Hiya.
Just wondering if anyone has heard when a tS 7.5 demo will be available for DL from caligari.com. I'd love to play around with it and see how far it's come along! :) |

It's a user decision with no professional backing, but I believe that is a very wise choice...more coverage and penetration. |

Hiya.
Well, it's almost Wednesday here, and I don't see a tS 7.5 demo download link anywhere. :(
Any new ETA there Roman? |

Sounds like things are more busy at the caligari office then at pre-release time...bugs(not so many), features, formats, 7.51, manual update, and a demo...I am sorry caligari team and a simultaneous thank you. |

This one is an "as soon as possible" :) Everything is in progress and being assembled, and as soon as that is all finished and all the i's are dotted and t's crossed, it will be live - that might be 5 hours, or it might be 15, can never tell how things will go as you work through all the required details! All we can say is it will be the least number of hours we can possibly make it ;)
So keep watching the site, and your email of course, as we will email everyone who is not a tS7.5 owner and let you know when the demo is out there and ready for downloading!
HTH!

Any chance of a post here as well as emails Tom?
I would like to point my students in the direction of the demo and they are unlikely to be on your mail list...:D
Also, I wouldn't mind checking it over myself...;) |

Holy cow! Finally, a demo! :)
I've been keeping an eye out throughout the whole 7.5 progress.
You're not messing with us, are you Tom/Roman????

Wouldn't it be a better idea to wait with the demo until when at least the most common bugs are fixed with the first patch? The demo is what people convinces to buy a product. And when this demo is buggy, well ... ;) |

Very good news. Will the renders it creates have the Caligari logo watermark? Strangely I sorta miss those! |

Demo will have a banner on the website, main banner for such a big announcement, so yes, there will be website notification as well as email notification. We'll be sure to drop into the forums and post when it goes live too for everyone who lives in here and never ventures out to the outside world of other webpages ;)
The renders will be watermarked, not had a look to see what the watermark is, but hopefully it will bring back that comfie sense of nostalgia you are looking for wigmo :)
Not messing with you Keith, it's all in progress to get it out the door, and has been in progress for the last few days in fact, and of course has been planned for the last 6 months or more :)
More news as soon as we can, of course!
Thanks!

Hi Splinters.
Just wondering what it is you teach, and where, if you don't mind me asking? |

That was faster than I had expected. Good job team. I wont use it, but now I can send people to the link. Hopefully getting more saturation. Better for everyone. Now...what will be the next BIG question on the forum??? My bet is either manual update or 7.5x...any wagers(this question doesn't count)??? |

I downloaded a copy of the demo, it took me 15 minutes just to find the render button, but what I did manage to use was AMAZING! I'm definately gonna get it once I can get the moolah even if only for the player view and softselect tools. |

"Thank you for your interest in trueSpace7.5. We are pleased to offer a trial version of trueSpace7.5, including a V-Ray1.5 trial and video based tour guide. "
Quoted from the demo reg/download page.
Has the 7.5 user manual been updated or is the "video tour guide" a proprietary guide for the demo alone. |

User manual update is a separate issue, and is a much bigger item. These are 13 videos just 1 minute long each, not intended to show you all the details of using a tool like the manual, just to give you some quick "aha!" in the first 10 minutes as a demo user just to see a tool in action, eg softpaint, or clicking and dragging on an IK handle to make a rigged character move. There's nothing there that isn't covered in the existing manual already, and the manual goes into much more detail.
The idea though is that people who first open the software will get some ideas for what tools to play with and see just what is meant by an IK Handle, what softpaint is, how the real-time shadows look, etc.
So that means the the manual update still in progress, more news on that as soon as we have it.
As for the quick guide and its videos, there are thoughts that it might be good on a web page, so we'll be looking into that. As a manual owner and someone who has tS7.5 for more than a day or two, you aren't missing out as you'll already know wayyyy more than seen in that quick guide :)
Thanks!

Over next week or so www.caligari.com (http://www.caligari.com) has a main banner with link to the registration scenario for the download of ts7.5 trial.
http://cart1.caligari.com/ts5demo/form_downloadts7.asp?adsource=&v=TS75 is the link to the registration page.
Hope this is helpful :) |

Thanks. Appreciate that, Tom. Interesting read and the actual physical models of the 3D models are quite cool. |

Most (if not all) of those are actually full size prototypes Paul, we rarely make physical models relying on trueSpace for our modelling.
Good bunch of kids I have had the pleaseure to teach...:D |
