Heheh Ye olde Fart strikes again... ;)

Looked through the review and it appears to be spot on. Definatlely not a bad review, if anything it reads pretty up beat. It gives the impression of greater things to come so thats a plus.

Anyhoo, it's time for meds.... (Grampa Simpson mode engage) :D

When 7 was released it got 6/10 now after all the work and improvement and massive increase in the actual usability of the workspace it only gets 7/10? Seems a bit unfair to me - I would have thought a minimum score of 8 would be more accurate.

I think once workspace has all tools and then some.... less bugs will be encountered, which for me is usually caused by switching between views, and workflow will improve resulting in tS getting scores of 8+. I still feel like tS is experiencing growing pains but like they say "no pain no gain".

Very close to what Rhino 4 scored last month ....8/8 .... so not

bad at all.

We all know that with many tools coming to workspace side

and a long overdue overhaul of lightwork - renderer there is

still much space for an improvement .... it just does not happen

over night

I think TrueSpace 7.5 would be so much better if it was organized like the previous versions (like TrueSpace 6.6, or 5.2). I like how the un-rendered view of 7.5 looks so much better, and I like the new tools, but I have to be in the 7.5 layout to use those tools, and I have to go into the TrueSpace 6.6 layout to do something as simple as change the reflectivity of an object. Why can't it all be in one place like the previous versions? It's probably because I'm fairly new to TrueSpace (I've only had 6.6 since September of last year, and I used 5.2 at school from August to December), but I just can't figure out how to get around in TrueSpace 7.5. I need general help with 7.5, and I don't feel like spending whatever it costs to buy the training videos. Is there some way I can have all of the toolbars in one tab? Thank you for any help!

trueSpaced, have you checked out NowhereBrain's free video? He sets up the icons so that most of the icons used regularly are within view. Might be worth checking out his approach to laying out the icons for quick selection.

Stick with 7.5, i've been using truespace since about 1999 when i bought 4.3 and it took me a while to get my head around the new layout. The first time i fired it up i was so confused i ended up switching it off but i'm getting used to it now.

Well I looked and it appears like he is working on a new site and removed his video from TurboSquid. Look in the Business section of this forum to find the latest news. While your there ask him how do you get it?

My answer will not address your problem with tools located on 6.6 side of the software. Those old tools need to be moved by Caligari as they update them.

I think we're all waiting for the reenactment of "The Bridge on the River Kwai" where it BLOWS UP at the end!

Roman would play a nice Sir Alec Guinness don't you think?

I tend to collect review of tS since I started working on it, I guess they might come in handy to showcase my icon work alongside illustration should I wish to do similar contracts for other companies.

Just looked at the Digit review from last year and it got 3.5 stars out of 5 and a pretty positive review...this seems to be the norm; only really excellent software getting really high scores so I think tS is getting the right sort of scores.

For comparison, 3DS Max and Maya got 4 stars with Softimage and Vue getting 4.5.

Cinema 4D got the same score as tS7.0...

Okay, I found the video on the new website, but it's a .rar file, and my computer doesn't have any programs to read .rar files. What program reads these type files?

*.rar is not a file format. It is a compressed archive. Someting like *.zip. So you need a zip software that can handle *.rar. Then extract the content :)

That would be win-RAR at http://www.win-rar.com/. It's on the same order as Win-Zip.

I watched the video, and it helps a bit, but where are the tools like the Material Editor, the stitch and blend, add line, curve, etc., object subtraction, addition, intersection, etc., and bend taper and skew in the TrueSpace 7.5 layout? Or are they not in there at all?

Part 2 of my last message:
"My answer will not address your problem with tools located on 6.6 side of the software. Those old tools need to be moved by Caligari as they update them."
Sorry
You could have a window open for both with the tools showing...

I use 7zip for decompressing. It's free and works well with most compression formats:

Did you send an e-mail to custom service ??? they should be able to tell you.

Besides that you can already use the download ahead as far as I know.

My CD version from 7.1 was on it's way for several weeks to Germany as those things really go by Snail Mail.
