Mmm, okay...was that because it was a preorder and your card may have expired at the time they were likely to charge it.
Also, if I wanted the new features of a piece of software I would not be limited by the limitations set by my bank.
Caligari are pretty easy going and helpful and I find it hard to believe that they could not help you in this matter...but did you even ask?
Sounds like you had reasons for going elsewhere and that is absolutely fine. No one asks for you full commital and many of us use various programs.
I don't declare my allegiance to any one...I just use trueSpace more than any other.
Likewise, I don't go to the Bryce site (for example) stating that they had a chance to get my business but blew it.
I am glad that you are sorted, I really am, but I just do not see the point in stating it the way you do as if no one here wanted to sell you tS.
Good luck in whatever you do...maybe we will see you around here in the future. |

His issues in the past almost destroyed this Forum. Splinters you either have a short memory or more tolerant then me. I'm glad that he is finally happy because he never was here. |

Not sure the nature of the message. My ignore list is still working. From messages that followed it sounds like that choice is still valid.
I'm glad to hear the skeleton hiding feedback by tomasb. Forcemaster, I would be interested in hearing if that solved your issue or not. Hopefully so!
Just got the 7.51 patch installed and am looking forward to starting some projects "officially" (been doing beta team testing) like a gecko character. This one won't be like the Geico gecko though. It'll be more of a non-humanified gecko. (edit: non-anthropized??? not sure the real word I'm looking for here...) Intent is to set up a poseable character with realistic reptile behavior. i.e. I may feed it one of the bugs from the latest speed modelling challenge... 'cept for SteveBe's hairy spider-thing. I think the food chain would work in the other direction in that case. :D

Probably a bit of both, then again, maybe I am just a nice guy...
After all, I simply said I was glad he was sorted and wished him well...pretty much what I do with my students when they leave...even the ones I really dislike...just a little courtesy and humility.
Remember, it's nice to be nice.
A thought..If you heard tomorrow that JamesMc had died (sorry-just being hypothethical)would you really want your last words to him here to be nasty, spiteful or just plain negative??
He's happy, he's gone so no real need to drag up the past.
Let's get back to rejoicing at 7.51 release (religious irony!) |

I'm surprised that no one from Team Caligari responded to this (unless it was a private message, or email)
Believe it or not, but I was completely unaware that this was happening. Until now, I looked up at jamesmc as one of the forum's "leaders." Now though, it's become apparent that I was clearly mistaken.:(
I am confused about something else, though: Is he banned yet? His account still shows him as a "senior member." |

I’ve surprised myself. I downloaded and installed 7.51 late last night, and I have not yet touched it. I need to go to work in just a little bit, and I have not touched it this morning. Once I get off work, I have a different project to get to, so may not actually touch it until Friday or Saturday. Very unlike me. Normally, I get a new software and play with it until 5am. I still need to see which of my personal files went missing so I can put them back from my backup. |

Yeah, great to know that all my animations, maded in ts7.5 doesn't work under 7.51. And, yes, I did understand that AFTER installing over my 7.5.

2much4u, don't worry about it. If you want to relive the past just lookup his history of post. He was NOT banned nor should he be. He just had opinions that rubbed people the wrong way. It's over lets move on. |

Hi Paul,
It will be a full install, rather than a patch. You can choose to install over your tS7.5 if you like though, or you can install to a new folder.
Tom
Don't know if anyone has had this problem yet (Haven't read all the forums yet - Shame on me), but when I installed over 7.5, I got an error. Even after restart. So I did an uninstal, then reintalled and everything so far seems to be working fine.

It's like getting a new car and having to head back to the dealership because the electronics are on the fritz and nobody knows why.
I'm not sure the tS7.51 release is ready for duplication just yet, as a download it's ok, but IMHO there are still a few issues that need to be fixed before launching the CD presses. At least if I get asked again to postpone my hard-copy, I will agree to wait.
I was able to load my spaceship model into tS6.6 (.cob) without any problems and applied the UV-mapped texture with a few clicks and everything was peachy. What is the reason this isn't working in tS7.51? With all the formats that appear to be supported in tS7.x I'm still wondering why someone thought it would be a good idea to just drop the COB format?
For crying out loud, the "Deluxe Paint" (.lbm) format is still supported in tS7.51? If memory serves, the last time I used "Deluxe Paint" was in the 1980's.
My question is, what did COB do to you? :D
Even Microsoft made the Office 2007 format compatible with the Office 2003 (.doc) by issuing a conversion plug-in for Office 2003.
So please, please, ok, I'm begging now, can we get COB back? He's scared and he wants to go home now. :D |

Caligari also have the same policy if you buy using the three month installment plan.
Hardly Caligari's fault that his CC expired this summer! |

Keyframed.
I mean - I have a lots of scenes, just maded in ts7.5; experimenting with the otherwise great animation tools. Now opening them - there are keyframes marked in AE, but they aren't assigned to the sceleton. They are useless now. |

Please, don't get me wrong.
I am sure Caligari is doing their best to correct all these bugs.
I just post that in here in order to prevent others to install ts 7.51 over 7.5, to prevent losing their data.
As for animations - I will start from the beginning, but it's a pleasure, not a work for me. After all, everything is suposed to be for fun? Plus, its always better to start the new soft with a new job.

