The image below is using regular VRay (no GI) in tS 7.5. No matter what anti-alias settings I use, 4x or adaptive, I get these very noticeable black lines that are not smooth on the bump map of the image. The lines are on the beige ground plane of the attached image. Anyone have any suggestions on removing them in tS:confused:

Just in case it's not about Vray...

You can try setting your graphics card TS7.11/7.5 Profile to 'Application Controlled' to be sure that your Profile is not in conflict with TS's FSAA, that would be the first and quick thing to try. Perhaps your global Profile has settings (FSAA/AF) that are causing the artifacts. Graphics panel's settings are for use when an application does not natively do stuff like FSAA, anisotropic filtering and other rendering 'tweaks'

If it's the desert they could be meteorites mind. As a workaround :)

You're using a bump map? Did you try to start the bump map's amplitude at a smaller value?

Larger values tend to come out a bit exaggerated.

Photoshop to the rescue! Thanks for the responses though.

Even a plane has two sides and I think this is a case of the back face showing through. I found that removing the back face(s) of the plane removed the problem.
