Taking that logic it should have been last Monday then seeing as his post was made in the preceding week. ;). hehe It will come when it comes.

Yep, and I'm fine with that. I imagine they are doing more than originally planned. |

I was away all Saturday - I thought maybe, just maybe.....but I think Hans had the best 'handle' on the situation :) ( I'm actually writing this to 'keep it alive' so that someone might see and take pity and give us some more info?....)

It's alive - (this thread is still) alive! Is there any News that a kind-hearted soul from Caligari would/could share with us today?

Nothing much more to share, but I'll pass on what we have.
I can't give you a date, and won't be able to until it is ready to download really. The reason there is the nature of the dev cycle at this state. Effectively wee are making a version which we believe is ready to go, testing it hard, and if we find something that still isn't 100%, that gets fixed and the cycle begins again.
So we are not in a position of "it will be three more days until such-and-such is done then its ready" - its just work each and every day, making changes, testing changes, making changes; developers and beta testers have been working overtime on the changes and the tests!
As soon as we hit the magic moment of passing the required tests, then it will be ready, and we can announce it, and very soon after that you'll be downloading it!
Anyway, the nature of that cycle is why we can't give you a date, and why you'll only really find out the date after its ready for release, because any day might be that day.
The manual keeps growing daily too - as new things come in, and other things change, the manual is updated to reflect it. Not a day has gone by without me updating the animation chapter for instance, from new write ups, to new videos (just finished one not long before posting, in fact).
So it remains "as soon as possible" and in a very literal sense. As soon as we have news for you, we'll get it posted!
Thanks!

Thanks for the update Tom. No news on a date but at least news on there being no date...
Having some glitches with tS7.5 and reluctant to dive further into projects until they are solved...that is my only reason for asking...:o |

Thank You, Tom. I have to let you know, for me at least, this type of keeping me/us 'up to date' with regards to status, is perfect! I actually feel a little guilty in asking because I know you all are working very hard on this, Thanks for taking the time to keep us informed :)

Logically the longer we wait the more that will be fixed for no charge. After that I bet the upgrades will cost us so take your time! |

As it should be! :-)
That's a very refreshing corporate attitude compared to some software companies 'Good enough-release it!' line of thinking.
We can wait, just do it right! ;) |

Wow. An update and a new manual. Great. I just used a ream of paper and two ink tanks to print out the manual and now there's
a new one coming. :(

So, when the Caligari folks said there would be no printed manual for Truespace7.5, I'm guessing it might have had more to do with the 'process' you're describing to us now than with progressive views about the death of paper.
Got a new feature? Great, write a new chapter. Oh wait, another feature is broken? Take that chapter out.
My TS7.5 manual shows features that aren't even in the program. Simply put, it's not fit for print. |

There was a mention somewhere very soon after 7.5 was released (within the first 2-3 days) that there was to be an update quite soon after the release and the manual would be getting overhauled with it. |

trueSpace is turning into an exponentially greater program with each release. I think 7.51 will take an equally as significant leap forward from 7.5 as 7.5 did from 7.11.
tS 7.5 is far more workable [for myself] than 7.11 ever was, and I think this is a much more appropriate time to be addressing the manual [with 7.51] than it would have been with the less-than-final interface of 7.11...even 7.5 could use a little more finalization - hopefully it's in 7.51!
 It's all turning into time very well spent!
Also try to get those "and the and the" kind of double-typing out of the manual. Nothing makes a more retainable read than a clean read - even though I "follow it", I would "follow it better" if there were no distractions to shift my "focus" onto the grammatical structure of the text (for those of us who can't help but allow ourselves to focus on those types of things in everyday life) rather than the content. ¡Muchas grácias! :) |

I am just expecting 7.51 to be bug fixes with 'maybe' a few new requested UI/Workflow features and I do mean a few.
If you expect it to be a similar leap as 7.5 was from 7.1 then I think you will be very disappointed...16 months went into that upgrade and it has been only a month or so since 7.5 was released. But this is only speculation; I have no idea what is in it.
I would just be happy if the major bugs are fixed.
I guess 7.6 will be the next noticable upgrade in terms of features. |

Oh, I agree that it will only be bug fixes, an extra feature or two, refinements (paint response, interface, control behavior, etc., hopefully - but if not, oh well) and a more complete manual.
Also I don't think I'll be dissappointed. It is with these expectations (as small as they are) that I expect to be as pleased with 7.51 as I was with 7.5. I see a well-produced and complete manual - quite a big deal - coupled with the additional functionality, whatever it is, as a pretty significant step.
Besides they've been addressing things on the spot as we've been working with 7.5 all along. I'm gratefull that they've stuck with trueSpace rather than jump from subproduct to subproduct - this isn't the best time to be addressing complimenatary products just yet.
Perhaps I exaggerate in the 7.51/7.5/7.11 comparison...but only ever so slightly. I doubt I'll be dissappointed - I expect nothing, but I'm sure to get something, and there's no way to be dissappointed from that. I'm already pleased with the progress of 7.5 ;)
I do get what you're saying, though. |

Woah that was fast :) Must be sitting there clicking refresh ;)
Anyway, we are doing something of an experiment here, to see how it goes.
tS7.51 has passed the tests, and is being compiled and put on the server as we speak. Rather than wait the extra hour or so while all that gets done, we have posted the page now, so you can see what is coming with it.
note the download is not there yet - we will update the page as soon as it is ready. So if you download the install now, you will get tS7.5 and not tS7.51!
We hope this will work and everyone will be patient and no confusion will arise. We did want to share some of the videos, and the feature list, so here it is....

Two other quick notes - the bug fixes are not listed on that page, which focuses on the new items and features that made it in, since people will know nothing of those. More info on that will be forthcoming after release most likely, naturally there are a lot of those fixes, since this is a bug fix patch really despite all this new stuff ;)
Next, all tS7.5 owners will also receive an email of course to tell them about the update and how to install etc. So you dont have to watch the page to know when its out, we will be mailing you too :)
HTH!

Right Tom. I have had enough. What the heck does HTH mean at the bottom of your posts. :D Most of what goes through my mind would probably be censored by this forum. :) 'Totally Hairy tripe@. Nope cant be. 'Tom has tears'. Nah wont be that either. :D
Looking forward to seeing this version.

Internet / forum slang - it stands for "Hope this helps"
Along with AFAIK (as far as I know), IMHO (in my humble opinion), IMNSHO (in my not so humble opinion), and other more well known ones like LOL, ROFL, etc.
Sorry if it was confusing anyone :)
Hope this helps!
