Glad to hear this, I thought no one may notice:) I am looking forward to hear from anyone putting COLLADA or BVH through its paces.
Hi Roman,
I'd like to take a minute to sincerely thank you and the rest of the Team Caligari Developers for all that you've done with TS7.51. It is by far the most powerful and amazing 3D Development Environment I have ever worked with and it's elegance is deeply enjoyable.
Collada and BVH Format introduction and support within trueSpace7.51 is something I welcome a great deal even though I don't work with those formats personally yet being more of a hobbyist than a professional modeler.
Every time trueSpace embraces new industry pipeline formats such as these more professionals are drawn to trueSpace, which in turn will lead to their discovery that within trueSpace 7.51 are literally all the scripting tools necessary to modify it's existing capabilities to whatever level they like and well beyond that to develop whatever they may imagine.
I am just beginning to comprehend the scope of the power that you have provided us all with in trueSpace7.51 with it's open scripting environment and numerous scripting language options. You have provided us all with a very elegant "Developers Dream" in trueSpace7.51, not merely a newer set of tools. Thank you for that, and well done.

Roman (et al)-
As others have said, thank you for your continued work and enthusiasm to work with the power players and respond back to those of us that are long-time lurkers and still plugging away at learning trueSpace.
My boss really appreciated the quick release of the update here- it helped justify the purchase and my continued existence in proTeam. It also shows some of my coworkers that the software we're using may not be the most expensive but is active, alive and well in continuing to grow in the software world.
I look forward to being able to improve some of our training material with the what 7.51 looks like it can do! Now to find the time to get through everything!
Keep up the good work!

I don't think they've heard of broad-band down in NZ yet.
Chuckle - we've heard about it alright. I have two broadband capable networks running right outside me door, one of which is a coaxial (therefore theoretically faster) network.
The problem is the costs involved - NZ is about the same size as California but only has the population of an average city - about 4 million people. This means that the cost of network infrastructures is comparatively high compared to the costs for your average 4 million population city in Europe or the States. We have good broadband but it's amongst the most expensive in the world - on my limited budget broadband must compete with the need to constantly update my hardware. Ultimately I'd rather have a good computer on a poor net connection than an average computer on a good net connection - shrug. One day I hope to have the best of both worlds.
A huge and massive thank you to Caligari for the stability of your servers - tS 7.51 was an 8 hour DL and the manual was 11 hours 50 minutes and the electrons all trickled down to me without a hitch _ (it may help that it's all down hill to the southern hemisphere!!).
I've yet to try them but the improvements to the character tools look totally brilliant - I suggested a stock human skeleton on another thread but you Caligarians have taken that idae much further with the limb library and full skeleton symmetry - I'm itching to play with those.
Massive thanks to y'all. I sincerly hope you are all proud of yourselves because you deserve to be.
PS - @Jamesmc - I don't think anyone ever disparaged you James, just your hostile attitude. There is a difference and your hostility was never warrented IMO. This is still the friendliest, most open and most accepting forum I've ever encountered. What you put out is what comes back to you. |

Nice to see diplomacy is alive and well Wizard...:D
Jamesmc has declared his departure from here for 'greener grass' so can we just move on now from that particular topic.
7.5.1 is released so let's just have a play around with it and forget about any 'bad blood'...:D :D |

Thanks Splinters. I don't know much about it but apparently in Game Theory the strategy of "Always Nice" has been shown to be the most effective strategy. It also just feels nicer! :D :D
One of my (many) favourite quotes: "What we fight makes us weaker, what we stand by makes us stronger".
For this reason I always try to willingly embrace changes in the evolution of software, not just tS. Wishing tS 7.51 was more like tS 6.6 seems like wishing that TVs would go back to being Black and White (especially when you can turn tS 7.5 into tS 6.6 with the flick of a finger). |

....seems like wishing that TVs would go back to being Black and White ...
Reminds me of a jewish joke !
Samuel and Moishe are having a dispute (almost fighting .... )
so they decide that the rabi should help.
Samuel askes the rabi .... is white a colour ?
The rabi looks into his big book and after some time .... he comes up
with the answer ....yes my friend white is a colour!
Samuel very happy about the answer asks the rabi...
Rabi is black a colour ?
The rabi looks into his big book again and after some time .... he comes up with
the answer .... yes my friend black is a colour !
"MOISHE ! " I TOLD YOU THAT WAS A COLOUR TV I SOLD TO YOU ! |

That's just an excuse for high prices by your telecom providers. In Canada, we are very familiar with the problems of long distance communication.
Yet Canada is one of the most heavily cabled nations on earth. We may have 30 million vs NZ 4 million population, but they are spread out over a land mass hundreds of times the size of NZ. If Whitehorse in the Yukon Territories Canada up by the Arctic Circle can have high speed internet for a reasonable price, so can NZ. In most of Canada, high speed internet packages start at $25 per month. Hardly a fortune.
As for the technology, they can use existing telephone lines as carriers. Something tells me that the NZ high speed providers still charge equally high prices in Wellington as they do in Balclutha or Kaitaia. It's called corporate greed. |

Improv you nailed that one! The corporate greed factor definitely a major factor. Recently our government has followed the British lead and legislated to force the network providors to open their copper networks up to the competition. Telecom, the major network providor involved, is now saying that they would rather sell their local networks. They further claim that if they did open the network up to competition that the switching capacity at the exchange level is far too small to cater for the amount of broadband the networks could carry using ADSL2.
The government is commited to making broadband as cheap and as fast as they can because that can only help the economy - however the major corporations (mainly Telecom which I believe is owned by Bell South) are fighting this every step of the way. I think they should be 'the first against the wall when the revolution comes' (to quote Douglas Adams).
The cheaper broadband services here are comparatively slow and have small datacaps - they also require a minimum monthly spend on toll calls so while the start out looking like they'll only cost NZ$30.00 a month the actual cost can be almost twice that - which adds up to a significant bill which could be financing upgrades for my PC (not to mention the fact that dispite having a big TV we still haven't yet been able to budget for a home theatre system. Ah so many gadgets, so few dollars.
Trying to swing this back on topic - man I am seriously loving the updated skeleton tools! |

I have more to say on the OT, but in the interest of getting back on topic, I'll leave it at that. Suffice it to say we agree 111% :D |
