I think the new hair tools in Truespace are very good but one thing lets it down. The two color gradient for the material.

Has anyone found a way to get a better material on the hair? Or failing that some good info on the LE so I can start digging in myself. Its such a shame to have neat hair but materials that let it down.

Having fun otherwise.

Cheers

Material other than the default gradient can be applied to the hair. It can even be alpha mapped. The trees in the Plant library are 'hair'.

By default the hair uses 32 segments (repeats) of the two-color hair gradient. Go to the advanced panel for the hair and set the number of segments to 1 (at least it's easier for me to see what I'm doing when I set it to 1). Then use the eyedropper tool on the hair to enter the material editor.

I've used the Re-Paint icon from the ME to apply different materials to hair so that it doesn't change the material of the base object the hair is applied to.
