Hey, has anyone received their TrueSpace 7.5 CD copies in the mail yet??? I bought mine a few weeks before the release date, and I bought the CD version, but I haven't gotten it yet! Anyone else have the same problem, or is it just weird people?:jumpy:

I don't think they've started shipping the physical copies yet. I'm eager to get mine too but at least I have the downloaded version so I'm not twidling my fingers.

As for how to start a new topic, click the New Thread button at the top of the forums.

after you click on one of the Forum titles, Roundtable, for example, there is a button in the upper left hand corner, titled "New Thread". If you are not logged in already, you will have to login. Then you follow the directions from there. You can preview your post if you like. Also, you can edit your own posts if you need to add, change, or delete information later.

I think TrueSpace 7.5 would be so much better if it was organized like the previous versions (like TrueSpace 6.6, or 5.2). I like how the un-rendered view of 7.5 looks so much better, and I like the new tools, but I have to be in the 7.5 layout to use those tools, and I have to go into the TrueSpace 6.6 layout to do something as simple as change the reflectivity of an object. Why can't it all be in one place like the previous versions? It's probably because I'm fairly new to TrueSpace (I've only had 6.6 since September of last year, and I used 5.2 at school from August to December), but I just can't figure out how to get around in TrueSpace 7.5. I need general help with 7.5, and I don't feel like spending whatever it costs to buy the training videos. Is there some way I can have all of the toolbars in one tab? Thank you for any help!

The architecture is being re-written from the ground up. This is why the interface is split up the way it is. More detail on the link below.

I think we all know that ...... and the people from 3D world know that

too. That in mind an 8 for features (or like Roman now calls them teafures

:D heheheheh ) is not bad at all;)

It is a big chance that the tools are not only going to be ported from

model side to workspace .... but that they are reinvented.

Some of us here have worked with new style programs like

Curvy or Moi or Sketchup and we all know now how easy it can be

to draw into third dimention with something as basic as a pencil.

Truespace is going into the right direction as we can see but its a very long ride to a more or less perfect program.

Its other things too like I pointed out like the renderengine that needs

some improvement (I am talking about Lightwork not vray ).

The samples from the realtime engine sort of look better now

then the offline ....

I for myself have hundreds of shaders for it and want it to do things like

GI , Ambient occl. colour bleed , caustics etc.

" I do not want the shaders to be changed ... ";)

We have plenty of them for lightwork and lack of them for Vray

I got the impression that trueSpaced did not understand this yet as he was wondering why the tools couldn't all be together like in previous versions. ;)

The people new to the forums dont know the history of TS 7 .....

most of us ...we two included know.

I can remember that time and the old forums .. and I very much

remember the silence for a few days after Truetown (NY)

Boy have things changed now for the better over here.

Back to the topic ...

Just come from a short visit to the lightwork pages and I am drooling

over some of those final gather samples (Lightworks 7.7) .... ouch that hurts

;)

Thank you everyone for your responses! Emma, thank you for the suggestion, but I think I'll wait a while longer since Paul says he hasn't had his shipped yet. And plus, I tried the Caligari help and suggestion box, and neither of them worked....:( I already downloaded mine from the e-mail, I just like to have a hard copy as a back-up. Thank you frootee for the forum info, I was just wondering since I'm a noob to the forums :p! And, Dele, I get what you mean, I just think Caligari should have taken a little more time into "rewriting the architecture". I think quality comes before quantity, so in other words, I think they should have waited to come out with a TrueSpace 8 that was already "finished" a few months later. Just my opinion, doesn't do much good to express it, but I want to anyway! :D So, thanks again for the help everyone! :D

Not to worry truSpaced. I think that one reason to go in increments is that they get feedback from people other than the beta testers. It lets them know what people feel is most important in their interface. ALL opinions are appreciated by Roman and staff.

Well, this went off topic.

Anyway, Digit magazine (UK only?) have reviewed tS7.5 in the latest issue (according to the email I just received). There is only one shop in my town that sells it so I have no idea what it is and it takes a month or so before the mag review gets online.

Just in case anyone was curious...

Digit (Now Digital Arts) Review summation

It got 4 out of 5 stars

Pros: Efficient tools for rapid editing and object creation, hair/fur and geometry deforming tools; sophisticated character and physics-based animation, runs on Vista.

Cons: Initially confusing workflow and fairly steep 'unlearning' curve for users of other 3D applications, no Mac support, optional V-Ray renderer costs about half the price of the full package.

Cheers

Are you sure that statement was a "Con"?

Still, 4 out of 5 is slightly better than last year's 7.0 review and puts it in the same league as Maya and Cinema 4D if I remember...:)

League as in score...not industry acceptance or features...
