It's on the home page! Wow, I wasn't expecting that so soon. Will installation be a patch over 7.5 or a fresh install? And looking forward to the boxed version shipping so I can get my hands on the manual. I find it a lot easier to read a physical manual then one on the screen. But great news!! Looking forward to getting my hands on it :). |

Hi Paul,
It will be a full install, rather than a patch. You can choose to install over your tS7.5 if you like though, or you can install to a new folder.
On the manual, please note it is still only an electronic manual. This is because it features videos and similar, and those don't work too well in a printed manual :) The printed manual remains tS7.0 only, and is frankly unlikely to be updated. The speed of updates and changes to the software now would see us going broke if we had to reprint the manual every time, the world of print isn't designed to keep up with this sort of changing and upgrading at the speeds that are now possible in the electronic world.
Sorry for that little disappointment, hope it doesn't dampen your enthusiasm as regards the release!

If I install over my previous 7.5 installation, will it erase all of my .scn and .cob files located in the library? (both the workspace library as well as the model library) |

I think anything saved in the "base" libraries will likely be overwritten.
What I do is create a projects directory elsewhere on the harddrive so that when I install new versions I can install fresh and just add my existing projects as a new library place. Makes migrating between new versions very quick and the old version can be uninstalled without losing any data.

I installed 7.51 over 7.5 and my Scenes I saved in "Base" are gone.Ouch that hurts:( I noted that Beta testers did not report any problem installing to TS7.5 folder, maybe we did not test enough.
If it helps this is what I read in e-mail download instructions, it seems to imply that no artwork should be lost:
You may choose to install the program to the same directory as trueSpace7.5 - in this case, any files that were part of the previous installation will be over-written, even if you have modified them. Any new files that you saved to an existing trueSpace7.5 library will be preserved however. It may still be best to back up those files before installation. Alternatively you may choose to install trueSpace7.51 to a new directory.
It may be better guys to wait for e-mail with download instructions. |

OK I lucked out! I thought I had 7.5 installed on the C: drive but in fact it was installed on my D: drive. The directory it created was named 7.5 and not 7.51 so I didn't catch the duplicates. So I ended up having two installs one 7.5 (with my scenes) and 7.51. I'm backing up now... |

Don't know what you did but thank you very much. vray shaders now work fast in 7.51. The old waiting for 20 odd seconds for the thumb to update is gone.
:D

Well, I'm disappointed :(
I complained about the skeleton and locks rendering even when I've got show skeleton unchecked. I was told that yes, this was a glitch, and then that it was fixed. Here's a quickie animation I did, with show skeleton unchecked...I see no difference from what I had before!
Guess I'll just look at it as the fact that I paid $450 for TS 6.6 and just get along with that! |

Just guessing here... Have you tried rebuilding the skeleton? I'm not sure if that will solve the issue but it's worth a shot to see if the problem is with the current patch or with something established in the scene by the last version.
If you post the scene maybe some of us may be able to help figure out or confirm what's going on. Still downloading the patch as I type...

I'm pretty sure it's Aussie slang for "gossip."
They do have better words for things than us Yanks do, also a much better female to male population ratio than in the U.S., or at least that's the goss.;)

locks & skeleton rendering was fixed for 7.51 for lightworks. what you need is to turn it off (pass through->hide for all in character editor panel) and rig will be hidden in real time view and also in modeler. |

It says it installs TS 7.51. And it opens then with TS 7.51. The exe has the version number 7.502 though :D
Installing above the 7.5 installation is not recommended it seems. Now i have two start menu entries and two desktop shortcuts :p
Lots seems to be fixed. A big thanks at this point for giving us back the file menu in the workspace :)
Still stumbled across the first still unfixed bugs though ... |

Against my better judgment I almost bought tS7.5. However, last month when I went to purchase it there was a message they were not accepting any purchases with credit cards that expired in three months. I have four credit cards all expire in the summer months. I really didn't feel like calling up my banks and telling them if they would please change the dates on my cards so I can make an online purchase.
mmm kay.
I have since then purchased other software which I find quite delightful and no bugs.
Sorry Caligari, you had one last chance and you blew it. |
