check Ebay! LOL!!
But yeah, it doesn't help with the competition front. |

To Tiles, that's what makes this contest interesting. Normally you cannot use copyrighted items, and the big N is pretty strict about their copyright stuff too.
However within the terms of this contest, you get to use Nintendo's copyrighted items without fear of prosecution or trouble, which is pretty neat :)
As the contest rules note you can't use anyone else's copyright or trademark items though!
HTH!

That's what i meant. The big N is really hard when it comes to copyrights. I know of fangames that had mayor trouble with that. And so i was curious about reshaping their stuff. Even when it is just for a contest. Made me giggle :) |
