Hiya.

tS7.5/Vray install and run fine on my Windows 2000 side. Said programs also install (seemingly) fine on Windows XP Professional 64-bit...BUT...tS 7.5 just hangs/crashes when trying to start up. I don't even see the interface; just the tS7.5 start up graphic.

So, is this a DEMO bug, or a tS 7.5 bug? Because the specifications page on tS7.5 here on the Caligari site says it needs "Windows Vista, XP or XP Pro." Well, I have XP Pro...and it's not working.

Oh, computer stats:

Windows XP Pro 64-bit

MSI MASTER FAR-2 motherboard

2x AMD Opteron 246's

2GB DDR333 ECC RAM

BFG Tech GeForce 7800 GS OC (256MB DDR3)

Creative Audigy ZS 2

There's still some issues with the 64-bit flavors of Windows. It works fine for some and not so fine for others.

I'm running 7.5 on Vista x64 with some minor glitches.

Have you tried contacting tech support?

Hiya.

I haven't contacted tech support yet. It is a demo, after all...I'm not sure what they had to do to 'fix it' so there is no saving, exporting, etc....that could very well be the problem. Who knows?

Ahhh well, first things first; see if I want to save to upgrade to tS 7.5. I can do that by using the demo on the Win2k side of things. If it looks like I'm getting the hang of it and likeing what I see, then I'll do some more experimenting on the XP-64 side of the fence. :)

Check what version of video drivers you have - the tS7.5 readme (I don't have the demo so no idea if it says the same) mentions NVidia drivers 84.21 or newer must be installed.

I would also contact tech support as there is a config file that should be edited on 64-bit systems to disable OpenGL rendering in Model view - this will cause hangs at the spash screen like you describe. I've searched for the info on what to edit and how, but not been able to locate it - sorry. Tech Support should identify it for you in a flash.