You can still import and export COB files from Model. Same way as before except the Model's File Menu name was changed to TS6 Files. The other more familar File Menu on tS751 Main Window is for Workspace. HTHIt's like getting a new car and having to head back to the dealership because the electronics are on the fritz and nobody knows why.

On the manual, please note it is still only an electronic manual. This is because it features videos and similar, and those don't work too well in a printed manual :) The printed manual remains tS7.0 only, and is frankly unlikely to be updated.
Sorry for that little disappointment, hope it doesn't dampen your enthusiasm as regards the release!
Tom
Thanks, Tom. Well, looks like I'm going to have to lug my computer up to bed with me... LOL!! No, no worries, I understand. Guess I'll just have to get use to reading on my computer.
I'm downloading 7.51 now and once I'm done, I'll take this as a new beginning. And I'm going to start with the manual this time and just dive in. I keep making silly mistakes, leaving options checked/unchecked and then wondering why stuff isn't doing what it should be. So page 1 of the manual, that's where I'm going to start, once I have this all down. |

locks & skeleton rendering was fixed for 7.51 for lightworks. what you need is to turn it off (pass through->hide for all in character editor panel) and rig will be hidden in real time view and also in modeler.
Thx TomasB!
I found through your help that indeed I had to go through the LE to disable everything showing. I really don't like that LE! And don't understand why it should be necessary. Why can't those settings be on the right side of the WS, under panels, right there with all the other character posing settings? To me it would make for a better workflow and just make more sense. |

Hi Paul - this approach is Standard Operating Procedure for me. I almost always read a manual from cover to cover (do PDF's have covers? You know what I mean). Often I'll just skim through without necessarily trying to absorb everything and then and only then start playing with the actual software.
This takes a little will power as I'm always tempted to dive right in but experience has shown that by getting an overview of the manuals contents I find that I get a better idea of what the software can be used for - this saves me looking for options that don't exist and reveals options that do exist that I may not otherwise have known about.
I've just DLed the application and it's taken 8 hours on my dial up - it came slowly but smoothly - thanks Caligari, but now (07.15am) I'm off to bed after having been up all night. I'll DL the manual tomorrow and then think about installing it all. |

Hi Wizard.
I tend to do the same, go cover to cover with the manual first and then dive into the software, but I find that hard to do with a PDF. Don't mind reading small PDF's, sure I create them myself when need be, but I'm more comfortable and a faster reader with a physical manual.
Anyway, I have it all down now so I'll be installing tonight or tomorrow.
PS:
Ouch on that dial up!!! If you can afford it and can avail of it, get a broadband connection. I got both TrueSpace 7.51 and the HUGE manual in 2 hours. |

 Oh GLEE!
I'm sorry if this is pouncing, but since I noticed that BVH and COLLADA is now supported I just HAVE TO ask how this is working.
IMHO this is a major breakthrough in terms of actual useability in the animation production pipeline. The lack of this feature in past versions is what has kept me hesitating, and I'm absolutely delighted to see that this is changing.
BVH is a very flexible format, but for the same reason very complex. Same goes for collada.
But in any case, this piece of news alone moved tS to the top of the list of stuff-to-buy.
THANKS :) |

My posts almost destroyed the forum? hah!
If that's so, how come Norm never once banned me or deleted my posts then?
As usual, it was the combination of some juveniles from England and other places that popped off with their snide remarks that made the situation abnormal.
Did anyone ever comment on those people who constantly threw in their two cents constantly disparaging me?
I see that the "ego" still posts. |

jamesmc,
I have only seen two posts from you and both have been negative. Any chance of some positive words from you instead.
I see and hear enough negativity on the news. I don't come to forums to hear more. We all have legitimate gripes from time to time but just leave it please.
Oh and on the subject of paying for TS. My experience was very good. Bibianna went out of her way to see to my purchasing needs so I think they would have been helpful to you as well.
Anyway, like you I also own other applications that also have a place in my workflow. Its good to have all options open. No application is perfect whatever the marketing says. :D
Cheers
